Langkawi, officially known as Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah (Malay: Langkawi Permata Kedah) is an archipelago of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. On July 15, 2008, Sultan Abdul Halim of Kedah had consented to the change of name to Langkawi Permata Kedah in conjunction with his Golden Jubilee Celebration. By far the largest of the islands is the eponymous Pulau Langkawi with a population of some 64,792, the only other inhabited island being nearby Pulau Tuba. Langkawi is also an administrative district with the town of Kuah as largest town. Langkawi is a duty-free island.[1]
On June 1, 2007, Langkawi Island was given a World Geopark status by UNESCO.[5] Three of its main conservation areas in Langkawi Geopark are Machincang Cambrian Geoforest Park, Kilim Karst Geoforest Park and Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest park (Island of the Pregnant Maiden Lake). These three parks are the most popular tourism area within Langkawi Geopark.
There are two island areas: the Southern Islands, with a heavy tourist population and the islands to the north east which are more secluded without tourist traffic. Langun Island has a fresh-water lake like Pregnant Maiden Lake only without the tourists and has Sand Spit Beach on its south-facing orientation. Dendang Island next to it forms a bay popular with Langkawi sailing yacht tour operators who favour the area for its natural beauty and peace.[citation needed]
Some of the most popular beaches are Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah, Burau Bay, Pantai Kok, and Datai Bay. Pantai Cenang is a picturesque beach with seemingly unending stretches of fine white sand. It has numerous restaurants and bars for evening entertainment, several hosting live music and for watching the sun set. The beach is contoured by tall coconuts and casuarinas. Pantai Tengah is separated from Cenang by a small cape. It too faces the setting sun and is populated more by hotels than bars, making it less busy in the evening. Burau Bay, fringed by rocky outcrops, is the favorite place of migratory birds in Langkawi. Pantai Kok is a peaceful beach with the backdrop of limestone hills. Datai Bay has a combination of forests and sea. The milky beach is backed by lush forest.
The Langkawi Cable Car takes visitors up to the peak of Gunung Mat Chinchang, where the Langkawi Sky Bridge is located.
Tourists can enter the island via ferry from Kuala Perlis or by flight from Kuala Lumpur. AirAsia and Fireflyz provides budget connection to the island.
The island of Langkawi can be reached by sea and air. The Langkawi Jetty Point connects the island to main destinations like Kuala Perlis, Kuala Kedah, George Town, Penang and Tamalang. There's also ferry service to Satun town and to Ko Lipe island in Thailand. The Langkawi International Airport is one of 7 international airports in Malaysia and connects the island to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Penang, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Phuket and also Subang. On the island, a main road runs through the whole island.

About Us!
If you had told me a year ago that we were going to sell all of our stuff to start backpacking the world, I would have called you a liar. Decisions like the one we made start with an inflection point. A point where you realize that life can never be the same anymore. After a challenging, and painful year in 2017, we decided we needed to go out and live the life we wanted to live, instead of watching it on someone else’s YouTube Channel. We had given everything we had, physically and emotionally, for other’s dreams and were ready to work that hard for ourselves. From rock bottom, Chase for Adventure was born.
The Chase Begins
We moved in with our parents, sold everything we own including our cars, and paid off $70,000 worth of debt. We worked 70hrs/week over the last year trying to save up $15,000 to make our dreams come true. Now, we are travel journalists who showcase the beauty in different cultures and inspire others to chase their dreams through our YouTube Channel and website Chase for Adventure. We want to show others that if they want something bad enough, they’ll figure out how to get it; show people who are struggling that they can make the light at the end of their tunnel. Chase for Adventure is more than just a travel vlog and blog; it’s the chronicles of what it’s like to have a dream and do whatever it takes to attain it.

Best Surprise Swim: Seven Wells Waterfall in Langkawi
Langkawi is an island with gorgeous beaches, lush jungles, great local food, and of course, WATERFALLS!
Most tourists visit the Langkawi SkyCab and Sky Bridge, then visit the Seven Wells Waterfall. We skipped the cable car, but oh man, did we enjoy the Seven Wells.
Locally called Telaga Tujuh, Seven Wells Waterfall is named for the seven natural pools formed above the falls. And they are fantastic. Make sure to hike all the way to the top for the ultimate swim experience.
Caveat: We were very careful in the pool on the edge. Do NOT cross the barrier for the falls. Use caution near the pool edges since the rocks are very slippery. And most importantly check the local seasonal safety guides for high water and flood warnings if you visit during the rainy season.
But please—take a dip, slide around, splash around, and have fun.

Telaga Tujuh Waterfall - Langkawi Malaysia
Vlog 7: SEVEN WELLS WATER FALL, LANGKAWI | Wanderlust On Wheel
Seven Well Water Fall is a giant and beautiful waterfalls present in lushly green forest ahead of Langkawi Sky cable. Its an half day adventure if you are in Langkawi and worth visiting.
Known locally as Telaga Tujuh, Seven Wells Waterfall is so named because seven natural pools have been formed at different levels by water streams that flow down the second highest mountain of Langkawi - Mount Mat Cincang. This is the most picturesque and undoubtedly the best waterfall in the island.
You need to hike from the car park. There are two ways of watching the waterfall. If you are not too keen climbing and tiring yourself and like to take a quick look of the vertical waterfall, then take a short walk up the service road that leads from the car park and take the left turn to reach the bottom of the falls. You will get great view of the fall from here. If you want, you can even bathe at the natural shallow pool here.
But the real fun is when you reach up to the top of the fall. And nothing comes easy. You can either continue along the steep service road (this time take the right instead) or take the stairs from the car park (behind the stalls) that goes all the way up to the top. There are 638 steps to climb and the total altitude at which you will finally reach the top of the waterfall is about 480 meters. There are signs on the way showing how many steps are remaining and height to climb further. So if you are going to the top, take easy and slow steps. The pathway goes through the rainforest of Mount Mat Cincang where you will hopefully see lots of flora and fauna including bird life.

Langkawi Malaysia 2018. Durian Perangin Waterfall. Langkawi Waterfalls
Langkawi Malaysia 2018. Durian Perangin is a 14-tier waterfall, which means that you can view different sections of the falls at various altitude levels. Each section of the fall is wonderful and most having formed a natural pool at its base where you can choose to take a dip or swim. The water is clean and crystal clear in all the pools.
The waterfall comes down the northern slope of Gunung Raya which is the highest mountain in the island. The walk is through the wonderful forested parkland which is full of lush greenery, rock formations, flora and fauna. Along the way you will see different kinds of trees including the Durian tree, money plant creepers, Periang, Rattans, Rengas, Temak and more. Look around and you will be thrilled with the bird life here.

Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls (Seven Wells) of Langkawi, Malaysia
It was the bottom of the Park in the 'challenge Langkawi mountain' fall a week earlier. The water is clear and who call us all by pouring water, it wasn't part of the rainy season, but nonetheless really impressive. The walk is mainly established several concrete steps going to the crest of the waterfall...
