Tea Factory (outside and inside) - Mahé, Seychelles
Tea factory is one of the things to visit on Mahe. Tea factory is located only 4 km from Port Glaud and it is part of the Morne Seychellois National Park. The Sans Soucis road from Port Glaud through the mountains to Victoria is one of the most scenic drives on Mahe. Tea production began in 1966 and tea bushes are visible along the main road. The tea factory is open from 10.00 to 16.00 on weekdays. It is possible to buy some of SeyTe (Seychelles tea) that is produced in five different flavours -- orange, mint, lemon, vanilla and cinnamon or some Lemon Grass Tea.

ON OUR FIFTH DAY we went trekking on the tallest mountain in Seychelles. The mourne Blanc! We heard so much about it and got so curious. We parked our car at the nearby Tea Factory. The trail is located alongside the Sans Souci road, about 300 m above the Tea Factory.
The trail leads to a platform atop the cliff of Morne Blanc, with spectacular panoramas and views of tropical birds swirling above and below you. This mountain forest is home to many Seychelles birds.
The trails length is around 3.2 km and takes a 40 minute trek one way. The Morne Blanc rises up to 667 meters and offers the best views over the island of Mahe.
The initial part of the trail passes through an old tea plantation, as the trail elevates you find more and more lichens and mosses covering most surfaces. You'll find jackfruit trees here.
Once we reached the top, we took some beautiful pictures and relaxed for a while. If you don't come here, you're really missing out.
We then went for a visit at the local tea factory.
You can view the tea processing and the machinery in the museum. You can buy tea and do tea tasting. Unfortunately the tea factory isn't open all the time so you have to call them up before going. We had lunch over these beautiful tables and enjoyed the view. Was outstanding!
We then drove to the nearby Mission Lodge. Superb lookouts with spectacular views of central Mahé. A school was built here by the London Missionary Society in the 19th century, to care for slave children dumped on the island after the abolition of slavery.
Queen Elizabeth the II had tea in this small pavilion in 1972.
ON OUR SIXTH DAY we left the main Island Mahe and went to La Digue Island for 3 nights at Oceane Self Catering! We took the speed boat for 150 Euro return ticket.
We arrived at La Digue and went to our accommodation Oceane Self Catering. We were stunned by how cool it was! Our own garden, our own terrace, our own swimming pool, a canopy bed, beautiful decorations, another king size bed, a beautiful rock made shower and a fully furnished porch with a fully equipped kitchen! Wonderful!! Location was perfect! Only 5 minutes walk from the beach! We paid a bargain of 35 euros per person for a 4 night stay.
The first thing we did was to rent a bike.
Every day we went to the beach considered the most beautiful in the world: anse source D'argent.

Beautiful Seychelles Morning
Seychelles Islands... The magic of an early morning sunrise
Isle Aride, Seychelles, Indian Ocean
Aride Island - Seychelles
This is the most northerly of the granitic Seychelles islands and was bought by the Royal Society for Nature Conservation in 1973. It is second only to Aldabra in importance as a nature reserve in Seychelles. On Aride there are more breeding species of sea birds than on any other island in the region, together with the only breeding sites in the granitic islands for red-tailed tropicbirds, roseate terns and the world's only sooty tern colony in tall woodland. The island's warden will guide you to the breathtaking clifftops, where hundreds of huge frigatebirds soar above the turquoise sea. If you are lucky, you will glimpse hawksbill turtles and dolphins in the waters below. Seychelles warblers, 29 of which were introduced from Cousin in September 1988, have multiplied to more than two thousand. It is also a botanical treasure house, being the world's only site for the beautiful Wright's Gardenia, or bwa sitron, and a species of 'peponium' that might also be endemic to the island.
The world's largest colony of lesser noddies and possibly white-tailed tropicbirds further enhance the island's reputation as the sea-bird citadel of the Indian Ocean. Recently, it become a residence for the endangered Seychelles magpie-robin and the Seychelles fody, which are also found on Cousin, Cousine and Frégate.

SEYCHELLES: LE JARDIN DU ROI
by Marco Petruzzelli
tvreporter.it
Le Jardin Du Roi Spice Garden is in keeping with the original French tradition of the 18th century spice trade. From its location atop hills and across valleys, the garden boasts rows of vanilla vines, citronelle, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper and other spices, as well as medicinal and endemic plants that offer a real experience of nature at its best.
The spices, beautiful hand made candles and the medicinal plants, seldom seen in the world are also on sale at the Spice shop, which attracts people from all over the world.
Other buildings such as the old farm homestead still stands -- a pleasant reminder of yesteryears. The small museum houses interesting artefacts and documents on agriculture and history.
Visitors can tour at their leisure or for the more adventurous, guided mountain hikes can be organised on request 24 hours in advance.

Morne Blanc in Victoria, Seychelles
Morne Blanc is a 2.1 kilometer moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Victoria, Anse Etoile, Seychelles that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
A quick uphill climb through lush mist forest to a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the coast of western Mahe.
Morne Blanc, with its shear cliff face, is the most iconic mountain on the island of Mahe. A quick 45 minute climb up a well maintained trail will lead you to a viewing platform with sweeping views of Mahe's west coast.
The trailhead is located on the Sans Soucis road, about 15 minutes by bus from Port Glaud and is clearly marked. As you move up in elevation the jungle becomes more lush and moss and ferns become more abundant. The decent back to the road only takes 20 minutes if you don't stop.
An early start would be advised because the clouds tend to move in around Morne Blanc's peak around noon, obscuring the beautiful view
Standing 667 m tall, Morne Blanc offers panoramic views of Mahe's western seaboard. Admire the sweeping panorama of the sea from the sheer cliff and peak that make up the mountain. The trail makes a continuous climb from an already high altitude in Morne Seychellois National Park. You'll pass through an old tea plantation along slopes with lemon grass. Misty coud forest are common, but on a clear day you will see the neighboring islands and lush hills. Endemic birds such as Seychelles swiftlet and sunbird will keep you company, and if you are lucky, you will hear the sound of the world's smallest frog.

My adventure in the Seychelles Islands. While there I ran the Seychelles Marathon. I traveled the 3 main islands; Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue. My favorite of the 3 was La Digue.
