Nice cool ( temperature wise) place to stay up on the side of Rinjani on Lombok Indonesia.
We stayed at Ariel Bungalow which was about $10 USD a night incl breakfast. Should book ahead either direct with them or through Agoda as they only have 2 bungalows. Bring some earplugs cause the mountain dogs fire up and start howling through the night

Many say that Lombok is an untouched Bali, meaning that Lombok looks like Bali before it was developed into a world-class tourist destination. Both islands do have many similarities, especially in terms of the size and natural conditions.
Bali can be considered as a tourist attraction that has been maximized to become a world-class tourist destination. Compared to that, Lombok is relatively underdeveloped, but you can see the similarity in many places, one of which is Tetebatu which has many similarities with Ubud.
Tetebatu rice terraces
The first similarities between Tetebatu with Ubud is that both have very beautiful rice terraces. You can enjoy the tranquil views of rice terraces that provide serenity to your soul. What makes the landscape in Tetebatu more special is that it has magnificent Mount Rinjani as a background.
You can enjoy not only a view of rice terraces but also spectacular lush green forests. Because Tetebatu is still not as popular as Ubud, you will not find many tourists in this tourist village.
Monkey Forest
Tetebatu Tourist Park is a bit like Ubud Monkey Forest. From the tourist village, you have to walk about 4 km to the north to arrive at this monkey forest. As the name suggests, you will find many black monkeys here.
You can explore this forest, preferably with the company of an experienced guide so that you don’t get lost in this vast jungle. Not only monkeys, you will also find many species of birds, unspoiled forest vegetation, and shady natural pathways.
Tetebatu waterfalls
There are several waterfalls that you can found in the vicinity of Tetebatu Village. One of them is the hidden waterfall, located in a dark natural alley with a stable flow. To get here, you need to walk along a small stream with cliffs around you.
In search of hidden waterfall
Vines and other natural vegetation will protect you from the sun so trekking here will not feel too hot. Aside from that, there are still several waterfalls that you can find around this village.
Ulem-Ulem Valley
Ulem-Ulem Valley is a small aqueduct located in the middle of a forest built by the people of Tetebatu. You can find a calm lake here. In addition, there is a small waterfall that will add to the naturally calming atmosphere. There is also green forest that surrounds this small pond.
This place is not very well known, therefore not many tourists come here. It means that you can enjoy this place more calmly without having to fight for the best place with other tourists.
Tetebatu is relatively underdeveloped tourist destination.
Tetebatu is not entirely similar to Ubud, that is for sure. Tetebatu is much quieter since there are not many tourists here. It is also much cheaper compared to Ubud.

Tetebatu | Rice Terraces Heaven Lombok | Indonesia
Tetebatu is a village close to the south boundary of Mount Rinjani National Park.
It is a scenic rural area 700m above sea level.
It gives visitors the chance to experience real, traditional village life in Lombok.
The area is well known for its cultural attractions. Traditional Sasak handicraft artisans spread around the village in this area. Products include black terracotta, basketry and weaving.
The nearby town of Kotaraja is best known in Lombok for its traditional Sasak stick fighting, and the village has a long tradition of producing forged blacksmith tools. There is also held a local market every Monday and Wednesday morning.

During the fifth week on our Lombok adventure we stayed in the mountain village Tetebatu in East Lombok.
Mountain views, monkeys in the forest, peaceful rice paddies and gorgeous waterfalls made our stay so special. But the most exciting thing were the wonderful encounters we had with the local people. I highly recommend to visit Tetebatu.

CENTRAL LOMBOK | OFF THE GRID EXPLORING BENANG STOKEL, BENANG KELAMBU & TETEBATU
Central Lombok is an area in the world that will forever be one of my favourite ever travel destinations. Less visited than it's neighbouring island Bali, Lombok has so much natural beauty to show off that any traveller will appreciate.
We took a few bikes from the south of the island in Koeta and travelled to the central region of Lombok Island to visit some of Lombok's best watefalls, Benang Stokel & Benang Kelambu. When we arrived, we paid 100,000IDR each to have a private guide to all of the waterfalls in the region...possibly some of the best money I have ever spent in Indonesia.
We were taken right off the grid, into the jungle and shown hidden waterfalls surrounded by beautiful green jungle, it really is an adventurers paradise. This was actually my second time visiting these waterfalls but last time there were no guides to take you to the hidden waterfalls of Sesere and Kliwun waterfalls respectively - so it was nice to have a new experience at the same place.
After an incredible jungle trek, we took our bikes and rode to Tetebatu, a village at the base of Mount Rinjani. This tiny little area is home to one of the coolest rice terraces I've seen in Indonesia, not only is it beautiful but there is not another tourist in sight! Perfect if you wanna get shots of the beautiful scenery with nobody in the way!
Anyways, this Central Lombok video has turned out to be one of the best days of my travels and I hope that this video shows you what Lombok has to offer!
