Te Awamutu Museum
Waipa is rich in history and the showcasing of the district’s heritage has a key role to play in our economic development. We have a fascinating story to tell.
As part of the draft 10-Year Plan, we have tentatively allowed for a new museum in Te Awamutu. A new museum would help tell the ‘Waipa story’ and possibly create other opportunities for Te Awamutu in terms of visitors and economic development.
The proposed museum would be a key part of the long-planned Te Awamutu community hub. Over 20 years, the hub may include the museum, commercial and retail facilities as well the new library that has already been approved.

The Finns of Te Awamutu - Roadside Stories
Musicians Neil and Tim Finn are Te Awamutu's most famous sons. Tim's band Split Enz -- a theatrically costumed arthouse ensemble -- morphed into a successful pop group after 18-year-old Neil joined in the late 1970s. The brothers were later both part of the internationally successful Crowded House.

Te Awamutu Water supply
Water supply infrastructure is the biggest challenge facing our district over the next 10 to 30 years, particularly given our projected population growth. Over the next decade alone, we’ll need to spend more than $120 million on water supply projects.

NZR 125 year celebrations Christchurch NZ Part 2, 23 Oct 1988
Ferrymead 125 occurred 30 years ago to celebrate 125 years of New Zealand Railways. As part of this celebration there was a cavalcade of locos and rolling stock at Christchurch railway station on Sunday 23 October 1988, and this video shows some of the display.
Apologies for the lens misting up for a few minutes during the video - the camera couldn't cope with being sprayed on by a fireman's hose!

Te Pakeha GOD Official Trailer Maoriland Film Festival
TURANGAWAEWAE...STAND TALL...Kia Ora I have entered my documentary film 'Te Pakeha GOD' to the MAORILAND International Film Festival...The trailer I will post shortly on Facebook... For those who wish to view this epic passage of Aotearoa - New Zealand History you will learn HISTORY that was NEVER TOLD bringing JUSTICE to old men women and children who were martyred in the Maori Catholic Church in Rangiaowhia (Te Awamutu - Waikato War ) on Holy Sunday 21st February 1864 AD. The TRUTH must be told!
The History of Maori wairua become transformed by the missionaries who become loved by the Maori. Promises were made of LOVE and PEACE yet the CROWN under General Duncan Cameron ordered the burning. The slaughter of the defenceless sent shockwaves of UTU (revenge) across the nation. Missionaries were targeted as works of the devil because of this genocide and atrocity beneath the Christian Cross...
WE as a NATION under the Treaty of Waitangi need to honour that disgraceful day in TRUTH to vindicate JUSTICE for those many bodies that are strewn across the whenua leaving kehua (ghosts) to haunt the land a stain on human relations that have been secretly hidden. Mouths were shut! Ngati Apakura lost its life, its land its identity and has been obliterated from history for over 150 years from New Zealand. Where to now for the WAIRUA of this NATION? TRUTH can NEVER, NEVER be STOPPED... (Otaki 20 - 24th march 2019)
