The US-Canada Border Splits This Road Down The Middle
Rue Canusa (or Canusa Avenue) is a street that's split in two by a border: the northern part is in Stanstead, Canada, and the southern part is in Derby Line, USA — and border crossings here aren't as easy as they used to be.

Remembering D.J. Fontana, Anne Donovan, Matt “Guitar” Murphy, Walter Bahr
Elvis’s Drummer
KEEPING THE BEAT, THE NEW JERSEY CENTER, THE MAN NAMED GUITAR, A LEGENDARY SOCCER UPSET
When he was just becoming popular, Elvis Presley discovered D.J. Fontana, who became his reliable drummer. Fontana is heard on most of Presley’s early hits on the singer’s way to superstardom. Anne Donovan was one of the most successful women’s basketball players of all-time. She won a college championship at Old Dominion, two Olympic Gold Medals, and coached the Seattle Storm to the WNBA title. Matt “Guitar” Murphy was one of the country’s top blues guitarists, but he found greater fame being featured in the 1980 movie “The Blues Brothers.” Walter Bahr was a top American soccer player during the 1940’s and 1950’s. He was the last surviving member of the US team that pulled off a hug upset against England in the 1950 World Cup.
Dominic Joseph Fontana (March 15, 1931 – June 13, 2018) was an American musician best known as the drummer for Elvis Presley for 14 years. In October 1954 he was hired to play drums for Presley, which marked the beginning of a fifteen-year relationship. He played on over 460 RCA cuts with Elvis.
Fontana joined a band (originally assembled by Sam Phillips) that was without a drummer.[1] The band included Scotty Moore (lead guitar), Bill Black (bass), and Elvis Presley (rhythm guitar). They called themselves The Blue Moon Boys. This became the band that would perform and record the vast majority of Presley's hits of the 1950s. Along with the occasional piano and backing vocals from the Jordanaires, The Blue Moon Boys played on several Elvis hits, including Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel, and Jailhouse Rock. The band toured extensively. Throughout 1956 and 1957, the band had several television appearances, which included The Ed Sullivan Show. The band broke up in 1958 and Black never played with Fontana or Presley again afterward. He died in 1965.[2] Although the band had officially broken up, Fontana and Elvis still regularly played and recorded together throughout the 1960s. Moore would sometimes join them. In 1968, Fontana performed on the NBC television special, often referred to as Elvis' 'Comeback' Special.[2]
Stan Lynch said of Fontana: Armed with accuracy, power, swing, dynamics, great time and — the biggest compliment of all — simplicity whenever it was best, D.J. rocked the greatest singer and the greatest songs ... ever. He did it year after year, record after classic record. In a world of one trick ponies and lucky Rock Stars, D.J. is the real deal.
Moore and Fontana also performed together without Presley, including a 2001 recording of That's All Right (Mama) along with Paul McCartney.
Anne Theresa Donovan (November 1, 1961 – June 13, 2018) was an American women's basketball player and coach. From 2013 to 2015, she was the head coach of the Connecticut Sun.
In her playing career, Donovan won a national championship with Old Dominion University, won two Olympic gold medals, and went to three Final Fours overall. She was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995, and became a member of the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2015.
As a professional basketball coach, she guided the Seattle Storm to their first title in 2004, becoming the first woman to coach a WNBA Championship team (as well as the youngest person to coach a WNBA champion, at age 42). She is the only person to have both played for a national women's college title and coached a team to a professional title. Donovan was also the coach of the Olympic gold medal-winning 2008 United States Women's Basketball team.
Matthew Tyler Murphy (December 29, 1929 – June 15, 2018known as Matt Guitar Murphy, was an American blues guitarist. He was associated with The Blues Brothers and Howlin' Wolf
Murphy was born in Sunflower, Mississippi, and was educated in Memphis, Tennessee, where his father worked at the Peabody Hotel. Murphy learned to play guitar when he was a child.
In the 1970s, Murphy associated with harmonica player James Cotton, recording over six albums. Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi attended one of their performances and subsequently asked Murphy to join the touring band of The Blues Brothers.[6] Murphy appeared in the films The Blues Brothers (1980) and Blues Brothers 2000 (1998), playing the husband of Aretha Franklin. He performed with the Blues Brothers Band until the early 2000s.
Walter Alfred Bahr (April 1, 1927 – June 18, 2018) was an American professional soccer player, considered one of the greatest ever in his country.[1] He was the long-time captain of the U.S. national team and played in the 1950 FIFA World Cup when the U.S. defeated England
