Rawai Phuket - Thailand, Candy Bar, New Year, Songkran, subtitles for any languages
Thai New Year Day of April 13, 2012.
The Songkran water festival of the Buddhist New Year, lasts three days and also during a week's holiday for Thai.
This festival has killed 320 people and injured 3,320 people.
The video tells the Songkran which was conducted south of the island of Phuket, Rawai. The Songkran lasts between 1 and 3 days depending on the region. Rawai, it only lasts a day. This is the day not to miss if you take your leave in mid-April.
Arrived in Rawai, I stop at a bar. The bar girls are usually requisitioned from 9:00 am to 8:00 p.m. this evening for Songkran. But the population is not left out and everyone does not try to make money on this occasion.
This is a very entertaining time to be lived. But it is not safe to drive too fast on a motorcycle that day.
The quality of my video is questionable because it is a camera waterproof (submersible) low quality ... but in a day as this, an ordinary camcorder would make the soul.
The comments of the video:
Thai New Year Day of April 13, 2012. The Songkran water festival of the Buddhist New Year, lasts three days and is also an opportunity for one week holiday for the Thai. This festival has killed 320 people and injured 3320 persons.
I take the main road from Chalong to Rawai.
It's very hard to film while driving the scooter with one hand, also the noise and tremors are bothersome, but I want to store this memory!
Many vehicles called pickup carrying groups of young people, were arranged for the Songkran Thai New Year.
I'm about to cut the video to shoot below.
The pickups, loaded with water containers and young people, marched through the streets as the crowd is armed with buckets of water.
I was so watered this time I am obliged to stop me. I also risk the accident.
I go in search of the culprit...
- Hmm, these fellows are well armed. I'd better clear out.
Arrival in Rawaï, I stop at a bar. The girls of the bar are requisitioned from 9:00 am to 8:00 p.m. this evening for Songkran.
I see, not a ladyboy, but a gay which belongs to the bar. It feeds the water bowl or water
the bystanders with his jet. He's cute, right?
I address one of the girls from the bar. I told him that I had trouble coming. And since I
can not close the trunk of my bike, to keep certain things dry, this girl will help me.
While she attempts to close the valve seat of the bike, I shoot one of the prettiest girls in
the bar. I do not do it for me but for you ...
My shots are awful, I admit. Sorry for your seasickness. Moreover, the sea is just opposite!
The bikes are so much water that they sometimes fall!
This driver will fare with a few scratches and fears.
It is the height of the scandal, an enemy comes to source water from us!
Ok! But it will be watered before!
Hmm, I will be seen peeking. I'm not very photogenic and smeared. Sorry ladies!
For now it's pretty quiet, but as and when I film, westerners will point the tip of their nose.
I will make a cut of the video and return in 2 minutes, until people arrive.
Thin! In 2 minutes, no newcomers ...
Children are likely to participate from the beginning.
This pharang is very active! Well I cut again and come back in 30 minutes to see.
The nose of my digital camera has slightly took water and a little of this white powder that some people throw at us. The image is slightly blurred.
It's seems that a ladyboy was there !
I have not seen him...
A group of three Russian girls arrived.
I feel that the bar will fill up now.
The girls are there, soaking wet... :-)
Farang men arrived as reinforcements to save the girls. Normal!
What is the pick-up who want to conquer our land? Everyone in the attack.
The enemy is afraid of nothing and he enters the bar.
Can we get tired of watching girls soaked in this way ?
I think the enemy has decided to come to the rescue of Russian girls. It was perhaps allies ?
I do not know if it's because I film, but the whole street has decided to meet in front of this bar.
The tankers of water are many to go in the streets!
As I predicted, with the arrival of Russian women, many men with muscular arms
appeared to show their power.
The water guns are plentiful and can hurl water at 15 meters. In general, weapons are directed toward the eyes and it hurts sometimes!
Farangs (westerners) have arrived in a massive way. Many new girls too.
Everyone is soaked from head to toe, but it is not cold at all. The water is very warm in
the bar, which is not the case for pickup.
At the rear, the bar distributes payable drinks and even offers small meals (the farang does not go away elsewhere). Because it is a feast for some profit!
Children in the party, whatever their ages.
Attacks are increasing around 13:00 local time. The war in all its horror ...
Everyone goes wild.
The enemy is really verywhere.
The shooting and splashing water proving to be inaccurate, there are many losses in each row.
I loved to pick on the Russian girl who comes.
A very playful girl. It was a good laugh together.
Groove Doctors play So Many Roads at Friendship Beach July 4th 2012
Groove Doctors get back together for one performance last night at Friendship Beach in Rawai for the 4th of July party. Played one set with the old crew. Sorry for the audio quality, the camera was right in front of the speakers and Tony's voice is a bit distorted.
If we play again, we'll get a better recording next time.

Phuket People's Tribute to the King of Thailand
On the occasion of the diamond jubilee, this video shows how the people in Phuket pay tribute and revere HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej. From Andaman News.
For our generation, many do not know that His Majesty the King paid a visit to Phuket island in 1959. The royal visit brought upmost happiness to his subjects in Phuket. Our special Report today traces back the happy and proud memories of people who met the king or presented some things to him. Let's go back together:
March 8th -- 12th 1959 were big days for the islanders of Phuket due to the Royal visit of their Majesties the King and Queen. March the 9th seems even the most significant day for a then young girl Pranee Manosunthorn, aged 12 years old who was one of very few students chosen to sing a short poem in front of the King and Queen.
Today, 47 years later, she is Assistant Professor Pranee Sakulpipat who still remembers all the remarkable detail of the proud moment. She showed off commemorative coins given by His Majesty the King after her performance.
On the auspicious occasion of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne, the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization has been gathering old photos and data about the Royal visit by putting up an exhibition at Central Festival for the general public and tourists to view and learn about the King in Phuket.
Many old photos were put on display and the public are invited to sign their wishes. Ajaan Pranee expressed the fondness and endeavors of Phuket people for the King.
Among impressive photos are those showing the King receiving drinks from local villagers in Patong, plus his visit to Rawai and Surin beach.
Ajaan Pranee went on to give examples of one of the king's attention to natural resources and educate others in direct and indirect ways by pointing out photos where he released lobsters back to sea even though by that time the natural resources were so fertile.
This visit was part of the Royal visit to the Andaman coastal provinces from Ranong down to Phang-Nga and Phuket by car. This enabled their Majesties to observe the fertility and richness in natural resources along the coast. His Majesty King Bhumipol then remarked that Phuket is rich with natural resources, both tin and rubber and urged locals to learn and apply new technology or innovation to upgrade their profession and career. His Majesty the King has given great moral support for the residents of Phuket Island until today.
