Rare Craft Roadshow - Full Doc - The Balvenie
Two of Balvenie's US ambassadors, Andrew Weir and Nicholas Pallocchi, made an epic road trip across the United States in a handmade Morgan, visiting craftsmen who still use traditional artisanal methods.
The Balvenie’s longstanding alliance with craft is a result of the distillery’s dedication to the five rare crafts of whisky making, which allow them to achieve their distinctive taste and exceptional quality. The Balvenie still grows its own barley, still malts in its own floor maltings, employs a team of coopers to tend its casks, a coppersmith to maintain its stills, and has in its service the most experienced Malt Master in Scotland.
Warehouse 24 offers its members access to exclusive events, early notice of new product releases and insight & knowledge from The Balvenie’s team of craftsmen. Join here:

Scotland Distillery Tours | The Girl with Beer
We started the day with a visit to Speyside Cooperage then headed to the Glenlivet Distillery and ended our whisky tour at Glenfiddich Distillery. After all that whisky tasting I needed to try some local beer so we ended the night at Fierce back in Aberdeen.

From Spain to Kentucky | Dareringer: Straight Bourbon Finished in PX Sherry Casks
3 Families. 2 Continents. 1 Spirit.
From Spain to Kentucky, this is Dareringer: Straight Bourbon Finished in PX Sherry Casks.
The culmination of a four-year journey that starts with a family in Montilla, Spain. That’s where Rabbit Hole’s sherry casks are made and where the story of our finished bourbon starts to take shape.
This story is about three families -- two from Spain and another from Louisville -- all with one thing in common: a love for their work and the desire to make beautiful spirits. Together, the fruits of their labor give birth to the drink people across the country have come to enjoy.

A celebration of The Balvenie’s Malt Master David Stewart MBE
On the 5th of July our very own David Stewart will be awarded his MBE medal by a member of the royal family for his services to the whisky industry, making him a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
Ahead of the celebrations take a moment to look into our Malt Master’s life of crafting whisky at The Balvenie and some celebratory words from a few of his friends.
Urquhart Castle to Balvenie Castle, Dufftown - The Scottish Adventure - Episode Nine
In this episode we travel from Loch Ness to Balvenie Castle in Dufftown.
Originally known as Mortlach, Balvenie Castle was built in the 12th century by a branch of the powerful Comyn family (the Black Comyns) and extended and altered in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Balvenie Castle served as a garrison during the Jacobite rebellion. It was abandoned in 1720s but was briefly garrisoned by Government troops in 1746.
The tower in Dufftown was previously a prison but now serves as a tourist information centre and clock tower.
As well as Balvenie castle, Dufftown is also the home of the Glenfiddich distillery and produces more whisky than any other town in Scotland.
The Retro Lab's Scottish Adventure is a two thousand mile road trip around Scotland in which we continued our mission to find Britain's (and maybe even the world's) best driving roads, also visiting many castles and other points-of-interest along the way, but it didn't go quite how we had planned....

Old Photographs Dufftown Moray Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Dufftown in Moray, The old Kirkton of Mortlach, with its historic church, is on the southern outskirts of the present town. In the 19th century, James Duff, 4th Earl Fife, established Dufftown as housing for soldiers returning home from the Napoleonic War.. Dufftown's notable buildings include Balvenie Castle, which was partly built with stones from the ruins of nearby Auchindoun Castle. The street plan of Dufftown is mainly four main roads meeting at the clock tower; previously a prison but now a tourist information centre. Dufftown is located on the River Fiddich and is the location of several Scotch whisky distilleries. It produces more malt whisky than any other town in Scotland. George Stephen, 1st Baron Mount Stephen, was born in Dufftown on 5 June 1829. He was the son of William Stephen, a carpenter, and Elspet, daughter of John Smith, a crofter at Knockando, Moray. He wwas known as Sir George Stephen, Baronet, between 1886 and 1891, was a prominent Canadian businessman. He made his fame in Montreal and was the first Canadian to be elevated to the Peerage of the United Kingdom. He was the financial genius behind the creation of the Canadian Pacific Railway.. He died on 29 November 1921. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.

The Franklin Room Whiskey of the Week: Balvenie
Balvenie is the second distillery built by William Grant (1892) and is home to Malt Master David Stewart. David Stewart was the first to introduce whisky ‘finishing’, the process of taking already matured whisky and placing them in barrels that held different types of spirit to add another layer of complexity.
