Colchester Town Watch Feast 2013 - The Barley Mow
A short ditty from the rabble. The Colchester Town Watch is the civic bodyguard for the Mayor of Colchester and undertakes various duties in support of this most ancient of towns. Each year it gathers together for a winter feast, with invited guests with whom the Watch is associated. We were delighted to have the Mayor and Mayoress, Councillors Colin and Laura Sykes in attendance this year, as well as our deputy mayor and mayoress and several other previous mayors. Also, we were honoured by the presence of civic dignitaries from Tewkesbury, with whom we have visited in past years. Also Major David Casey, Dr John Ashdown-Hill and many others. It being St Andrews Day, there were kilts to be seen as well, all adding to the fun. A fine feast was enjoyed, some excellent drinking, some oratory, poetry and what passed for song.
