Thank you for watching this ultimate Kenyan street food tour in Nairobi! I met up with my friend James who took me around to a few of his favorite spots to eat.
Kawangware, Nairobi, Kenya
Here's most of the food we tried on this amazing tour of Nairobi:
Ann Restaurant - Dagoretti Corner - This small street food stall on Dagoretti Corner in Nairobi serves all sorts of Kenyan / East African foods. Their chapatis are especially good, and their Lake Victoria sardines fried with tomatoes.
Chapati
Dagaa - Lake Victoria sardine
Matumbo - stomach stew
Githeri - beans and maize
The guy sitting across the table - “you should not eat beans and sardines together, or you’ll have gas.”
Total bill - 1,050 KES ($10.39) - we paid for 4 or 5 guys eating there
Stomach Clinix - This was the best food stop of the day, a neighborhood meat shop that James took me to that specializes in cow head soup. The grilled tongue was also spectacular, but the soup was the best.
Total price - 200 KES ($1.98)
Dagoretti Market - After the meat, we took a walk over to Dagoretti Market. After browsing around for a while, we stopped for another plate of mixed Kenyan food, mostly dengu, which are mung beans. It was simple, but quite good.
Dengu - mung beans
Total price - 300 KES ($2.97)
Unity Cafe Hotel - We met up with some of James' friend in Kawangware, and went to eat across the street from their shoe shop. The mandazi mix was the highlight of this Kenyan meal.
Total price - 600 KES ($5.94) for all
Cow foot fry - Next we headed over to Oscar who makes cow food soup, fry and boil. He was a very friendly man, and showed me his entire process of making cow foot soup. It was delicious!
Total price - 450 KES ($4.45)
Kenyan street food - To end this Kenyan street food tour of Nairobi we had to eat one of the ultimate Kenyan fast food meat treats. You'll see these types of grills all over the streets in the late afternoon throughout Nairobi. You just choose what you want, it's cut on the chopping board, and you stand and eat.
Esophagus
Intestines
Mutura - minced meat sausage
Mutura - blood sausage
Udder
Total price - 200 KES ($1.97)
Thank you for watching this ultimate Nairobi street food tour!

Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya, is a sovereign state in East Africa. The capital and largest city is Nairobi. Kenya lies on the equator with the Indian Ocean to the south-east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the north-west, Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the north-east. Kenya covers 581,309 km2 (224,445 sq mi) and has a population of about 44 million in July 2012.
The country is named after Mount Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa.
Mount Kenya was originally referred to as Mt. Kirinyaga by the indigenous people. Kirinyaga or Kerenyaga, meaning 'mountain of whiteness' because of its snow capped peak; The name was subsequently changed to Mt. Kenya because of the inability of the British to pronounce Kirinyaga correctly.
The country has a warm and humid climate along its Indian Ocean coastline, with wildlife-rich savannah grasslands inland towards the capital. Nairobi has a cool climate that gets colder approaching Mount Kenya, which has three permanently snow-capped peaks. Further inland there is a warm and humid climate around Lake Victoria, and temperate forested and hilly areas in the western region.
The northeastern regions along the border with Somalia and Ethiopia are arid and semi-arid areas with near-desert landscapes. Lake Victoria, the world's second largest fresh-water lake and the world's largest tropical lake, is situated to the southwest and is shared with Uganda and Tanzania. Kenya is famous for its safaris and diverse wildlife reserves and national parks such as the East and West Tsavo National Park, the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Aberdares National Park. There are several world heritage sites such as Lamu, and world renowned beaches such as Kilifi where international yachting competitions are held each year.
The African Great Lakes region, of which Kenya is a part, has been inhabited by humans since the Lower Paleolithic period. The Bantu expansion reached the area from West-Central Africa by the first millennium AD, and the borders of the modern state comprise the crossroads of the Niger-Congo, Nilo-Saharan and Afro-Asiatic ethno-linguistic areas of the continent, making Kenya a multi-cultural country.
European and Arab presence in Mombasa dates to the Early Modern period, but European exploration of the interior began only in the 19th century. The British Empire established the East Africa Protectorate in 1895, known from 1920 as the Kenya Colony. The Republic of Kenya became independent in December 1963. Following a referendum in August 2010 and adoption of a new constitution, Kenya is now divided into 47 semi-autonomous counties, governed by elected governors.
The capital, Nairobi, is a regional commercial hub. The economy of Kenya is the largest by GDP in East and Central Africa. Agriculture is a major employer and the country traditionally exports tea and coffee, and more recently fresh flowers to Europe. The service industry is a major economic driver. Kenya is a member of the East African Community.

Magadi Trip day trip by Kenya Outdoors Video by Muraguri
Depart from Nairobi in the morning, and head south towards the Ngong Hills (made famous from Karen Blixen’s, Out of Africa).
Before we descend over the escarpment, we stop for photos and views across the Great Rift Valley. Then descend over the Ngong Hills, continuing south into a semi-arid landscape, upto lake Magadi. We approach the lake from the eastern side via the Magadi town and past the Magadi Soda factory. Enter the Lake Magadi reserve area and continue onto the hot springs where for swimming and wading in the springs (if the weather is not too hot). We may meet the
local Maasai who use the lake daily for swimming. It is possible to see animals around Magadi like zebra, gazelle, impala and warthog.
Relax at the Swimming Club Restaurant (you can order lunch or do swimming) before returning to Nairobi around 7pm.

At 580,367 square kilometres (224,081 sq mi), Kenya is the world's 48th largest country by total area. With a population of more than 52.2 million people, Kenya is the 27th most populous country. Kenya's capital and largest city is Nairobi while its oldest city and first capital is the coastal city of Mombasa. Kisumu City is the third largest city and also an inland port on Lake Victoria. Other important urban centres include Nakuru and Eldoret.
Kenya is bordered by South Sudan to the North West, Ethiopia to the North, Somalia to the East, Uganda to the West, Tanzania to the South and the Indian Ocean to the South-East.
Nilotic-speaking pastoralists (ancestral to Kenya's Nilotic speakers) started migrating from present-day Southern Sudan into Kenya around 500 BC. European colonisation of Kenya began in the 19th century during the European exploration of the interior. The modern-day Kenya emerged from a protectorate established by the British Empire in 1895 and the subsequent Kenya Colony, which began in 1920. Numerous disputes between the UK and the colony led to the Mau Mau revolution, which began in 1952, and the subsequent declaration of independence in 1963. After independence, Kenya remained a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The current constitution was adopted in 2010 to replace the 1963 independence constitution.
Kenya is a presidential representative democratic republic, in which elected officials represent the people and the president is the head of state and government. Kenya is a member of United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, COMESA, and other international organisations. With a GNI of 1,460, Kenya is a lower-middle-income economy. Kenya's economy is the largest in eastern and central Africa. with Nairobi serving as a major regional commercial hub. Agriculture is the largest sector; tea and coffee are traditional cash crops, while fresh flowers are a fast-growing export. The service industry is also a major economic driver, particularly tourism. Kenya is a member of the East African Community trade bloc, though some international trade organisations categorise it as part of the Greater Horn of Africa. Africa is Kenya's largest export market, followed by the European Union.

Humpback whales in watamu becomes a key attraction in Kenya’s coastal tourism
On matters tourism now humpback whale watching along Kenya’s coast is becoming a key attraction in Kenya’s coastal tourism calendar. This comes at a time when hotels and service providers in watamu are reporting increased demand for whale watching excursions by tourists over the last three months. The ongoing humpback whale migration is seen as a boon for the sector according to Kenya tourism board chief executive officer, Dr. Betty Radier.

Shocking how Kenya is planning to colonize other Eastern African countries
Large Cargo destined for the Western part of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo will now be delivered straight to the famous Rift valley town known as Naivasha Inland Container Depot.
Regional customers will pick their cargo from Naivasha Inland Container Depot instead of coming all the way to the Nairobi Inland Container Depot or Mombasa.
SUBSCRIBE for more
With this development, the Kenyan adminstration will take cargo closer to the customer. This as well will also reduce the number of trucks on the section of the highway between Naivasha and Nairobi Inland Container Depot by diverting the trucks to the Naivasha Inland Container Depot.
The dry port of Naivasha Inland Container Depot also increases Kenya's cargo handling capacity and helps decongest the Port of Mombasa and the Nairobi Inland Container Depot. East Africa on the rise.
