Bridgeport, Connecticut: Downtown Driving Tour (August, 2019)
A late Saturday afternoon driving tour of downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut in August, 2019. The police presence seen in the video is simply to close streets for a festival (Caribbean Jerk Fest) and not for any mass crime investigation!
Bridgeport was incorporated as a town in 1821 and as a city in 1836. The current population is around 145,000, making in the most populous city in the state and the fifth most populous in New England. The metro population is 940,000.
Bridgeport is located in Fairfield, County where the Pequonnock River empties into Long Island Sound. The city is just 60 miles from Manhattan.
The first Subway restaurant opened here in 1965. This is also the historic home of famous circus man P.T. Barnum. Starting on the right at 4:12 in the video, we get a really good look at the Barnum Museum.
The Barnum Museum building was completed in 1893 and was placed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The museum houses an extension archive collection of P.T. Barnum and the history of the city.
The video ends at the Webster Bank Arena. This venue opened in 2001 and houses the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders). This arena seats 8,412 for hockey.

With three floors of fascinating exhibits that illustrate the extraordinary business and personal accomplishments of P.T. Barnum, the museum is an outstanding educational resource for students of all ages. As part of a multi-million dollar restoration project with the CT Trust for Historic Preservation, on September 25, 2008, Hampton Hotels Save-A-Landmark program refurbished The Barnum Museum in Bridgeport, Conn. Volunteers from local Hampton hotel properties, community leaders and museum staff donated their time to refurbish the museum that pays tribute to one of the most recognizable names in entertainment history, P.T. Barnum. Volunteers worked floor to ceiling, painting the interior and exterior structures to preserve intricate stain glass windows and help restore an original tin ceiling and wooden doors. Additionally, Hampton Hotels contributed $40,000 towards the refurbishment of this historical treasure for its continued care.

Transfer of 16MM films of Bridgeport CT.
This is me describing the 16MM films I have of both the Barnum festival from 1955 and construction projects of Edwin Moss and Sons. The last time I was posted the videos back in 2009 I was inundated with comments from white separatists from the towns surrounding Bridgeport about how they destroyed Bridgeport. I don't have time for history lessons but perhaps if you feel that way you can do a little history research about manufacturing and industry statistics as well as population migration as it refers to manufacturing jobs and race. The other people I got crap from were the music publishing companies who were threatening me because I used some damn circus music from their obscure label. I then approached people at the Barnum Festival and the Barnum museum saying, Hey! I have these great historic films I'd love to share with you! I heard NOTHING back from any of them so I ripped these videos down. I am posting them again in hopes that SOMEONE will find value in them as I do. -Chris

Tornados rip through Bridgeport, CT June 25, 2010
Originally reported as powerful thunderstorms the news did later report them correctly as tornados. They have been classified as F1 tornados. They are now saying one, but surveying the area there was more than one. They were spread over a wide area with multiple paths spread over a 5 mile wide from side to side reaching from Bridgeport into Stratford. Stratford did receive some damage.
