The onetime penal colony of #Hobart is located between Mount Wellington and Port Hobart, and features a number of exquisite colonial buildings in breathtaking natural surroundings.
There’s a variety of things to do on #vacation in the city, so chow down on seafood from a waterfront restaurant before stopping by one of the galleries built into old whale oil warehouses. Don’t forget to check out the Hobart Theatre, a must-see on any Hobart tour.
Hobart #sightseeing will no doubt include the Maritime Museum, which celebrates Hobart’s ties to the sea. Go for a sail on the Lady Nelson, a tall ship that makes regular excursions out to the harbor.
Head to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art. This building descends three floors down into the cliffs surrounding it, and its often dark-natured artwork is featured in vast, cavernous spaces.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Hobart City Video Guide | Expedia
Hobart is located in Tasmania, Australia’s southernmost state.
Originally an infamous penal colony, Hobart is a place where the old and new meet, right at the edge of a pristine wilderness.
The waterfront is where early settlers first stepped ashore, and today the docks make a perfect place to start your adventures. Visit Australia’s oldest brewery, which is still in business today.
The Maritime Museum is a great place to gain an insight into just how important the ocean has always been to this remote place. Help set the rigging, trim the sails, and take a turn at the helm of the Lady Nelson.
A short stroll from the waterfront is Salamanca Market, a local institution for over 30 years.
Learn about the great southern wilderness and those who tried to conquer it at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. For artwork of a more controversial nature take a ride upriver to Mona - The museum of old and new art.
South east of Hobart is Australia’s version of Alcatraz, the convict settlement of Port Arthur.
Don’t leave the city without a trip to the top of Mount Wellington, where you can imagine Hobart as it was 200 years ago.
It’s clear from the moment you arrive that this old city now beats with a young and creative heart.

Discover Things to do in Hobart Tasmania - City Travel Guide
Hobart is full of history and culture; it sits on the River Derwent and one of the most historic areas is Battery Point overlooking the water.
Start your trip off by visiting Salamanca Place, these old warehouses have been preserved and converted into craft shops, galleries, performing arts venues and cafes. Head there on a Saturday where the market boasts over 300 stalls.
Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery are great to stroll around on a cold afternoon, whilst there take a glimpse at Tasmania's oldest building -- the Commissariat, which was built in 1808.
Beer lovers will be in their element on the tour of the Cascade Brewery and after, soak this up at one of the many restaurants at Battery Point, Salamanca Place or Constitution Dock.

Hobart | Tasmania Travel Diary
Sometimes it takes a while to see the wonders in your own backyard. This was my first trip to Tasmania, the tiny island state off the south east coast of Australia. Its capital Hobart is a harbour city for food lovers that buzzes on weekends, with the famous Salamanca Market stretching for miles, and the edgy art gallery MONA attracting an international audience.

5 days in and around Hobart, 9 days driving all the way around the Island. What a fantastic destination if you want to 'get away' from it all. Roads are amazing whether they are sealed or unsealed. People are friendly and the tourist amenities are 2nd to none. Highly recommend at LEAST a week here.

Tasmania Australia Cradle Mountain | Tasmania tour
This is another throwback trip way back 2017 when we celebrated our first wedding anniversary. We decided to explore and have a tour in Tasmania.
The place was very nice and relaxing, there are just few people around town which will give you that good vibes that you are far away from city.
The challenge here is you need to drive so you can go to places and it takes hours to go from one spot to another. Most of the tourist spots need a hike or walk, so make yourself ready.
We have visited few must visit places in Tasmania (I hope my memory is right)
-Hobart / Just around town and their museum
-WineGlass Bay
-Honeymoon Bay
-Launceston / Just around town
-Cradle Mountain (my favorite)
We also visited few lookouts along the way and a zoo.
Please enjoy watching!!

Tasmania Part 1 by The Australian Tourist
Tasmania is the only island state in Australia positioned at the bottom of the country south of Melbourne. Simply put Tasmania is a haven for Tourists. We were able to travel around in a Tasmanian camper which gave us the added benefit of having our transport, accommodation & cooking all in one. Tasmania is approximately 300km from north to south & east to west so you are going to need some transport, if you want to take full advantage of all that the island has to offer. Along our travels we saw an extreme number or bike riders peddling their way around Tasmania, after chatting with them they stated it was such a great place to cycle around as the towns aren't too far from each other. For those who don't want to brave the roads on a bike there are almost more campers then people available and every where you go there are caravan parks or hidden little places to park on the side of the road (you didn't hear that part from me). The scenery is incredible and there is great variety from the east to the west and the north to the south.
You can't go to Tasmania with out seeing the Tasmanian Devil or even try find the thought to be extinct Tasmanian Tiger. If your lucky enough you may spot a Tasmanian Devil in the wild but there are several wild life parks such as East Coast Nature World that you can get up close and take picture of the little devils.
Tasmania has a detailed history of convict life with one of the best places to see first hand, buildings and living conditions of the early convicts & settlers is at Port Arthur. Not far from Port Arthur are incredible cliffs with ocean caves, arches and natural stone structures. It may very well be worth while taking one of the many boat tours to show you around these areas.
As you travel around Tasmania you'll see many different types of farms including some famous vineyards that are well worth a stop.
Hobart has plenty to offer besides being a city & offering all the comforts of the city it also has the incredible Mt Wellington towering over it. Please don't go to Hobart with out the drive up Mt Wellington.
Tourism & travel in Tasmania is world class, if you live in Australia it's only a cheap flight away.
A special thanks to the Team at Tasmania Campers/ Devil Campers & East Coast Nature World for making our experience unforgettable, if you ever get the chance to talk with these great people let them know The Australian Tourist says hi.
A huge thanks to Allan Wolf & son from Stanley (The Nut) for the interview.
