Where to start??
If somone had said to me when i was younger and sitting in one of the grandstands as a spectator at Hickstead (like i have done on many occasions), that I would make it there to compete one day... but it would be on a midget of a failed polo pony, I probably would have laughed at them. However, this little girl has given me so much over the last few years and helped me to achieve some ambitions in my life. Yup, she's no 17hh imported warmblood with lists of impressive bloodlines and hadn't even seen a show jump until she was 10yrs old (back in 2008), but she has the biggest heart and really tries for me. Nigs is one in a million and i'm so proud of her, she's absolutely priceless to me.
Ok, so we have no results from this week, but she really jumped the best i have ever felt her, so pingy and bold and at times when i had left my brain at home, helped me out of trouble. We had some unlucky poles, then i completely let her down on the second day and sat there like a lemon, but she kept trying and we just had a couple of poles. The third day was fantastic and she was on top form! I normally leave warts and all in my videos, but i caused an annoying stop when i lost my focus in the jump off and it bugs me so much as she was going so, so well, that i've cut it out!! (I may bung the raw clip of that round on aswell though!). She didn't touch a pole and if i hadn't of fluffed things up again, we probably would have got a result as there was so few clears (out of class of 206 entries!)... there was only 11 clears on the first day and not many more on day 2 and 3!!
So all in all, we had a brilliant time of things, it was a fantastic show, the weather held out perfectly and I am too over the moon with the flying midge... I hink she hd a ball too!
Huge thanks has to go to Enigma and I's sponsors Surface Direct. I would not have been able to get to hickstead without them and their faith in us and interest in Enigma's progress means the world to me, especially as she isn't your average show jumping horse to be backed by a sponsor! I can't thank them enough.
Anyhoo... before this starts to sound like I've won an oscar, I will sign out, but thanks so much to all my subscribers old and new and for all the lovely comments lately. I appreciate every one.
Jo and Enigma.

The British Jumping Derby meeting - known as the Al Shira'aa Hickstead Derby Meeting - is an annual showjumping event held since 1961 at the All England Jumping Course at Hickstead in June every year. It is considered one of the premier events in the equestrian calendar.A highlight of the meeting is the Al Shira'aa Derby, a 1,195-metre course with tricky jumps including the aptly named Devil's Dyke – three fences in short succession with a water-filled ditch in the middle and the difficult Derby Bank, a jump with 3 ft 5in rails on top and a 10 ft 6in slope down the front.
