John & Patrick Kenny performing in the beautiful Ystad Abbey, Sweden, as part of the European Music Archaeology Project (EMAP) featuring the first ever duo performance on two reconstructed Tintignac Carnyces. Discovered in 2004 in southern France, these two great boar-headed horns are masterpieces Iron Age Celtic art. The Scottish charitable company Carnyx & Co has access to one of the largest collections of functioning ancient lip-reed instruments in the world.
The first half of this concert includes compositions by John Kenny and Italian sound artist and composer Alberto Morelli, and improvisations by father and son duo Patrick and John Kenny. The 2nd half includes early Scandinavian music performed by Ensemble Mare Balticum, and instruments from ancient Roman and Etruscan cultures. There are also interviews with the performers and members of the public.
