Tatry Národnom Parký (Slovakia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Tatry Národnom Parký in Slovakia.
The major part of the High Tatra National Park is located in Slovakia and extends to Poland. It is a splendid mountain landscape with high, rocky mountains and many lakes, was founded in 1947 and given the nickname, Crown Of Slovakia. A healthy tree population surrounds crystal clear mountain lakes and flora which came into existence at the end of the Last Ice Age. Wild boars roam freely in the extensive natural landscape. This is their natural environment in which there is a plentiful supply of food. Chamois can also be seen on the mountain slopes, and in summer between fifteen and thirty of them live in herds, which disband in winter. The high mountains are their retreat, and when they feel threatened they move up to inaccessible heights. The Tatra Railway travels from Štrbské Pleso Station which connects a number of the Tatra region’s spa resorts. The railway has become an indispensable means of transport for growing Tatra tourism. After several short stops is the oldest Tatra community of Strarý Smokovec and along the main road there are charming old villas in half-timbered style. Impressive cloud formations provide views of Lomnitz Peak, the third highest peak of the High Tatra. On the northern edge of Tatranská Lomnica, is a cable car station. Initially, it travels slightly uphill and the first section leads to a mountain station. In winter, there are snow-covered mountain slopes and, in summer, easy hiking trails. The Tatra Nature Park is the embodiment of pure nature, undisturbed tranquillity, indigenous wildlife and, above all, majestic mountains!

The Tatra Mountains By Train Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination The Tatra Mountains By Train.
The High Tatra is the smallest high mountain range in Europe, a magnificent mountain landscape with majestic rocky mountains and many lakes. The High Tatra National Park was founded in 1947 and is an imposing natural paradise in the heart of Slovakia. On the banks of Štrbské Pleso is the Grand Hotel Kempinski which consists of three interconnected historical buildings. From the tower of its Honeymoon Suite is a fine view of Tschirmer Lake and the mountains of the High Tatra. The Tatra Railway travels from Štrbské Pleso Station which connects a number of the Tatra region’s spa resorts. The tram-like carriages are very comfortable and the route continues steadily uphill, the view gradually opening-up. The railway has become an indispensable means of transport for growing Tatra tourism. The development of tourism began here with the implementation of the railroad in 1871 and brought Bratislava and Vienna, closer. A regular service with the railroad began on 20th, November 1908. At Lomnitz Peak there is an overwhelming view of the vastness of the Zipsian Basin that was created during the Last Ice Age. Close by is Skalnate Pleso, a small and mysterious shimmering lake, one of more than a hundred of the region’s mountain lakes. Lomnitz Peak is often wrapped in clouds, its rock walls covered with dwarf pines that stretch down to the lake. Tatranská Lomnica is situated at an altitude of eight hundred and seventy metres on the southern foothills of Lomnitz Peak. Just six kilometres from Smokovce, this tranquil location was founded at the end of the nineteenth century and is one of the region’s earliest settlements. The Tatra Mountain experience features true nature and undisturbed tranquility as well as both a luxurious lifestyle and pure nostalgia, indigenous culture, atmospheric transport, and above all, mighty mountains!

The Cold Creek Falls (slovak: Vodopády Studeného potoka) - were one of the oldest goals of the Tatra tourism. They were made famous by patients and tourists relaxing in Stary Smokovec, Slovakia.
The first Tatra Rainer shelter was built for the tourists who visited them (now it is no longer a hostel, but a buffet and a museum of porters).

This is a point near Zdiar in Slovakia close to the Polish border near Podspady which I think has the best view of the Tatra mountains. If you have a motorhome you can also stop the night nearby in a public parking area!
The Tatra Mountains forms the border between Slovakia and Poland, and are the highest mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains. They cover 750 km² of which 600 km² lies in Slovakia, with the highest peak Gerlach at 2,655 m, located north of Poprad. Rysy (2,499 m), located in the north-western part of Tatras, is the highest mountain in Poland.
The overall nature of the Tatras, together with their easy accessibility, makes them a favorite with tourists and researchers. Therefore, these mountains are a popular winter sports area, with resorts such as Zakopane, called also winter capital of Poland, Poprad and the town Vysoké Tatry (The Town of High Tatras) in Slovakia created in 1999, including former separate resorts: Štrbské Pleso, Starý Smokovec, and Tatranská Lomnica. The High Tatras, with their 24 (or 25) peaks exceeding 2,500 m above sea level, together with the Southern Carpathians, represent the only form of alpine landscape in the entire 1200 km length of arc of the Carpathians.
My channel on you tube : is one of the most prolific from Poland. I have produced over 2,100 original films.
My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects.
Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. Sometimes there are mistakes because I speak without preparation. If I see the mistakes myself, I make this clear in the text. Please also leave a star rating!
I am very fortunate that I can spend a large part of my life travelling, thanks to the business I chose to run which allows me to do this. There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focusing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers.
Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

Natural history
The High Tatras, having 29 peaks over 2,500 metres (8,200 ft) AMSL are, with the Southern Carpathians, the only mountain ranges with an alpine character and habitats in the entire 1,200 kilometres (750 mi) length of the Carpathian Mountains system. The first European cross-border national park was founded here—Tatra National Park—with Tatra National Park (Tatranský národný park) in Slovakia in 1948, and Tatra National Park (Tatrzański Park Narodowy) in Poland in 1954. The adjacent parks protect UNESCO's trans-border Tatra Biosphere Reserve.[1]
Fauna
Many rare and endemic animals and plant species are native to the High Tatras. They include the Tatras' endemic goat-antelope and critically endangered species, the Tatra chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra tatrica). Predators include Eurasian brown bear, Eurasian lynx, marten, wolf and fox. The Alpine marmot is common in the range.
Flora
Flora of the High Tatras includes: the endemic Tatra scurvy-grass (Cochlearia tatrae), yellow mountain saxifrage (Saxifraga aizoides), ground covering net-leaved willow (Salix reticulata), Norway spruce (Picea abies), Swiss pine (Pinus cembra), and European larch (Larix decidua).
Culture
The area is well known for winter sports. Ski resorts include Štrbské pleso, Starý Smokovec and Tatranská Lomnica in Slovakia, and Zakopane in Poland. The town of Poprad is the gateway to the Slovak Tatra resorts.
People
The Górale people (highlanders), a group of indigenous people with a distinctive traditional culture, are of the High Tatras and other mountain ranges and valleys in the Tatra Mountains region.
Ludwig Greiner identified Gerlachovský štít (Gerlachovský Peak) (2,665 metres (8,743 ft)) as the highest summit of the Tatra Mountains, and the entire Carpathian Mountains system. It is also the highest point of Slovakia.
