Tenkaiho Observatory: Sasebo Japan
This little lookout is about a 15 min drive from main base (maybe less depending on traffic). It is pretty small but you get a nice relaxing view. The field was being worked on bit from what I have seen online, it is usually filled with grass and flowers. We just happened to go during a time when it wasnt filled with flowers. They also have a little place for snacks and drinks (he speaks a bit on english).

Father's day mini cruise for the hubby!! We took a 50 min cruise boat around 21 out of the 99 islands (208 total) and it was absolutely amazing and breathtaking. We absolutely loved it. You get to chose between the pirate inspired ship like we rode and a pearl white elegant ship. Depending on the kids age they can ride for free adults are about $12 usd converted, it's all well worth it.

99 Islands Kujukushima Boat Cruise - Sasebo, Japan

This takes you on a trip through the 99 islands of Sasebo (there are actually 208 islands) This was such a fun trip, and winding in and out of the numerous islands showed the beauty of the area!

Kujukushima Tenkaiho 九十九島 展海峰 8KHDR
Kujukushima is an archipelago of Rias coast lined with Sasebo City in Nagasaki Prefecture and the west coast of Kitamatsuura Peninsula to Hirado City.
All former Kitamatsuura-gun. The total number of islands is now officially set at 208. This is based on the 2001 survey by the Sasebo City, etc. on the Study on the Number Survey of the Ninety Nine Islands, but there are discords with the island definition. According to the field survey by Seiji Koji, author of “Seikai National Park – Kujukushima Island and Whole Island Picture Book” (Gebunsha), there are 216 on the basis that the plants are grown independently from other land areas at high tide .
Most of them are uninhabited islands and reefs, and there are four manned islands inhabited: Kuroshima, Takashima, and Maejima and Todarishima, which can be bridged from the mainland by a bridge.
Hirado lord Matsuura Shizuyama copied the name to the Ikuta Kujukushima island in Akita Prefecture. Taitaka Ino who visited the survey has left a lyrical song, saying, “Shinjyo no Ainoura (Aigamiura Aiura) Ikuno Jukushima Ikuno Matsubara”.
On the way to the Sasa river mouth, the north side is sometimes called the north ninety nine island and the south side is the south ninety nine island. In the South Kujukushima Island, a pleasure boat Pearl Queen departs from Saikai Pearl Sea Resort in Kagoshima, Sasebo City, and marine sports such as sea kayaking and yachts are popular. It has been selected as one of Japan's 100 views.
In addition, it is also a production area of oysters (both natural and aquaculture), and events by local fishermen's cooperatives are also held in winter.
Sasebo City has designated September 19th as the day of the ninety nine islands since 1999, and has held the ninety nine island festival at the Saikai Pearl Sea Resort the day before.
On April 20, 2018, it was certified to join the world's most beautiful Bay Club.
九十九島（くじゅうくしま）は、長崎県の佐世保市、平戸市にかけての北松浦半島西岸に連なるリアス式海岸の群島である。
全て旧北松浦郡。島の総数は現在公式には208とされている。これは佐世保市等による「九十九島の数調査研究会」の2001年時点調査によるものであるが、島の定義等により異説もある。『西海国立公園 九十九島全島図鑑』（芸文社）著者の澤恵二による実地調査では、満潮時に他の陸地から独立して海面上にあり、植物が生えているという基準で216あるという。
殆どは無人島や岩礁で、人が住む有人島は黒島、高島、それに本土から橋で行き来できる前島と鼕泊（とうどまり）島の４つである。
平戸藩主松浦静山が、秋田県の象潟九十九島（くじゅうくしま）に倣い名づけた。測量に訪れた伊能忠敬は、『七十に 近き春にぞ あひの浦（相神浦〈相浦〉） 九十九島を いきの松原』と狂歌を残している。
途中の佐々川河口を境として北側を「北九十九島」、南側を「南九十九島」と呼ぶことがある。南九十九島は遊覧船「パールクィーン」が佐世保市鹿子前（かしまえ）の西海パールシーリゾートから出航している他、シーカヤックやヨット等のマリンスポーツも盛んである。日本百景に選定されている。
また、カキの生産地（天然・養殖とも）でもあり、冬場には地元漁協によるイベントも行われる。
佐世保市は1999年より9月19日を「九十九島の日」としており、この日前後に西海パールシーリゾートで「九十九島の祭典」を開催している。
2018年4月20日、世界で最も美しい湾クラブに加盟することが認定された。

Adventures in Japan 日本 | Kujukushima Umikirara Pearl Sea Aquarium | has a Fish bigger than a human?
new adventure in japan! we went to the Kujukushima Umikirara Aquarium to have the japanese aquarium experience 20 minute bus ride from sasebo station.
The aquarium has different areas for people to enjoy simultaneously. for starters, it has the Goto Marine tank which has large fishes and turtles casually swimming around, next would be the feeding tanks where during specific times of the day people could watch as the staff demonstrate how they feed and what do they feed the fishes in the biggest tank in the aquarium. and also they have the dolphin show which on specific times showcase the talented dolphin family of 3 the mother, father and baby dolphin enjoying and doing tricks while interacting with the crowd. so much creatures can be seen and enjoyed in this sea park.
aside from the aquarium itself, the park has different restaurants around the vicinity of the park and it has its own SHIPS(yes with an S because they have 2 ships, not small boats, SHIPS) to tour people around the famous 99 islands. more information regarding that i will include the website link below.

Today we had our doors open because of the heat. We had an Asian Longhored (Long-Horned) Beetle come visit us. It was very interesting and it nice to see it up close. I wish I had caught it in a cup so I could take some better video and photos of it.

向後崎警備所
向後崎警備所は佐世保湾の入り口に位置し、1990年に廃止されるまで、米軍と自衛隊が佐世保港に出入りする船舶の警備を行っていました。
