Mt. Tateshina, Nagano - 蓼科山, 長野県
At 2,530 meters, the summit of Mt. Tateshina sat exactly 1,000 meters above the point where I began hiking, i.e. the bottom of the ropeway that all the normal people climbing Tateshina used according to the woman at the information center.
From the expansive, flat, rocky summit you can see the Northern Alps to the west, the Utsukushi-ga-hara Highlands to the north, the eight peaks of Yatsu-ga-dake to the southeast, and to the southwest the Kiso Range and Ontake-san, which blew its top in the Fall of 2014, killing 63 people.
The lake visible in the center at the beginning of the video is Lake Shirakaba, centerpiece of a popular summertime resort that is eminently inviting in October when the leaves are changing color and the crowds have all but dissipated. Up the hill just ot the right of the lake is the dairy farm/ski lift/visitor center where I left my wife with the kids so I could make this hike. And why not? It was my birthday after all.

Water Throwing Festival In Tokyo
The Fukagawa Hachiman Festival is one of three major festival of Edo. The Festival is held annually in mid-August by the Tomioka Hachiman Shrine in Koto, Tokyo. Another characteristic of the Fukagawa Hachiman Festival is that spectators throw water at the mikoshi carriers, giving the festival the nickname, “Water Throwing Festival”. The shower, with a bucket and discharging water from a fire hydrant got them drenched. The festival is held every year. but the big, main festival is only every three years. This energetic festival embodies summer in Japan.
This is a High Definition Movie that is exhibited in Idojiri Archeological Museum( of Fujimi Machi, Nagano, Japan. In the southwest foot of Yatsugatake Mountains are a lot of Jomon ruins and it is uncovered that peoples continued to live there for about 3,000 years since the Early to Late Jomon period.
