Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It's known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees. To the northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges. In the surrounding hills, the Noh-Kalikai, Dain-Thlen and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops. Thangkharang Park || Northeast India || SOHRA || Cherrapunjee
Located at a distance of just 12 km from the main city, Thangkharang Park is one of the main attractions of Cherrapunji.
Lying next to the Khoh Ramhah rock, this park offers a nice view of Bangladesh. The sight of meandering roads looks amazing. You can also treat your eyes to the lovely views of the Kynrem falls that gush down in 3 levels.
The park also has 2 foot bridges offering wonderful views of the expansive lush valleys and the plains.
Another popular attraction that lies in Thangkharang Park is the Khoh Ramrah rock,( ) which is popularly known as the Shiva Rock. Placed right opposite the entry gate of the park, this huge rock is in the shape of a lingam. A visit to the park during monsoons is even more exciting as you can walk on a small crossover bridge from where you can enjoy a nice view of the water stream cascading below. The park is maintained by the State Forest Department Control.

Driving towards Thangkharang Park, Meghalaya
Thangkharang Park, situated at a distance of 12 km from Cherrapunji is a must see spot. It is located just besides the Khoh Ramhah rock and offers a 180 degree view of the Bangladesh plains below. This view point also presents a nice view of the Kynrem Falls, which cascades in three levels at a distance,
This park has two nice view points strategically built on two of the three rocks that imparts a good view of Khoh Ramhah or the pillar rocks and the valley below. A small bridge helps one cross over to the other section of the park in times of heavy rains or the monsoons, when the stream below overflows with water.

Video description:
In this video we show you the spectacular waterfalls & living root bridges that Cherrapunji is so famous for. Cherrapunji, located in Meghalaya state, North-East India, is easily a contender for the most inspiring and incredible places we've visited in Asia so far.
Cherrapunji is the second wettest place on Earth. All this rain does have its perks though because without it, you wouldn't see the incredible waterfalls that Cherrapunji is famous for. In this video we show you the waterfalls cascading down from the Eco Tourism Park, the Nohsngithiang Falls (Seven Sisters Falls), Nohkhalikai Falls (340m, tallest plunge waterfall in India) and Rainbow Falls (incredibly beautiful remote jungle waterfall). Many of these waterfalls (except for Rainbow falls) are view-able from viewpoints near the town of Sohra (Cherrapunji town).
Cherrapunji is also known for the unique and fascinating living root bridges. These all natural bridges are hand-made by the tribal Khasi & Jaintia people, from the aerial roots of the rubber fig tree (ficus elastica). The aerial roots are interwoven across rivers to form incredibly strong and durable bridges, allowing the people to traverse the river even during heavy floods.
To see the living root bridges, we trek from the small village of Tyrna to the remote tribal village of Nongriat. In Nongriat you can find a homestay and stay there a few nights to experience the famous double decker living root bridge, which is found in the village itself.
You can also make daily treks into the surrounding wilderness, using Nongriat as a base, to see more amazing living root bridges and the incredibly beautiful rainbow waterfall.
