Recently we went to Bruny Island, Tasmania. We really enjoyed our time here. For a foodie, this place has it all. WIth Get Shucked Oysters, Bruny Island Cheese, Bruny Island Fudge, Hotel Bruny plus wineries and a Whiskey distillery. Bruny Island has it all. We also did some 4x4 at Cloudy Bay and camped the night at Cloudy Bay camp area. Not all roads are sealed, so lots of fun from North to South, East to West.

On The Road Tasmania Travel Series Trailer | Full Series Launching 2nd Jan 2020 ⚡

Tasmania has been bubbling away for some time now and there’s no denying that the last 10 years have seen somewhat of a creative resurgence. Some call it the Mona effect, others might argue it was the whiskey revolution, either way Tasmania is the new home for designers, makers and independent businesses. Whilst about to hit boiling point, Tasmania shows no signs of slowing down with foodies, design junkies and experience seekers all heading to the island once known purely for its landscape.
I feel an enormous sense of pride to be showcasing my home state of Tasmania. I didn’t always speak with such pride, infact I’m ashamed to admit that I often brushed over the fact that I was Tasmanian - as I grew tired of having to smile while yet another individual enquired as to where the scar on my neck was (because us island folk have two heads you know… hmmm yes, champagne comedy).
Fast forward 20 years and I’m now met with starry eyed praise and excitement upon mentioning my home town. Anyone that has experienced Tasmania recently will testify to how unique it is, with an overwhelming love for the places and personalities that you encounter. I must say, you’d be hard pressed to find a mean Tasmanian. The state has an overall sense of friendliness, like coming home. For me, I was coming home - but not to the same place I grew up in. Whilst I liked Tasmania in the 90s, this new Tasmania is a hell of a lot cooler.
Hunting for George is excited to launch the trailer for our 8-part video series ‘On The Road’. This travel series documents our time in Tasmania hunting down design, architecture, makers, accommodation, homes and unique experiences. Launching 2nd January 2020, eight episodes over six weeks will showcase experiences in Stanley, Flinders Island, Launceston, Lake St Clair, Hobart, Bruny Island, Eaglehawk Neck and Freycinet. Including additional Tasmanian ‘Let Us In’ Home Tours along the way.
Hunting for George ‘On The Road: Tasmania’ launches on 2nd January 2020 on YouTube. Subscribe to watch.

Pumphouse Point & Luxurious Retreat at Lake St Clair | Tasmania Part 4 'On The Road' Travel Series ????
Tasmania used to predominantly known for its deep thick forest, natural bushland and walking tracks. Now Tasmania also conjures up thoughts of premium wines, new age whiskey and modern architecture. When you head to Lake St Clair in the state’s centre to visit Pumphouse Point, the best of old and new Tasmania combine to create an experience like no other.
Pumphouse point is stepped in history. In the 1930s, the was a vision to build a 5-storey pumphouse that would house enormous water turbines to power the hydropower system - a vision that was realised in 1940. This state of the art facility was to pump water from Lake St Clair into the nearby St Clair Lagoon where it would be stored and fed to the nearby Tarraleah Power Station as required. However, the need to use the facility failed to arise and the site was eventually decommissioned in the early 90s having never been used for its intended purpose. The Tasmanian Government assumed control of the unique site and appointed the Parks & Wildlife Service as caretaker with a view to attracting potential tourism developers. In a final tender for tourism development in 2004, Simon Currant was successful in securing the lease and began his journey toward bringing Pumphouse Point back to life to create a vibrant and unique home away from home.
Traveling across Tasmania featuring the best Design & Experience, this episode we visit Lake St Clair & Pumphouse Point.

Marinas Tasmania - 5 great reasons to sail to Tassie!
Marinas Tasmania -
Thinking of Sailing to Tasmania?
Here's 5 reasons:
1. Great views
2. Great sailing
3. Awesome Food and Wine
4. Friendly Yacht Clubs with first class facilities, and
5. Quality marine services to look after your boat.
Being an island, Tasmania has plenty of coastline for sailors to enjoy. The rugged cliffs and beautiful beaches provide plenty of fabulous views. There's great sailing too, with many experienced sailors saying that the D'Entrecasteaux Channel south of Hobart is one of the best boating areas in the world.
Tasmania has a well established reputation for producing top quality food and wine as well. Cool climate conditions have enabled farmers to grow great fruit, berries as well as lamb, beef and poultry. In recent years salmon and ocean trout have become established primary products. Along with specialty products including truffles, saffron and even tea, these products have regularly won acclaim from chefs and food judges. Production of whisky in Tasmania is well established and Sullivan's Cove recently won the World's Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards - see
Tasmania has established marinas around the state, with most in the south-east. Several new marinas are being constructed (2016) meaning there are plenty of spaces for visiting boats.
The boatbuilding industry in Tasmania is well established and has produced many fine boats for the fishing and recreational markets. There are slipyards around the state and quality marine services ready to take care of your boat.
