Track Laying for Major Section of China-Myanmar, Yunnan-Tibet Railways Finished
The track-laying work for the Guangtong-Dali Railway, a major section on the China-Myanmar railway and Yunnan-Tibet railway, was finished on Monday, with the connecting of two tracks in a tunnel in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The railway links Guangtong Town in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture with the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, both of Yunnan.
The two tracks were connected at 08:18 in the Xianghe Tunnel on the border of Dali and Xiangyun County.
The Guangtong-Dali railway stretching 175 kilometers has a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour. It passes through 80 bridges and 44 tunnels.
The railway is expected to be put into use in about three months and it will cut the traveling time from Kunming to Dali from five hours to 2.5 hours.
The construction of the Guangtong-Dali Railway started at end of 2012 and it serves as an important part on the China-Myanmar International Railway and the Yunnan-Tibet Railway.
The China-Myanmar Railway linking China's Kunming and Myanmar's Yangon covers a total length of 1,920 kilometers, among which, a 690-km-long section is in the territory of China.

Hebei (河北; alternately Hopeh) is a province of China in the North China region. The modern province was established in 1911 as Chihli Province (Zhili Province). Its capital and largest city is Shijiazhuang. Its one-character abbreviation is 冀 (Jì), named after Ji Province, a Han dynasty province (zhou) that included what is now southern Hebei. Beijing and Tianjin Municipalities, which border each other, were carved out of Hebei. The province borders Liaoning to the northeast, Inner Mongolia to the north, Shanxi to the west, Henan to the south, and Shandong to the southeast. Bohai Bay of the Bohai Sea is to the east. A small part of Hebei, Sanhe Exclave, consisting of Sanhe, Dachang Hui Autonomous County, and Xianghe County, an exclave disjointed from the rest of the province, is wedged between the municipalities of Beijing and Tianjin.
With a population of over 74 million people, Hebei is China's sixth most populous province. The Han majority comprise 96% of the population, followed by a minority of Manchu, Hui and Mongol peoples.
