Exploring Mona - Museum of Old & New Art in Tasmania Australia
Join us adults guide to exploring Mona - Museum of Old and New Art In Hobart, especially if you want to enjoy the day Posh Pit style...
MONA has definitely changed the perceptions of what Art galleries could and should be. Make no mistake, this is not your average museum as the art installations confront, challenge and sometime appal its visitors.
To get there, you will be required to catch a ferry from the Hobart waterfront, and as you will see in the video we definitely recommend that you upgrade your ticket for a VIP experience seat in the ‘Posh Pit’ for champagne and canapés en-route.

The incredible MONA in Hobart, Tasmania (Museum of Old and New Art)
Hobart, Tasmania, a town of only 200,000 people has one of the most amazing contemporary art museums in the world. The building is incredible. The art inside the building is incredible. We're so lucky we could enjoy this awesome, awesome experience!
The reason why a small town like Hobart, Tasmania is home to one of the best modern art museums in the world is because a billionaire originally from Hobart, David Walsh, funded the building and creation of the MONA.
The MONA hosts art by some of the most famous modern art artists, such as Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, Sidney Nolan, or Stephen Shanabrook. But is is the Cloaca Professional by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye that seems to attract all the attention. Cloaca is also nicknamed the 'poop machine' or 'pooping machine' because it replicates the human digestive system and turns food into poop.
If you visit Tasmania and are looking for things to see in Hobart the MONA should be on your list as it truly is one of the top things to do in Hobart.

Woolstore, Hobart
By the 1840s wool was one of the most profitable exports from the State, the trade being driven by local businessmen and the rise of the woollen industry in Britain. Large pastoral properties in the Midlands provided most of the wool passing through Hobart. The building on the corner of Macquarie Street, still called the wool store but now a hotel was once used for this purpose.
These videos were researched, written and prepared by TMAG volunteer Sally Rackham and narrated by Noreen Le Mottee.

JOE TRUM HIDDEN TRAVEL GEMS: TASMANIA'S UNBELIEVABLE MONA ART MUSEUM
THE MUSEUM OF OLD AND NEW ART - MONA - IS A HIDDEN TRAVEL GEM.
It is remote - located on the Berriedale peninsula - on the island of Tasmania. The art is fresh, challenging, controversial, often adult themed and sometimes just plain strange.
The MONA building is a work of art in itself. The gallery space is encased in a three-level subterranean cavern that is cut into ancient sandstone by the Derwent riverbank.
The favorite way of visiting the MONA is via a dedicated camo colored ferry from Hobart's ferry terminal. Remember: visit the MONA with an open mind.
