Kaw Gon Cave near Hpa an, Myanmar by Adventures in Wanderland
Kaw Gon Cave is in the Hpa an area of Myanmar. Another spectacular cave, what can I say, there are soo many in this area. Most people travel only to Yangon and a few other tourist areas of Myanmar. Hpa an is only a 6 hour bus ride from Yangon and TOTALLY worth the visit!

Best Hidden Gem in Hpa-An // Keinnara Hpa-An
Hpa-An (pronounced Pa Ahn) is Kayin State's scruffy riverside capital and a small city surrounded by lush green rice fields, limestone mountains and a huge amount of caves. Experience the local life, hike, visit interesting limestone caves or explore the rice fields.
We both went Hpa-An several times, mostly for the adventure things but we decide for this time should be relax, chill and having romantic memories together, then our best choice was Keinnara Hpa-An.
It is a place where you all can relax and chill at the mountain side of Zwekabin with full of natural surroundings. Not only this place can release your stresses from exhausted life but also refresh your mind for new days.
The rooms are fully made of wood with stunning mountain landscape surrounded by mountain forest environment. It is a peaceful private hotel with amazing pool and alive with mountain facing views.
Actually, it is beyond what you see. Words failed to describe the beauty and peacefulness of nature and the whole environment. How lucky we were there!
This place is previously known as Hpa-an Lodge, now it called as Keinnara Hpa-an located in Hpa-an just around 5 hours drive from Yangon, Myanmar.

We climbed to see the most amazing view in Hpa-An
This is Myanmar's stairway to heaven, called (Mt. Taung Wine).
Where do you usually go for relaxation? For us, we love to visit to the nature especially where the mountains exit. This time, it is happened to visit to Mount Taung Wine which is located in Hpa-an, just 5 hour drive from Yangon, Myanmar. Hpa-an is such a nice place for weekend getaway and you may also take a day trip from Yangon to Hpa-an.
.
Must things to do in Hpa-an!! If you like hiking, Hpa-an is a great spot which should not be missed especially Mount. Taung Wine, Myanmar’s local stairway to heaven, it is deserved to call this. It is not difficult to get there from Hpa-an’s down town, follow the directions from google map just around 30 minutes drive. And you can park your motorcycle/ scooter/ car at the base of the mountain near the bridge.
.
No need hurry, just take step by step to reach to the perk, it is easy hiking but it is better when you wear hiking shoes. After hiking around 1 hour, the stunning, insane and breath-taking view us waiting at the top of the mountain. It is worth it not only for the amazing insta-spot but also for happy adventure and relaxation.
.
Foggy?? Sunny?? Cloudy?? Rainny? It’s up to your wish. One thing we can guarantee is the view from the peak is so amazing. Just imagine how it might be so cool especially at sunrise!

Southern Myanmar has kept a lot of its old charm.
Southern Myanmar
Because few foreign tourists are visiting Southern Myanmar, the advantage is of course that it has kept a lot of its old charm. So many popular tourist destinations elsewhere are 'damaged' by the tourist boom and have lost all of their natural charm and relaxed atmosphere.
From Yagon it has been a comfortable train journey to Mawlamyine. The landscape and the people on the stations were fascinating. There is such a natural and relaxed atmosphere everywhere. Strolling to the streets of Mawlamyine, visiting some of the beautiful pagodas, watching the people, seeing the lively markets, has been a beautiful experience.
Around Mawlamyine, also on the road to Hpa-An, are magnificent Karst (limestone) mountains with many caves and Buddha statues. I love this kind of landscape and have visited several limestone rock formations all over Asia. It is really a magical landscape. It feels timeless and connected to something much greater then our small self. People through all ages has felt this and expressed it with many Buddha statues, which you can see everywhere. They were also building the greatest reclining Buddha statue in the world.
More on:
I love to see that in 2011 Buddhism is so alive in Myanmar. The Burmese people have a great resilience and devotion and it looks Buddhism has only grown after the brutal suppression and killing of the monks in 2007. Now in 2011 it looks that slowly some form of democracy is coming to Myanmar. In their hearts the Burmese people will always be free and that give them their kindness, strength and resilience.

“Let’s Protect Salween” International Day of Action for Rivers 2019
“Let’s Protect Salween” is the campaign of the International Day of Action for Rivers on March 14, 2019, at Eu Wae Tha Internally Displaced Persons Camp, Karen State, Myanmar. Karen people from both sides of the Salween River - Myanmar and Thailand, gathered to show the intention to protect the environment and keep the Salween River flowing freely. Currently, the Salween River is the only river in Southeast Asia that still runs free. However, seven hydropower dam projects are planned on the Salween River. Local people are concerned that their life will be changed forever if these dams are built.
