They are trying to slander and smudge our public image - and this is going on right now. So we are very much afraid, we have apprehension that if this campaign of blasphemy and bias towards religious minorities continues at this pace, it will inevitably lead to instances of hatred and physical violence against the religious minorities of Russia.

The Krishna sect is a totalitarian one, which determines our position. Our position is as follows: they should stay where they are and should not be allowed under any circumstances to spread their influence over the masses of Muscovites. This is our position of principle.

STORYLINE:
Plans by the tiny community of Krishna followers in Moscow to build a temple are facing strong opposition from the majority religion, Russian Orthodoxy, whose opinion is that the totalitarian sect should stay where it belongs.
At present, the Hare Krishna community has a temporary place for worship and other religious activities inside a residential apartment block, which is so old it has been earmarked for demolition.
The Moscow city government has allocated a piece of land for the construction of a proper temple, but religious groups say the Indian faith has no place in Russia.
The Russian Orthodox Church has gained strength in the wake of the Soviet demise, but it is finding it increasingly difficult to increase its flock in a country that has remained largely atheist for decades.
New arrivals, like protestant groups or Hare Krishna, and even the older denominations like the Roman Catholic Church, are considered competitors, and the church leadership strongly opposes their attempts to recruit more members from among the population they consider Russian Orthodox by birth.

An 18-tonne bell, named 'Alexander Nevsky', arrived at the Saint Alexander Nevsky Monastery in St Petersburg on Monday.
After being cast in Kamensk-Uralsky in the Sverdlovsk region, the bell travelled through 11 Russian cities including Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Samara, Saratov, Penza, Ryazan, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Vologda, Cherepovets and Tikhvin.
It is to be installed in the belfry of the Troitsky Cathedral in the grounds of the monastery in October. The belfry is currently undergoing repairs.
The bell is named after 13th century Russian hero Aleksandr Nevsky, the Grand Prince of Novgorod and Vladimir who was sainted by the Orthodox Church because of his military victories over the Swedes and Germans.

March 2019 / Polevskoy
Spaso-Preobrazhenskaya Chapel (Russia, Middle Ural, g.Polevskoy) MK SEVERSKAYA DOMNA
The first CHAPEL was built of wood on the territory of the Seversky plant in the town of Polevskoy in honor of the centenary of the plant in 1839 of the XIX century. After almost 50 years, due to disrepair, it was dismantled. The decision to build a new chapel was made before the celebration of the 900th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia, which took place in 1888. This is the only chapel in the world completely made of metal. Well, where could it come up? Only in the Urals, in the land of power! The Chapel of the Transfiguration of the Savior was created in Polevskoy at the end of the 19th century. The golden-handed craftsmen of the local plant designed and “assembled” such a huge number, whose history has not kept their names. And about the history of the creation of the chapel it is known: in those years, the senior priest Vladimir Kozhevnikov served Polevskoy in the Holy Trinity Church, who proposed the construction of a metal chapel to the owners of the Seversky Iron Works and its employees. I liked the idea, and for 6 years factory workers and parishioners donated 2 kopeks from each ruble to the construction of the chapel. The archives do not report on participation in the financing of owners. So, a unique lace chapel was set up in Polevskoy, which had no analogues in the world and is not present. But in terrible times for Orthodox churches, back in the 1920s, the chapel was dismantled. Perhaps - passed on the metal, which was needed by the young republic. Or maybe they just took him away, now it is no longer known. There were only photos and drawings in the archives of the plant, which were quietly waiting for their time. And the time has come - in 2001, the then director of the Pipe Plant supported the research work of Boris Nikolayevich Vetluzhskikh. According to the surviving materials, a draft was prepared, and the chapel was restored. Originally, a new chapel was installed opposite the building of the Seversky Pipe Plant, and on July 13, 2001, the Archbishop of Yekaterinburg and Verkhotursk Vincent consecrated the shrine. In 2013, the chapel was moved to a new place, on the territory of the MK Seversk blast furnace and painted in historical colors, here it stands to this day! Every year on August 19, on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, a procession takes place at the chapel.

Kursk Icon and Bishop Nicholas' homily at Holy Apostles
Visitation of the Kursk Root Icon
to Holy Apostles in Beltsville, Maryland
On Friday evening, November 27th, 2015, the parishioners of Holy Apostles were vouchsafed a wondrous visitation of the Mother of God. Bishop Nicholas brought the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Sign to us.
Following are some parts of his homily to us:
“I greet Father, and the parishioners: on this small Feast Day, when we have a visitation from the Kursk Icon. The Mother of God is with us. This is not the first time the holy icon has visited your parish. She has been here before. This year the icon has traveled extensively. [to Australia, Europe, Germany, France, Belgium, and 29 days in Russia – Kursk, Ekaterinburg, Oofa) In this timespan, I kid you not, about half a million people came to venerate the Kursk Icon. There are barricades… people wait from five to twelve hours, just to have a few seconds with the Theotokos.
Here the icon has returned, to us, to our parish, to each one of us. And we need to ask ourselves, “How is it this, that the Mother of our Lord, should come to me? … She truly is visiting each one of us, personally. We have our joys, and our sorrows, our hardships, our sins, and the Mother of God came today, to listen to us, to help us….
Truly the Mother of the Lord is our mother, and she has come back to us… and as our mother, she prays to her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, on our behalf. But we need to open our hearts, and our minds, and our eyes, to truly understand that this miracle is with us, this wonderworking image is with us, and ask her to help.
We are living, we all know, in difficult times, strange times, where the name of God, Christianity, is being persecuted, very openly. We sometimes ask ourselves, we ask in prayer, “Why is God allowing this? Why is this happening to me, to my family, to my country? Where is the sign from God that He is with us?”
Let’s open our eyes and understand: the Mother of God is with us today. This miracle, for over 700 years, in its existence, millions and millions have prayed before this image. And now, we have this opportunity, this miracle that we’ve been asking for, this sign from God, this comfort….
Let us understand, this is not simply another visit of the Kursk icon. It is not simply driving by. No. We need to cherish each moment we have with the holy Theotokos, and be grateful, that truly we are not alone. We have our Orthodox Faith, we have God, the Theotokos, our heavenly protectors, the apostles, and all the saints.
So let us not be sad, or sorrowful, concerned. But let us be diligent, mindful, and truly joyous, that after visiting the four corners of the earth, the Mother of God quietly, and peacefully, chose to be with us today….
Do we really fulfill our prayer, or do we want to pray more? I think we should never be satisfied with how we pray, with how we fast, in how we live our Christian lives. We need to listen to these very simple words from this simple man in Russia, who said, “We did not have enough time to fulfill our prayer (with the Mother of God’s Kursk icon) “
We should always want to do more. This is what I wish for all of us – to truly continue leading our Orthodox Christian lives, to be grateful to God and to the holy Virgin, and for the blessing of this visit of the Kursk Icon, but to not be satisfied, but to want to do more, to want to pray more, to want to truly be exemplary Orthodox Christians in this day and age when we need to see shining stars amongst the darkness.
Again I greet Father, and all of you, on this Friday, but small Feast Day. Because truly the Mother of God is with us. I thank the choir for singing, and all of you for coming. Please, we are in no rush. Come, venerate the holy icon. We have icons to hand out as a blessing. Keep the icons in your homes, in your bedrooms, where you have your icon corner. And truly know that even though the actual image is not with you physically, the protection of the Mother of God, her whole omophorion is surrounding you and your family. Amen.”

The churches and cathedrals participating in this unique performance include St. Aleksander Nevsky Cathedral, the Church of St. Nicholas the Miracle-Worker, the Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, the Roman-Catholic Church of St Peter and St Paul, Episcopal Dome Church, St. Olaf's Church, the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, the Ukrainian-Greek Catholic Church, the Lutheran Church of Charles XI and St. John's Church.

SUMMARY
=======
The degrees of Eastern Orthodox monasticism are the stages an Eastern Orthodox monk or nun passes through in their religious vocation.
In the Eastern Orthodox Church, the process of becoming a monk or nun is intentionally slow, as the monastic vows taken are considered to entail a lifelong commitment to God, and are not to be entered into lightly. After completing the novitiate, there are three degrees of or steps in conferring the monastic habit.
