Places to see in ( Pompei - Italy ) Tempio di Venere
The temple of Venus is a temple to the Roman era , buried by ' eruption of Vesuvius in 79 and found as a result of the archaeological excavations of the' ancient Pompeii : was the temple where he was worshiped the patron deity of the city , and one of the sumptuous.
The construction of the temple of Venus, in a panoramic position on the surrounding plain and the Gulf of Naples, dates back to the period immediately after the foundation of Pompeii as a Roman colony , in the period that followed the conquest by Lucio Cornelio Silla; originally in the city there was another temple dedicated to Venus Physics , due either to Aphrodite or Astarte . For its construction, between Porta Marina and the Basilica, it was necessary to demolish several houses , except some along the southern slope used by the priests. It suffered considerable damage as a result of the earthquake in Pompeii of 62 , but instead of closing it to allow restoration, it was decided to build a small votive shrine in order to continue to perform the normal activities during the works. However, in 79 , before the end of the restoration, he was buried under a blanket of ashes and lapilli from the eruption of Vesuvius; explored during the Bourbon period , it had already been completely looted previously of all the marble furnishings.
The temple, surrounded by mighty perimeter walls , expanded during the Julio - Claudian period, had an entrance in the north - east corner and a secondary one in the eastern part; the structure, developed along the north- south axis, was completely surrounded by columns : two rows on the east and west side and one on the north side, while they were absent on the south side; another colonnade was built during the Sillan era and was equipped with gutters to allow the outflow of rainwater. The temple consisted of a podiumabout twenty-nine meters long and about fifteen wide, made of cement and lava : a basalt wall probably acted as an external wall of the cell ; according to some studies it was possible the presence of another podium, then joined to the existing one through a pouring of cement.
The whole temple was decorated in marble, of which very few traces remain, namely the remains of an architrave , columns and a pediment ; even the pavement remains little residue, stolen for its high value already after the earthquake of 62: it was realized by an external strip in white tessellation, a median part in colored marble and a large central area completely destroyed. Other remains have an altar in travertine , two pedestals used as a base for equestrian statues and a staircase and through an underground conduit leading to some residences set on a hillside near the temple

Places to see in ( Pompei - Italy ) Tempio d'Iside
The Temple of Isis is a Roman temple dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis. This small and almost intact temple was among one of the first discoveries during the excavation of Pompeii in 1764. Its role as a Hellenized Egyptian temple in a Roman colony was fully confirmed with an inscription detailed by Francisco la Vega on July 20, 1765. Original paintings and sculptures can be seen at the Museo Archaeologico in Naples; the site itself remains on the Via del Tempio di Iside. In the aftermath of the temple's discovery many well-known artists and illustrators swarmed to the site.
The preserved Pompeian temple is actually the second structure; the original building built during the reign of Augustus was damaged in an earlier earthquake of 62 AD. Seventeen years later with the massive volcanic eruption, the Iseum alone was the sole temple to be completely re-built—ahead even of the Capitolium. Although the Iseum was wedged into a small and narrow space, it received significant foot traffic from theater-goers at the Large Theater, businessmen in the Triangular Forum, and others along the Stabian Gate.
Principal devotees of this temple are assumed to be women, freedmen, and slaves. Initiates of the Isis mystery cult worshipped a compassionate goddess who promised eventual salvation and a perpetual relationship throughout life and after death. The temple itself was reconstructed in honor of a 6-year-old boy by his freedman father, Numerius, to allow the child to enter elite society. Many scenes from the temple are re-created in the dining rooms of Pompeians, however, indicating that many individuals visited this temple for political, economic, or social reasons.
The cult of Isis is thought to have arrived in Pompeii around 100 BCE; following the destruction of the first temple in the earthquake of 62 ACE. Though Isis' origins were in Ancient Egypt, her cult spread widely throughout the Greco-Roman world. The Greeks and Romans always had admiration for Egyptian culture, and before Alexander the Great conquered Egypt, there was a cultural fusion between Greeks and Egyptians.
The Temple of Isis sits on a platform which is elevated off the ground, and entered in by way of stairs. The temple is designed based on a north-east and south-west plan. It features a vaulted roof, drawing attention to the top of the building. This style of roofing was a Roman stylistic influence, yet was becoming phased out by the time the temple was built. Weber, who excavated the temple, speculated that the Temple of Isis was built according to the Corinthian order.

Sicily Travel Guide: Selinunte Archaeological site - Beautiful Greek Temple Tour in Italy
The captivating archeological site of Selinunte on the South-Western coast of Sicily has some of the most impressive ruins you will find in Italy. It contains 5 temples centered on an acropolis that overlooks the sea. The massive Temple of Hera has been erected and is truly a site to see. The Acropolis is surrounded by the ruins of the Ancient Greek city, which was one of the most important Greek colonies in Sicily and once contained up to 30,000 people, excluding slaves.
We visited Selinunte while staying in Trapani. It was an easy day-trip with the drive taking about 1 1/2 hours each way. We made the visit in late July and it was hot! The site is spread out over 5km, so be sure to hire a driver to take you to each ruin in a golf cart.
Don't forget to give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed and to subscribe for more travel content!

Italy, Pompeii - Temple of Vespasian
Photographer:Samuel Magal (samuel@sites-and-photos.com)
The Temple of Vespasian is also referred to as the Sanctuary of the Genius of Augustus. The attribution of the temple is still open to debate, but most archaeologists now think it is more likely to be a temple dedicated to Augustus rather than Vespasian.
Ryeberg Home Movie HD: Pompeii 2013 AD, Italy
We are standing in the Foro, to your left the Mensa Ponderaria, straight ahead the Tempio di Giove, with Mount Vesuvius hovering in the distance. Then we are at the corner of Via delle Terme and Via di Mercurio, marked by the Onarario Arch. Today Pompeii is home to guards, construction workers, archeologists, tour guides, visitors, and stray dogs. Anyone who's visited the city will recognize the little guy at the end of the video.
A little reminder, Pompeii was buried under the ash of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. It was rediscovered in the mid-eighteenth century, and excavations have been going on ever since.

PAESTUM ITALY | The ancient GREEK city in ITALY
The visit to the Greek temples of Paestum is a perfect complement to the Amalfi Coast. Less than an hour by train from Salerno, the archaeological site of this ancient Greco-Roman city houses some of the best preserved Greek temples in the world. Founded as a Greek colony with the name of Poseidonia in the 7th century BC, the Romans changed their name to Paestum after conquering it several centuries later.
The fantastic state of conservation of the buildings is due to the abandonment of the city at the beginning of the Middle Ages, possibly due to the flooding of the surroundings and the presence of mosquitoes carrying malaria. This made Paestum remain in oblivion until the 18th century, when it was rediscovered by travelers and explorers of that time.
Of its three main Doric temples, the formerly named Temple of Neptune (whose cult is now attributed to Hera, but also to Zeus and even Apollo), is the most spectacular of them all. Immortalizing it at twilight with its beautiful illumination was my main photographic goal in Paestum.
Italy travel: Pompeii Altar of the Temple of Vespasian
Italy travel: Pompeii. Our Perillo Tours Familia sees the Temple of Vespasian, beginning with an arch which had such tremendous detail that it was covered in plexiglass for preservation. The video shows that dogs were welcome in Pompeii! The side of the altar facing the forum has a relief carving representing a sacrificial scene. The offering in this scene is a bull, indicating that the sacrifice was for a living emperor.
