kraftwerk rewerk | The British Paraorchestra and Friends
Sat 24 Nov, 7.45pm
The Anvil
Charles Hazlewood conducts
Army of Generals and The British Paraorchestra
kraftwerk-re:werk is a ground breaking musical experience, taking Kraftwerk’s album Trans Europe Express as the starting point for a thrilling symphonic trip.
Created by composers Charlotte Harding and Lloyd Coleman, kraftwerk re:werk is an intoxicating mix of symphonic and electronic instruments, with ear-bending sounds sitting directly next to 70s beats, and sound on-stage amplified and filtered live, turning the orchestra into a giant synthesizer.
The 39-piece ensemble contains a bank of Moogs, drum machines and live percussion, assistive technology, alongside bass oboes, an electro harp and a suite of orchestral strings and brass.
The evening is kicked off with some seriously wild scores from Ligeti and Messiaen, to ensure that you are fully immersed and ready to hear the new work with fresh ears.
Commissioned by The Paraorchestra and Friends and Simple Things
Produced by The Paraorchestra and Friends, in association with Sound UK

The Hollies: The Anvil / Sun 25 Oct
The Hollies are one of Britain’s best-loved bands. Their soaring, distinctive harmonies, brilliantly crafted songs, coupled with their extensive back catalogue of memorable hits, has ensured their longevity.
Since the early 1960ss British rock revolution, a time when British music began to shake the world, the band have produced some huge hits, including The Air That I Breathe, Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress), Bus Stop, the soul-stirring He Ain’t Heavy, and many more.
Having never disbanded, they have toured Britain and the world every single year since 1963, seeing them inducted into the American Rock ‘n‘ Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 for their Impact on the Evolution, Development and Perpetuation of Rock and Roll, and hold the coveted Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music.
