Telstra Hill, Mt Isa, Queensland, Australia
Got some great shots but I learnt a hard lesson as the weather radar does sweeps and it knocked my Mavic Air out of the sky over 100m. I spent 2 hours trekking through spinifex and drone only has a scratch. This will be my last video of telstra Hill! ????
Four Mile Hill - Telstra Hill Mount Isa
Four Mile Hill or Telstra Hill Mount Isa July 2019. Special thanks to Eric. Eric caught up with us and very kindly drove us in his car to what he claimed to be the best lookouts in the area. I must say, it was the best lookout in town, far better than the better known one in town. It is on private property so as we were with Eric, we were able to go and see it via his car, but other locals who know it had to drive up the very steep hill. The view from this hill reminded me of Willpeana Pound in South Australia. Just hill after hill after hill. But not normal hills, they were red hills with bright green trees on them with brilliant white trunks. The ground was so dry, so full of red rock, there was no moisture or the site of good soil anywhere but still the spinifex and trees were looking so healthy and green. This view is so Australian, something you only see here outback in our great country. While up there, he also gave me a good look at the towns repeater also, VK4RMI. I think this repeater has one of the best views in the country. A great setup from the local club with very few members in it. This goes to show, you can do things as a club, even if you don't have heaps of members. He not only showed us this fantastic lookout, but gave my girls a fantastic show and tell present from the deepest mine in Australia. My girls were thrilled.
