We finished our wonderful trip to Alaska by visiting Pioneer Park and having dinner at the Salmon Bake. The setting is great and the food very good. Salmon cooked on an open grill, prime rib, king crab, and cod were all you could eat. The salad bar was fine and soda and ice tea were included. The staff was very efficient and friendly. A little hint, take the Blue Bus line there and if you are 60 or over, it is free to ride.

Alaska Tour - Fairbanks, AK - Stop #11
Today we drove from Tok, Ak to Faribanks, AK with a short stop Rika's Roadhouse for lunch. We also got a tour of the Cabin Museums and our first peek at the Alaskan Pipeline!
On our drive, we saw a Moose splashing around in a pond, and Jeannie got a few pictures out the window as we were driving by! We then stopped at North Pole, AK and visited the Christmas Shop and sat on Santa's lap!
The next day we got a Fairbanks City Tour with a stop at an excellent Alaskan Pipeline viewing area where you could actually touch the pipe! It is HUGE, over 48 in diameter with an insulated metal jacket. After that we went aboard the Discover III for a river cruise to the Chena Village with many Indian huts and cabins. Here we learned about a Fish Wheel that floats on the river and spins using the current and automatically catches Salmon as they swim upstream -- very cool!
That night we went to an Alaskan Salmon Bake with some of the best Salmon you could ever eat! The following day we visited a couple of Museums, including the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum. This car museum was unbelievable, and had many one-of-a-kind cars from the turn of the century! This is a must see in Fairbanks!!
