A visit to the Bellarine Railway - Rail Spectacular 2019
In this video we visit the Bellarine Railway located on the Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong. Running between the towns of Queenscliff and Drysdale the railway is unique for being the only 1067mm gauge railway in Victoria, and hosts rollingstock from interstate including Tasmania and Queensland, as well as rollingstock from the former Fyansford Cement Works Railway.
On this particular day the railway was operating a special charter train, organised by travel company Cruise Express as part of their Rail Spectacular 2019 tour. Earlier in the day passengers traveled to Geelong from Melbourne with steam locomotive A2 986, where they were then bused to the railway.
In this video we see the charter trip in action, departing Drysdale and capturing it along the way to Queenscliff. After a brief photo and lunch stop at Queenscliff we then see the train return to Drysdale. The train was hauled by two Tasmanian Government Railway X Class locomotives; X3 & X20. Entering service from 1950 to 1952 they were the first mainline diesel to enter service in Australia.
Check out the trip to Geelong with A2 986 here:
This video was filmed in conjunction with Comeng998. Cheers for letting me tag along.

Bellarine Railway Queenscliff
I returned from Melbourne yesterday after a couple of days following some of the heritage rail operations.
Victorians are so fortunate to have a train running somewhere every day they feel the need for little nostalgia.
The setting of Queenscliff is fantastic as is their historic railway.
