Visit Bonifacio Corsica - France
At the southern tip of Corsica lie Bonifacio, positioned on a narrow isthmus of white limestone. The town is only half an hour's drive (27 km) from Porto-Vecchio. The city of Bonifacio is split into two sections. The vieille ville (old town), and la Haute Ville (the Upper city), on the location of a fortress, is located on the cape overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

France's largest nature reserve is located in southern Corsica. The Bouches de Bonifacio reserve is home to a wide variety of Mediterranean marine life and has to be protected from poachers. Meanwhile, the Madeleine archipelago, just off the Italian island of Sardinia, is less than an hour away. FRANCE 24 takes you to discover these two pieces of paradise – including a pink beach that's off-limits to tourists.

Corsica Road Trip August 2019
Day 1 to Riems, Central France via the WW1 battlefields and memorials around Cambrai
Day 2 Riems to Chamonix to meet up with the rest of the group. Found to my cost driving a Discovery 4 on the cruise control is not a good idea. Had a loss of power, the red triangle of death came up on the dash which threatened the whole trip. Thankfully I’ve got a IID tool so plugged that in, Googled the error code which turned out to be the injectors and linked to the cruise control. Cleared the fault and all was good, think I’d confused the ECU with constant up and down with the cruise. Won’t do that again in a hurry…….
Day 3 Chamonix to Pisa, Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel. Couldn’t believe how expensive the tunnel was! Or how much the taxi from the campsite to the Leaning Tower and back again was either.
Day 4 Pisa to Corsica via the ferry. I hate boats so wasn’t looking forward to it but the Med was flat calm which was a blessing.
Days 5, 6, 7 & 8 Offroading around Corsica then the overnight ferry back to Toulon, France on the last day.
Day 9 off the ferry and on the road at 6.00am, straight through to the Eurotunnel with a couple of food, fuel & toilet breaks (and as I subsequently discovered 2 speeding tickets…..), home by 8.30pm UK time.

REVELLERS AWAIT BOATS THAT WILL JOIN THAMES RIVER PAGEANT
(3 Jun 2012) Excited spectators and participants were already out early on a wet Sunday morning in London, to take to the River Thames to celebrate the 60th year of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
In Putney, southwest London, river taxis ferried people out to boats taking part in a special Jubilee flotilla.
An armada of vessels - from historic sailboats and barges to kayaks, lifeboats and military launches - was mustering along the Thames ahead of Sunday's river pageant.
The Queen aboard the royal barge will lead the flotilla of 1,000 boats - described by organisers as the biggest gathering on the river for 350 years.
At Putney Pier, people donned life jackets and waited to board the many taxis and private boats which started departing from 7 o'clock (0600 GMT) on this grey and drizzly Sunday morning.
Amanda Barker was waiting for her family's wooden boat, built in the 1960s, which will be joining the flotilla later. The Lady Evelyn II will be sailing with the historic boats section, behind small craft used in the Dunkirk evacuation in World War II.
Despite the bad weather, Amanda is in high spirits. Crews are used to this. This is what we grew up in, this is Britain, this is boating, this is what you do. And it's going to be a lot of fun whatever the weather, she said, adding that participants had packed the right gear for all weather conditions.
Joining the Lady Evelyn II was Emma Smethurst, who said the chance to take part in the pageant on the River Thames was a once in a lifetime event.
Everyone's made their boats look amazing - painted, polished, cleaned everywhere, it's hugely significant for people who have been boating on the Thames for most of their lives, said Emma.
