???????? SUMMER Versus WINTER IN MONTRÉAL, CANADA! | VIEUX-PORT & OLD MONTREAL (PART TWO)
???????? MONTRÉAL, CANADA - Hola amigos and welcome back to Montreal for PART 2 of my 7 PART SERIES! This time we are checking out the historical area of OLD MONTREAL and VIEUX-PORT du MONTREAL (Old Port) as well as visiting MARCHE BONSECOURS and PARC LA FONTAINE!
If you're looking for things to do in Montreal in the Summer, these areas are ideal as they full of throngs of people especially at the weekend. Old Montreal has beautiful architecture and it's interesting to learn about the fascinating history of Montreal in terms of Jacques Cartier, Hochelaga and the Iroquians.
Marche Bonseceur is the old city hall and is now a shopping area full of clothing, souvenirs, cider and of course, maple syrup! There's so much to do at the Old Port including the ferris wheel, food and many activities for children as well as a zipline and Cirque du Soliel!
The theme of thus video is contrast and transformation - Montreal is SO different in the summer compared to it's icy winter. This is also true in terms of my attitude towards long term travel and what I'm doing going forward. This summer feels like the last leg!
MUSIC - (all EPIDEMIC SOUND)
History of my Heart - Headlund (intro, bonseceurs, outro)
Runaway Deer - Arc de Soliel (intro montage & old montreal montage)

Lanzhou Noodle Soup | How To Make Hand Pulled Noodles | Chinatown Montreal Canada
Montreal has a lot of phenomenal restaurants and there are a few I try to stop by every time I’m in this beautiful city. One of these restaurants is Nouilles de Lan zhou located in Chinatown at 1006 Boulevard Saint Laurent.
This Chinese fast-food restaurant resides on the first floor above a supermarket. It is known for its beef hand-pulled noodle soup and will serve the freshest noodles you’ve ever eaten: it takes less than three minutes from the time the noodles are made to the time they're served in a savory broth. See for yourself...
Lanzhou Beef hand-pulled noodle, also known as Lanzhou beef noodle is a renowned typical dish in Lanzhou. Dating back as far a Tang Dynasty, it is said that the authentic Lanzhou beef noodle was first created by Ma Baozi, a chef of Hui minority.
The dish has enjoyed great reputation and popularity both in China and all over the world with its unique flavor - broth clear as mirror, well-cooked beef aroma, fine and delicate noodle, together with its five condiments known by their colors as Clear, White, Red, Green and Yellow, standing for Clear broth, White radish, Red chili oil, Green coriander and Yellow garlic.
Lanzhou Noodle Soup is designated as on of the three great Chinese fast-food dishes by the China Cuisine Association and given the reputation as the First Noodle of China.

Canadian Maple Syrup | Maple Products from Canada Taste Test video transcript:
This is a really exciting video for me to make because today I'm going to be taste testing Canadian maple syrup products.
Maple syrup is a huge part of the Canadian identity and it is basically syrup that comes from the sap of different kinds of maple trees - the sugar maple, the red maple and the black maple.
So what a lot of people don't know outside of Canada is that there is a lot of maple products that you can buy in Canada aside from just the syrup.
In fact, maple syrup is so popular in Canada that if you actually admitted to not liking it they take away your passport. I'm not even kidding.
We love maple syrup so much in Canada that we have it in just about everything. Wait until you see the types of products that it comes in.
So I have to admit for this video I really went all out. Now a lot of these maple products you can find in stores regularly but some of them are specialty items such as maple tea and maple popcorn. Those are things I've never seen before and never tried, so I'm really excited to give it a shot.
Alright, so here is a bit of background information about maple syrup.
So how is maple syrup collected? By burrowing holes into the trunks and extra the sap.
Today, the Canadian province of Quebec is responsible for three quarters of the entire maple syrup production in the world.
What can you eat Maple syrup with? Well, it's more like can't you but most common items are things such as waffles, pancakes, nuts, ice cream, toast, French toast. You know what, you can dip it around in your finger and it just tastes wonderful. It doesn't matter how you consume it. It's amazing stuff. It has such a unique taste and flavor.
To wrap this up I've just had an absolute pig out on maple syrup related products. A lot of them are my all-time favorites and a few are things I've never tried before.
So in the comments section let me know if you've tried Canadian maple syrup before. Let me know if you have a favorite product. Is it something you would try or does it look really weird? Any kinds of thoughts or opinions on this let me in the comments.
This is part of our Travel in Canada series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Canadian culture, Canadian arts, Canadian foods, Canadian religion, Canadian cuisine and Canadian people.

Alexander Keith's IPA vs Molson Canadian Lager - Is Alexander Keith's Really an IPA?
Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale is not an IPA!
In this episode, I compare Alexander Keith's popular IPA with a beer that is supposedly on the other end of the spectrum in beer styles, Molson Canadian Lager.
An IPA and a Lager are supposed to have many differences, from aroma to appearance to taste. IPA are known for their hoppy attribute. Lagers are known for their crisp, clean lightness. You can crush lagers — you should not be able to crush IPA. IPA are meant to be flavourful and, therefore, savoured.
What do you think about the Pride of Nova Scotia? Is it an IPA or is it just a complete disregard of what the beer style really stands for? You be the judge.
--correction in the video-- It is true, IPA are not always hazy. There are many filtered IPAs out there. Appearance can be deceiving, and colour is not the best way to determine beer styles.

Montreal Showroom Opening Masquerade
They say being fashionably late to a party is the perfect way to make an entrance. But that wasn't the case for the launch of Teknion's Montreal showroom, as guests lined up more than 30 minutes before the doors opened.
One reason could be anticipation of seeing the new 7,000-square-foot showroom by Vanderbyl Design in collaboration with Kiva Design. The expanded space now gives theMontrealdesign community a dynamic perspective of Teknion's most exciting and innovative products, including Projek, Sidewise and Expansion.
The other was the evening's theme: a masquerade ball titled The Face of Design. From the moment the invites were delivered, guests embraced the theme; arriving with masks they must have spent hours creating, eager to win the grand prize of a trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.
And they weren't disappointed. Even though another design industry event was taking place that same evening, close to 400 guests were welcomed into a stunning white showroom that created a canvas for the surreal masks they created.
From the moment they arrived, they were entertained by a colorful mix of performers -- from dancers to DJs to Celine Dion's own personal magician.
A lipstick bar gave guests the opportunity to keep their own Face of Design looking glamorous -- each guest was able to create their own personalized lip-gloss, choosing their preferred colour, flavour and scent.
Fine Stratus wines and specialty cocktails were accompanied by colourful hors d'oeuvres, including edible flowers.
Ten of the top masks were worn by dancers fromStudio A, who, led by a percussionist, paraded through the showroom for final judging. Our special guest judge, Francis Ouellet, Accessoriste specialise en confection, Ateliers de Costumes from Cirque du Soleil had his work cut out for him. But having created masks for shows like 'Iris' in Los Angeles and the upcoming Michael Jackson show in Las Vegas, he was up for the task.
The winning mask was created by Faye Dea Jalbert, who ingeniously constructed a mask that reused old VHS videotape and television antennae that lit up to create a mask that gave her 15 minutes of fame -- and more.
Jalbert's efforts were rewarded with a trip for 2 to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. We're sure she'll enjoy her stay at the W New Orleans Hotel -- and hope she'll post some photos when she gets back!

The Indian Summer is a time of soft and sunny weather, between the autumn frosts and the dark winter.
At the beginning of October, we made the best of this pleasant period to road trip accross Quebec for a few days. At this time, the forests come alive with iridescent colours, especially the Maples as they show off fantastic shades of red, yellow and orange.
An explosion of colour, aroma and tastes welcomes the arrival of autumn, offering a breathtaking spectacle.

Make a Hookah
Three Parts:Assemble a HookahMake a Fruit Bowl for a HookahCraft a Hookah Out of Supplies in Your HomeCommunity Q&A
Smoking tobacco from a hookah is a major step up from smoking dry cigarettes. You can purchase many different flavors of shisha to make smoking as pleasant as possible. If you don't have a place nearby to buy a hookah, then you can create your own out of household items. Then sit back, relax and enjoy this amazing smoking experience.
Part
1
Assemble a Hookah
Image titled Make a Hookah Step 11
Fill the vase with ice cubes and water. Put just enough water into the base so that the stem is submerged about 1-1/2 (38 mm) into the bowl.
You need to leave just enough room in the vase so that your smoke doesn't bubble up into the hose.
Avoid putting milk or dairy into your base. Adding dairy will ensure an unpleasant smell, mold, foaming in the vase and ruined hoses.
Image titled Make a Hookah Step 22
Add your grommet. The grommet is a seal that joins the stem to the vase. Most hookahs come with a rubber or plastic seal. Silicone is the best material for a seal, but you an also simply seal the vase to the stem with electrical tape.
Image titled Make a Hookah Step 33
Put the tray that holds the coals onto the hookah. You need to put it on before you put the bowl on because the bowl may not fit over the tray.
Image titled Make a Hookah Step 44
Insert the short end of the hose into the hose port. If your hookah has 2 ports, then you can purchase a rubber seal to close off the other port.
Image titled Make a Hookah Step 55
Prepare your shisha. Follow all of these steps for the best smoking experience:
Evenly mix your tobacco so that all of it is covered in flavoring and molasses.
Fluff up your tobacco and drop it loosely into the bowl. Leave 2 millimeters of distance between the top of the tobacco and the bowl so that the shisha doesn't touch the foil when you put it on. Burned shisha will add a nasty flavor to your smoke.
Buy a good quality shisha. The quality of your shisha will determine the flavor of your smoke. You can also mix and match flavors for a great-tasting smoke. Buy 50-gram portions of shisha so that you can try it out without spending a lot of money.
You can cut up your tobacco leaves with kitchen shears to more easily pack them into the bowl. However, don't cut them too small or they'll fall through the holes and clog your bowl.
Image titled Make a Hookah Step 66
Put heavy duty only foil over the top of the bowl. Your foil piece should be 2 (5 cm) larger on all sides so that you can form a tight seal around the bowl.
Keep the foil tight so that wrinkles don't distort the heat distribution. If you only have thin foil on hand, then double it up.
When you're finished, your foil-covered bowl should resemble the head of a drum.
Image titled Make a Hookah Step 77
Poke about 15 to 20 holes into the foil with a toothpick, a pin or a sharp-tipped pen. Take care not to shred your foil. You can try a couple of different patterns based on the kind of bowl that you have:
Egyptian bowl: Start with a circle of holes around the perimeter and spiral inward.
Funnel-style bowl: Make 3 concentric rings: 1 around the edge, 1 around the spire and 1 between the 2 circles that you've already made.
Image titled Make a Hookah Step 88
Light the coals. Hold the coals with a pair of tongs and light 1 corner with a match or lighter. Because sparks will be produced, you should either go outside or stand near a window.
Always use the tongs that come with most hookahs to light or move your coals. Avoid using kitchen tongs, which may have been coated in a polymer to provide a non-stick coating for food prep and easy cleaning.
When the coal starts to sparkle and emit smoke, pull the flame away. The coal should continue sparking until all of it turns bright orange.
If the coal still has some blackened patches that aren't burning, then
