The Tel Aviv Dance Festival
The Tel Aviv Dance Festival is a wonderful example of how dance is a language that bridges across cultures.
Local and international Dance troupes perform together for two whole months at the Suzanne Dellal Centre for Dance and Theater in Tel Aviv. Among them are international dancers from Spain, the USA and Australia who came to Israel to join some of its world-renowned dance groups, as the Batsheva Dance Company.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

West Coast Swing Israel does its thing in the White City.
The West Coast Swing is a style of dance you might not expect to see in Tel Aviv, but residents here are loving it.
“The feeling you get after you get started is completely amazing, and after a month of coming to the lessons it's definitely worth it,” says one West Coast Swing instructor.
“I guess it's like pure freedom for yourself, your mind, your body,” says Dean, one of the dancers captured on this video. “It's also a couple's dance but it's like super modern and free and awesome and fun.”

Tel Aviv The Big Apple of Israel !
Tel Aviv (Hebrew: תֵּל־אָבִיב-] usually Tel Aviv, is the second-largest city in Israel, with an estimated population of 390,100.[1] The city is situated on the Israeli Mediterranean coastline, with a land area of 51.8 square kilometres (20.0 sq mi). It is the largest and most populous city in the metropolitan area of Gush Dan, home to 3.15 million people as of 2008. The city is governed by the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality, headed by Ron Huldai.[4]
Tel Aviv was founded in 1909 on the outskirts of the ancient port city of Jaffa (Hebrew: יָפוֹ,)The growth of Tel Aviv soon outpaced Jaffa, which was largely Arab at the time. Tel Aviv and Jaffa were merged into a single municipality in 1950, two years after the establishment of the State of Israel. Tel Aviv's White City, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003, comprises the world's largest concentration of Modernist-style buildings.
Tel Aviv is Israel's economic hub and its richest city, home to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and many corporate offices and research and development centers. Its beaches, bars, cafés, upscale shopping and cosmopolitan lifestyle have made it a popular tourist destination,[9] and given way to its reputation as a Mediterranean city that never sleeps.[10] It is the country's cultural capital and a major performing arts and commerce center.Tel Aviv's urban area is the Middle East's second biggest city economy] placed 52nd in the world's list of cities by GDP, and 42nd in the Foreign Policy's list of global cities.[13] It is also the most expensive city in the region, and 14th most
Habima Square, the cultural hub of Tel Aviv
A theater, performing arts hall and art museum surround Orchestra Plaza at the intersection of two of Tel Aviv's most happening thoroughfares.
Tel Aviv's Habima Square is not just a popular meeting point in the White City -- it's a gateway to a whole lot of culture.
That's because the square -- also known as Orchestra Plaza -- is surrounded by major institutions such as the Habima National Theatre, the Charles R. Bronfman Auditorium (home of the Israeli Philharmonic) and the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion for Contemporary Art.
The sunken garden and reflecting pool are favorite hangout spots for families, couples and kids. And because Habima Square is located at the intersection of Rothschild Boulevard and Dizengoff Street, visitors always have plenty of choices in eateries and entertainment, thanks to outdoor buskers.

The Israeli Theatre That Fits The Multicultural Nature Of Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv is a very multicultural city. It’s inhabited by people from all over the world, so Hebrew is not the only language spoken in the city. This is why there should be a theatre that hosts plays and performances in English language as well, at least, that’s what Johannah figured.
She started an English theatre in this Israeli city, the English National Theatre of Israel. There’s a lot of community theatre, which has a pretty high standard, but English-language performances aren’t organized on a regular basis, says Johannah. With this theatre she fills this gap. She wants to develop the English National Theatre of Israel to a point where they have a own residency space in Tel Aviv and go on tours.
Johannah is aiming not only at multicultural residents of Tel Aviv, but on people that are visiting Tel Aviv from all over the world as well. While the language is universal, the performances and plays in the theatre all are relevant to the country Israel or are particularly interesting for people in Israel.
Since Johannah and her company are always looking out for suggestions for plays and writers for projects, she’s inviting everybody with a great idea to join, wherever you’re from!

Shen Yun Debuts in Israel with Sold-out Shows in Tel Aviv
Shen Yun Performing Arts visited Israel for the first time this year from March 25 to 27, with four sold-out performances in Tel Aviv.
Shlomo Eshed, the president of Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange, saw Shen Yun at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center's Opera House, and said it was something extraordinary.”
“I think it is something wonderful and impressive, bringing something like this to Israel,” said Mr. Eshed. “It was something extraordinary, me and my wife were sitting here thrilled.”
According to the Shen Yun website, Shen Yun translates to the beauty of divine beings dancing. Its hallmark is classical Chinese dance, which grounds itself in five millennia of history, with origins in imperial palace dances.
“The airy costumes, the dancers—they are not dancing, it's like they are flying on stage, like angels, sometimes I had a feeling that I see butterflies that are flying on stage,” said Miri Aloni, a singer and actress.
“The technique of the backdrop with the photography, this amazing technique I was not familiar with—when the dancer seems to go into the backdrop, it was beautiful.”
The dances are accompanied by a live orchestra that blends the classical music traditions of the East and the West. It features ancient Chinese instruments, such as the pipa, a four-stringed lute, with a full Western orchestra.
“I am so happy that I came to see it and that I have not missed it and I will come next year for sure because it was just a divine performance. It was a dream. Amazing, just amazing,” said Ms. Aloni.
Shen Yun, a New York-based company, aims to revive China’s divinely inspired culture, focusing on elements such as benevolence, justice, propriety, wisdom, and respect for the heavens.
Giora Feidman, a clarinetist, felt the performance conveyed spiritual truth, awakened his inner divinity, and purified his soul.
“It’s not that it’s hard for me to express it in words, there are just no words to express it, he said. I am not the same person that went into the performance, I am not the same person now coming out.
