Thaxted, I Vow To Thee... - Trailer
This film is based on Gustav Holst’s Hymn ‘I vow to thee my Country’ which he wrote while living in Thaxted, and he called the tune to the hymn ‘Thaxted. The tune uses a melody taken from Jupiter (from the Planet Suite), which was also written during Holst's time in Thaxted.
The film features local musicians playing and a public singing as well as a choir singing backed by the City of Prague Symphony Orchestra.
The film was directed by Stuart McDonald and the music was arranged by Paul Hart.

St Mary's Church and Thaxted
A pictorial tour of St. Mary's Church in Greenville, South Carolina, USA, Fr. Jay Scott Newman, pastor. The full choir and congregation sings the hymn, THAXTED with words written by Fr. Christopher Phillips. Robert Lee, organist. Arlen Clarke, Choirmaster.
The Text:
1. To thee, O gracious Father, we lift our loving hearts; to us the bread of heaven eternal life imparts. We thank thee for thy favor that marks us as thine own. Lord, keep us ever faithful who kneel before thy throne. What love hast thou bestowed on us, a love which makes us free. It cleanses us from every sin and keeps us close to thee.
2. To thee, O Christ our Savior, we come for saving grace; we see how tender love is by looking on thy face. Keep us from all things hurtful by the power of thy cross. And help us to remember our gain comes from thy loss. What heavenly food is ours, Lord, this food which makes us free. It fills our hearts and makes us whole, and keeps us close to thee.
3. To thee, O Holy Spirit, we whisper our desire; our lives are empty vessels, Lord, fill them with thy fire. Make us thy faithful people who seek to do thy will. Give us thy gifts of power our empty hearts to fill. What peace that passes every thought, that peace which makes us free. It banishes each doubt and fear, and keeps us close to thee.
4. From thee, O Triune Godhead, salvation is come down; atonement now is given, mankind receives his crown, in sacrament tremendous we touch eternity. We love thee, God our Savior, Thou art our destiny. O Father, Son and Holy Ghost, our faith shall never cease! In thee we have eternal life, and never-ending peace.

The patriotic anthem I Vow to Thee My Country bringing the Ceremonial Funeral of the late Margaret Hilda, Baroness Thatcher, LG OM PC FRS (née Roberts, 13 October 1925 -- 8 April 2013) to a close. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990, she was the longest-serving British Prime Minister of the 20th century and is the first woman to have held the office. A Soviet journalist called her the Iron Lady, a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism.
In death as in life she divided opinion sharply, but love or loathe her, it was impossible to ignore or avoid her. :And her send off will go down in history as an event associated with the highest levels of pageantry that the British establishment could muster.
It is thought we will not soon see her like again.

O God Beyond All Praising Thaxted Song At Princess Diana's 1997 Funeral
Lyrics:
O God beyond all praising,
we worship you today
and sing the love amazing
that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder
at every gift you send,
at blessings without number
and mercies without end:
we lift our hearts before you
and wait upon your word,
we honor and adore you,
our great and mighty Lord.
Then hear, O gracious Savior,
accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favor
may serve you as our king;
and whether our tomorrows
be filled with good or ill,
we'II triumph through our sorrows
and rise to bless you still:
to marvel at your beauty
and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty
our sacrifice of praise.
Road drive through Thaxted in Essex in Winter
The quaint little drive through one of the most beautiful towns in my area. This town is called Thaxted set in lush rolling hillsides, deriving from 'theotic' with 'stede', being a place where thatching materials are got. The music featured in this video was composed by Gustav Holst who used to live here, right next to the wonderful Tudor Town Hall in the centre, with Dick Turpin's residence on the other side. Gustav's choral pieces were works of art, Thaxted annual music festival pays homage to Holst by featuring classical music from around the world held in the Parish Church. A very well photographed building in Essex. The song is somewhat apt, but not so bleak. I love my journey to work every morning. This particular morning it was -5. My favourite. Everything was still... And marred by a school bus.
