Bushcraft Lessons from Aboriginal Elder | Baird Bros. Temagami Wilderness Ep. 5
After 7 days of sweating and swearing the Baird Bros. finally reach their destination. Alex is an aboriginal elder who lives off the grid in the Temagami wilderness. This is also Buck's return home, as Alex gave him to Jim years ago. The brothers learn all about the ways Alex survives in the woods. They get lessons on setting snares, how to make a moose call out of birch bark, inspect Alex's arrowhead collection, and forage for local plants. It feels good to relax and put the paddle down and best of all....no portaging!

Temagami Backcountry: Obabika River Canoe Route
We embarked on a 4 day canoe trip to Temagami's Obabika River Provincial Park in 2011. This trip would take us down the remote and scenic Obabika River. We also visited the Obabika Old Growth Forest and hiked the Wakimika Triangle trails through the worlds largest reaming old growth red and white pine forest. This trip had a challenging drive to get there up an old logging road but it was all part of the journey.

Temagami 2017 Honeymoon on Lake Temagami
*****VIDEO QUALITY DOES GET BETTER AFTER THE START**** On this trip we enjoyed the beautiful Lake Temagami for our honeymoon. We had 6 nights in the backcountry and the area did not disappoint. With stands of old growth white pines, 1000's of years old forests, and the rumbling roar of a logging truck passing by on Red Squirrel Rd, it was the classic Northern Ontario experience. We took the controversial logging road and parked at the public access point right beside Camp Wanapitei. After a portage from the parking area we touched water in Sandy Inlet and paddled across to our first campsite. After a couple of nights with the crappy weather we decided to just push through the wind and head on to another site. We took the portage beside the Mt Napolean lookout trail and got a good look of it from below as we paddled up. We finished our trip on the next site and explored the area from there as the weather let up for us later into the trip. Please support our first video and share with your friends. Thank you.

Temagami Ontario Canada flv YouTube
Temagami is the reality that fuels the popular perception of Canada's great North land, with old growth pine forests; smooth blue waters; brilliantly white, powdery snow; and bountiful fish and wildlife.
Temagami is steeped in history. Some of the world's oldest rock has surfaced here, and has been scraped and smoothed by centuries of glaciation. Artifacts and stone drawings dating as far back 6000 B.C. have been discovered here. Grey Owl, the mysterious naturalist who captured the world's imagination back in the 1930s, has become a part of the Temagami landscape. Over the centuries, people have been drawn to the area as if by a magnet. Temagami is truly a place of mystical magic, an adventurer's mecca.
Temagami has been a renowned centre for outdoor and wilderness recreation for over 100 years.
3 Days Backcountry With Wife and Dog Fishing Camping in Temagami Canada
#Camping #Dog #Fishing
My Wife Heather our dog Bella and I take 3 days in the backcountry fishing, camping and exploring a small section of Temagami in Ontario Canada. We love to travel in this manner but although our dog Bella is great in many ways she gets very wound up when we fish and can often make canoeing with her challenging. We are determined to bring here anyway and it gets interesting at times. Despite this Heather manages to catch her first Pike and several nice Smallmouth Bass and we cook a nice fresh fish meal as a complement.
We camp at beautiful sites catch and cook cook fish make camp poutine, pancakes and just enjoy our time in the Beautiful Canadian wilderness.

Backcountry Canoeing, Camping and Hiking with Kids | Temagami, Ontario, Canada
Temagami wilderness adventures - we did some awesome and unforgettable canoeing, portaging, hiking and camping.
We were paddling past White Bear Forest and we found a tiny island in Blueberry Lake where we put down our tent and hammocks.
Temagami is a big place. It’s a place of huge, old-growth pines, deep, clear lakes, rugged portages, and ancient history.
The old-growth red and white pines in Temagami represent the last remaining 1% of this type of forest in the world, with some trees over 400 years old.
We hope you enjoyed watching our outdoors adventure!

Website temagami.ca
Temagami, formerly spelled as Timagami, is a municipality in northeastern Ontario, Canada, in Nipissing District with Lake Temagami at its heart.
The Temagami region is known as n'Daki Menan, the homeland of the area's Aboriginal community, most of whom are Anishnaabe (Ojibwe), living on Bear Island. The official name for this group is the Temagami First Nation. However, a larger group that includes these people, plus non-status residents and some non-residents is called the Teme-Augama Anishnabai.
Some of the main tourist attractions within the community include old-growth red and white pine, Lake Temagami, Caribou Mountain, fishing, showings of Grey Owl from the 1930s, and over 4,000 km of canoe routes.
It is also known as the staging point for cottage vacationing and wilderness canoeing trips on Lake Temagami, in Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park, and vast tracts of wilderness in the area. There are several outfitters here that cater to outdoor activity, including Smoothwater Outfitters and Ecolodge.
The community is home to the Finlayson Point Provincial Park, which itself offers access to Lake Temagami. An excellent view of the entire Temagami area is offered by the Temagami Fire Tower on Caribou Mountain, a renovated 100-foot (30 m)-tall fire lookout tower that visitors can climb for a small fee. The Temagami Fire Tower was last used in the 1970s to spot fires. The original fire tower built here was 45 feet (14 m) high and made of square timber.
The Municipality of Temagami also includes the communities of Lake Temagami, Marten River, and Temagami North.
