Indian shop selling different materials of silk in Majnu-ka-tilla

These materials are usually used to make a Tibetan traditional dress (chupa). They have different varieties and ranges of silk.this shop is located in Majnu ka tilla delhi.
The traditional chupa is typically made of sheepskin,but over time, Tibetans began adding layers of silk as indicators of wealth and power. This exquisite ensemble consists of a cotton sateen inner robe lined with sheepskin and otter fur, a silk blue and silver Chinese brocade jacket with European-style patterning, and a short inner jacket made of red silk brocade also with otter fur. She also wears a cotton and felt hat with lambskin, and an elaborate headdress made of padded wool with silk, velvet and silk fringe, silver coins and discs, coral, glass, paste and amber.

ourThe Norbulingka Institute was founded in 1988 by the present 14th Dalai Lama at Sidhpur, near Dharamsala, India. The institute is dedicated t 27-4-2011o the preservation of the Tibetan language and cultural heritage. Overview
Founded by the Department of Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), the institute contains the Centre for Arts, the Academy of Tibetan Culture, the Literary and Cultural Research Centre and the library and publications department. The Norbulingka Foundation was established in 1995 for the preservation of ancient art practices of Tibet, especially crafts.The institute also runs two Tibetan retreats, one Norling inside the institutes premises and other Chonor House, at McLeod Ganj, near the Dalai Lama's temple.
The Centre for Arts, offers training in tibetan statue making, thangka painting, printing, applique and tailoring, wood carving, wood and metal craft . The Academy of Tibetan Culture, established in 1997, offers a six year course of higher education in traditional Tibetan studies .
The institute also has the two-storeyed 'Seat of Happiness Temple' (Deden Tsuglakhang) built in 1985 and set amidst the Japanese inspired Norbulingka gardens. It is known for its 1,173 murals of Buddha, frescoes of all the Dalai Lamas and drawings chronicling the life of the 14th Dalai Lama. In the main hall stands the 4 mt high gilded copper Budddha Sakyamuni statue, made by institute's master statue-maker, Pemba Dorje, and one of largest such statues outside Tibet. Around the temple are workshops of artisans and apprentices, which produce various handicrafts, also sold at the Norbulingka Gift Shop and Showroom, for the benefit of Tibetan refugees.
The Losel Doll Museum has diorama displays of traditional Tibetan scenes, using miniature Tibetan dolls in traditional costumes.
A short distance from the institute lies the Dolma Ling Buddhist nunner,and the Gyato Monastery, temporary residence of the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje.

Dharamshala, Feb 28 (ANI): The Tibetans in-exile in Dharamshala celebrated the Tibetan New Year, Losar, with much enthusiasm. Losar is usually celebrated for three days with the first day celebrations beginning in the morning with special prayers in the main Buddhist temple. Tibetan Lamas and Tibetan artists performed special dances made for such special occasions. With this, they welcomed Rooster year today and bid good bye to the Monkey year.

Doma's Inn is a one of its kind guest house on top of Mullingar Hill in Landour, Mussoorie (north India), known for its famous interior and food. The name Landour is drawn from Llanddowror, a village in Carmarthenshire in southwest Wales. During the Raj, it was common to give nostalgic English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish names to one's home (or even to British-founded towns), reflecting one's ethnicity. Names drawn from literary works were also common, as from those by Robert Burns, Walter Scott, Thomas Hardy, Robert Louis Stevenson and many others.
