The Benémola Fountain is a protected area where one of the best examples of the original vegetation of the barrocal, transition zone between the Algarve coast and the mountains. Its reddish soil cut by limestone outcrops and water lines are home to a diverse fauna and closely linked to the water, such as the Otter and the tortoises. The Algarve. Portugal.
I took this video in the beautiful Algarve in 2002 in and around villamoura, I took a few clips of footage at Zoomarine, Aqualand and on the marina in villamoura.
The Algarve (Portuguese pronunciation: [aɫˈɡaɾv(ɨ)], from Arabic: الغرب, trans. Al-Gharb, meaning The West) is the southernmost region of mainland Portugal. It has an area of 5,412 square kilometres (2,090 sq mi) with approximately 450,484 permanent inhabitants, and incorporates 16 municipalities. The region coincides with the Faro District, and has as its administrative centre the city of Faro, where both the region's international airport at Faro (FAO) and public university (the University of the Algarve) are located. Tourism and related activities are extensive and make up the bulk of the Algarve's summer economy. Fish, seafood and fruit production, which includes oranges, carob beans, figs and almonds, are other important activities in the region. The Algarve is the most popular tourist destination in Portugal, and one of the most popular in Europe. Its population triples in the peak holiday season thanks to a high influx of visitors, and receives an average of 7 million foreign tourists each year. In total, including national visitors, almost 10 million people visit the Algarve every year.
Climate
The maximum recorded temperatures in the Algarve fluctuate between 25 °C in winter and 48 °C in summer, with the temperature never usually falling below zero in the winter months. The winter of 2008/2009 was exceptionally cold and wet. Temperatures below 0 °C were recorded for the first time in many years.
Tourism
In the 1960s the Algarve became a very popular destination for tourists, mainly from Britain. It has since become a common destination for Germans, Dutch and Irish people. Many of these tourists own their own property in the region. There are Algarve-based English-written publications and newspapers specifically addressed to this community. In addition to the natural beauties and plenty of beaches, the Algarve has invested in the creation of a network of golf courses. Well-known beaches in the Algarve range from Praia da Marinha to Armação de Pêra. A well known spa town is Caldas de Monchique.
The Algarve is a popular destination for tourism, primarily because of its beaches, Mediterranean climate, safety, cuisine and relatively low costs.
Algarve's mild climate has attracted interest from Northern Europeans wishing to have a holiday home or residence in the region. Being a region of Portugal, and therefore in the European Union, any EU citizen has the right to freely buy property and reside with little formality in the Algarve.[6] British expatriates, followed by German, Dutch and Scandinavians, are among the largest groups wishing to own a home in this sunny region of Portugal.
Tourism plays an important role in the economy of the Algarve. A large number of seasonal job opportunities are tourism-related and are fulfilled by thousands of immigrant workers from countries like Brazil, Ukraine and Cape Verde, among others.
In March 2007, the Minister of Economy, Manuel Pinho, announced the creation of the Allgarve brand, as a part of a strategical promotion of the Algarve as a tourism destination for foreign citizens.

Loulé market hall (Mercado Municipal) is a striking landmark and an excellent example of classic Moorish architecture. It re-opened in early 2007 after a long period of renovation. Browse the town’s cobbled streets and you will see how Loulé has gained a reputation as the craft capital of the Algarve. Local handicrafts include ceramics, copperware, leatherwear, embroidered linen and tableware, quilts and lace, many of which can be purchased at the colourful Saturday gypsy market.

South Australia by Drone. Maslins Nudist beach in Autumn
Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 17
Music Silence by Zero-project.
The most well-known attraction in the suburb is the beach at Maslin Beach. Also known as Maslin's Beach or, simply, Maslin's, the beach is the site of a cliff-lined recreation reserve stretching from Maslin Beach town in the north to Blanche Point in the south.
In 1975, the southern half of the beach was declared Australia's first official nude beach.[12] The beach is almost 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) long, so the area reserved for nude bathing is away from other beach users.
The Maslin Beach Nude Olympics are held annually, consisting of informal competitions such as three-legged races and the judging of best bum.[13] This is now called the Pilwarren Maslin Beach Nude Games.
