A quick walk from the area near the Marco Polo Guest House (for budget tourists) to the Kathmandu Guest House (for those with more finances). Thamel is tourist and trekking central for Kathmandu.

Discovering Kashi Swayambhunath | NEWROAD TO THAMEL Walk - This travel vlog covers our walk from Newroad to Thamel in Kathmandu, Nepal, where we saw many sights and uexpectedly came upon Kashi Swayambhunath temple. We bought some local Nepalese Masala and Cinnamon tea and took in the local atmosphere. We had a fun walk around the city and enjoyed talking to the locals of Kathmandu in Nepal. In this vlog, You will see my first international journey of kathmandu, capital city of Nepal. Kathmandu is a very old city in the world. I started my journey by bus from delhi. And after reaching there I went to hotel and from next day I started my trip from very famous Baudh Nath stupa and then went to Pashupati nath temple, Durbar square ( A place where kings of Nepal and Royal families used to live) . And at evening I went to Thamel. Thamel is the most happening place of kathmandu. It has casino, pubs, dance bars, clothes shop and lots of cafe and restaurants. I visited Bon Apetite cafe which was a fabulous cafe. And finally I ended my journey of kathmandu visiting Swayambhu temple next day early morning. I had a great time at kathmandu. I loved Thamel market.

It's my first video from Nepal. After kathmandu will go to pokhara and Mustang. Stay connected a lot more is about to cme.

Thamel is a commercial neighbourhood located in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Thamel has been the centre of the tourist industry in Kathmandu for over four decades, starting from the hippie days when many artists came to Nepal and spent weeks in Thamel.

This video is about Thamel walking street at Kathmandu in Nepal.I have explored Thamel must watch it.

Thamel is known by its narrow alleys crowded with various shops and vendors. Commonly sold goods include food, fresh vegetables/fruits, pastries, trekking gear, walking gear, music, DVDs, handicrafts, souvenirs, woolen items and clothes. Travel agencies, small grocery stores, budget hotels, restaurants, pubs and clubs also line the streets. Cars, cycle rickshaws, two-wheelers and taxis ply these narrow streets alongside hundreds of pedestrians. Recently many roads in Thamel have been declared vehicle free zones to avoid crowd and traffic havoc.

There are many restaurants in Thamel that serve traditional and continental cuisine, although prices are significantly higher than in non-tourist areas. Thamel also acts as the pre-base camp for mountaineers. It boasts a wide range of mountaineering gear shops, foreign money exchange booths, mobile phone shops, along with the numerous travel agents and guest houses. Thamel probably is the best place to enjoy night-life when you are in Kathmandu. Thamel is home to a wide range of the Nepalese population, and serves both entertainment and employment purposes for the locals around the area.

On Wednesday, 28 September 2011, Thamel was declared a full Wi-Fi zone. It is the first Wi-Fi zone of Nepal.

The major religion in Nepal is Hinduism, and the Pashupatinath Temple, the world's largest temple of Shiva, located in Kathmandu, attracts many pilgrims and tourists. Other Hindu pilgrimage sites include the temple complex in Swargadwari in the Pyuthan district; Janaki Mandir in Janakpurdham in Mithila region; Lake Gosainkunda near Dhunche; the temples at Devghat; Manakamana temple in the Gorkha District; Pathibhara near Phungling; and Mahamrityunjaya Shivasan Nepal in Palpa District where the biggest metallic idol of Lord Shiva is located.

Buddhism is the largest minority religion. The World Heritage site at Lumbini, which is traditionally considered to be the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, is an important pilgrimage site. Another prominent Buddhist site is Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, in Kathmandu.

Dang valley is a sacred place for Hindus as well as other religions. Kalika and Malika Devi in Chhillikot hill, Ambekeshawori temple, Krishna temple, Dharapani temple are among the sacred places in Dang district. Chillikot hill is also a good place for sightseeing and also an ancient palace of a king.

According to Nepal's Ministry of Tourism, major tourist activities include wilderness and adventure activities such as mountain biking, bungee jumping, rock climbing and mountain climbing, trekking, hiking,[9] bird watching, flights, paragliding and hot air ballooning over the mountains of Himalaya, exploring the waterways by raft, kayak or canoe and jungle safaris especially in the Terai region. Muktinath is a sacred place for Hindus as well as Buddhists. The site is located in Muktinath Valley, Mustang district.
