Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada
Sydney is a Canadian community in Nova Scotia. Situated on Cape Breton Island's east coast. Sydney was founded in 1785 and named in honour of Thomas Townsend, 1st Viscount Sydney, Britain's Home Secretary at the time, a few years later, Sydney, Australia would also be named after him.
Sydney has recently witnessed a tourism revival with cruise ship facilities and a waterfront revitalization plan which has seen a boardwalk and marinas constructed, and the world's largest fiddle.
Sydney's tourism draw is increasingly linked to its cultural asset as being the urban heart of Cape Breton Island. Its population is a diverse mixture of nationalities which contributes to various Scottish, Acadian, African Canadian and eastern European cultural events being held throughout the year.

The Big Ceilidh (Ceili) Fiddle in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
Here's Gary Talkiewicz at the big Ceilidh fiddle in Sydney Nova Scotia on 8/31/11 while on vacation in wonderful Cape Breton.
Little fiddle is a 1900 Emil Mattson made in Strongs Michigan (Upper peninsula). Anyone recognize the tune? It's a Cotillion by George Graham. The little fiddle has a very sweet sound, This undoubtedly comes from its wood, being from trees that were tempered by Lake Superior's harsh winds and brutal winter storms.

What To Do In SYDNEY, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA l CRUISE VLOG l Ep. 18
Time for us to get off the Norwegian Gem in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and get on our bus for our shore excursion! I booked this tour through Norwegian Cruise Line though this tour is offered through most cruise lines! The tour is called, HEART OF THE ISLAND and here is the tour description from NCL's website:
“Ciad Mile Failte” - a hundred thousand welcomes await you! Nova Scotia is Latin for New Scotland and nowhere is this more evident than on Cape Breton Island. This picturesque excursion takes you to the very heart of the island. You’ll see some of the Island's most dynamic scenery, weaving a route through rugged countryside, touching the shores of the famous Bras d'Or Lakes. Known as the Great Inland Sea, as the lakes are salt water, this region is a major breeding ground for bald eagles and other wildlife.
As your tour progresses, you'll stop at the center of Cape Breton Island, Hectors' Point, Iona and visit the Nova Scotia Highland Village, a 50 acre historical site overlooking the Bras d'Or Lakes. Take a journey through 180 years of Cape Breton’s Scottish architecture, hosted by costumed staff, trained in conversational Gaelic and local history. Here, you’ll view a full size replica of a Scottish Blackhouse, a one room structure occupied by the first Scottish settlers in the region and the only one of its kind in North America. A hilltop panoramic view offers a beautiful blend of land, sky and water. Enjoy tea or coffee and oatcakes before returning to your ship.”
As always, make sure to watch in HD for the best video quality! Hope you enjoy! :)

Field of Heroes - Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada
The Field of Heroes is located on the Cenotaph site on Main Street, Sydney Mines.
This is where the Remembrance Day Ceremonies are held each November 11 at 11:00 am.
This is an awesome way to honor those men that so bravely served in several wars to protect our country and freedoms.
The legion works so hard together to honor their comrades who served and for those who sacificed their lives.
The Atlantic Memorial Park Project will also remember those that bravely gave up so much to keep us safe.
Out of respect we will not have a music background.
This year will mark the 100 years since the end of the first World War.

Transatlantic Cruise Sydney Nova Scotia Canada 2019 Part 5
Transatlantic Cruise Sydney Nova Scotia Canada 2019 we arrive in Sydney on Cape Breton Island on an overcast day. Cape Breton famous for fiddle music has built the worlds largest fiddle at the Sydney cruise port. We walk around the main street until it starts to rain and decide to call it a day and go back to our Holland America cruise ship MS Veendam. It's a short video showing one of the ports on our Transatlantic cruise from Lisbon Portugal to Boston USA in September 2019.

A Day in Sydney-Cape Breton- With Live Music
This was my day in Sydney, NS (Cape Breton Island) on Thursday 9/11/14 (Celebrity Summit NE/Canada Cruise). It includes lots of live music at both the terrific Spirit of the Fiddle show as well as at lunch at The Governor's Pub. There are also photos of the wonderful old buildings in the town. I did not add any extra recorded music for the stills so as not to alter the mood. The running time is about 32 minutes.
