The Bloody Five's rendition of (I Wanna Go To) New York City is a modern take on a Canadian punk classic. The song was originally written by The Demics, formed in London, Ontario in 1977. Lead singer Keith Whittaker was originally from Manchester, England, explaining the band's markedly English punk inspiration and sound. The band moved to Toronto to be closer to the punk scene, adding to the already vibrant blend of influences from the UK, the New York underground punk scene and something quintessentially Canadian. New York City was their breakout single, getting airplay on CFNY The Spirit of Radio in the station's early days. Chart Magazine (now Chart Attack) named the song the best Canadian single of all time, and The Bloody Five continue the song's journey to iconic Canadian musical status.

RE: Photo of The Ramones at Bowery & Bleecker
Hi Bob,
Just want to say thanks for letting us use your photo at the end of our video, (I Wanna Go To) New York City!
Here is the finished video with your picture at the end:
It's our rendition of a song by The Demics of London, Ontario, Canada. Someone once said The Demics wrote the song to poke fun gently at another local London band at the time whose members were so obsessed with Lou Reed and the flourishing New York punk scene. Those bands yearned to escape from their own mundane lives and join NYC, punk paradise.
We also wanted to share that a huge print of your photo hangs in a bar in Toronto called The Hideout, owned by the Good brothers. We'll be performing there on March 25 during Canadian Music Fest. Marky Ramone had signed the photo and offered it to the Good brothers as a gift.
We followed an incident when a girl was recorded on a security camera stealing the photo from the bar -she just walked right out the side door with it. The guys at The Hideout were extremely fortunate to have it returned later!
That print of your photo and the attached story were a huge inspiration for the video:
Theft, punk rock, New York City, The Ramones, CBGB's, an iconic picture -- all storyboard material : )
Thanks again Bob!

BBC British History's Biggest Fibs With Lucy Worsley 1of3 The Wars Of The Roses
History Documentary hosted by Lucy Worsley, published by BBC in 2017 - English narration
British History's Biggest Fibs with Lucy Worsley Lucy Worsley explores how British history is a concoction of fibs and stories manipulated by whoever was in power at the time.
The Wars of the Roses
She begins with the dynastic conflict known today as the Wars of the Roses. Lucy explores how Shakespeare's history plays have fixed the way most people look at the feud between the houses of Lancaster and York. But he based his version of events on a narrative invented and shaped by Henry VII, the victorious Lancastrian who went on to found the Tudor dynasty.

England's Forgotten Queen: Lady Jane Grey's Execution | History Documentary | Reel Truth History
Subscribe here: to be the first to watch more full length documentaries.
Eight days into her reign as Queen of England, Lady Jane Grey took personal charge of the keys to the Tower of London and even locked her own supporters inside with her. The end was approaching but before her execution, she wrote multiple messages in her prayer book. Historian Helen Castor explores these notes and learns that Lady Jane was actually unflinching and composed until the day she died.
In 1553 Tudor England, Wales and Ireland is taken to the brink of a bloody civil war when the dying King Edward VI, son of Henry VIII, leaves the throne, not to his elder sister, Mary, but to his cousin, the Lady Jane Grey.
This is a story of intrigue, conspiracy, political manoeuvring and a capital city preparing to be attacked. It is also the story of a young woman, ferociously manipulated by powerful men in the palace, who ends up losing her life as a result.
The life of Lady Jane Grey is a tragic narrative. From the moment Edward VI draws Jane into the line of succession, her terrible fate, on the block in the Tower of London, is sealed.
Helen Castor is a historian and a medievalist who has studied the She Wolves, those women who held power in various ways throughout the medieval period. Now she sets out to take a close look at the first woman to sit on the English throne, not as consort, but as a reigning Queen. But Helen discovers far more than a story about a Tudor Queen. The story of Jane Grey is surrounded by myth, confusion and propaganda. Images turn out not to be Jane, well known stories turn out to be fake and many of the books disagree on the details. Helen asks why the first woman to be proclaimed Queen of England has attracted so much bending of the truth.
Helen undertakes some Tudor detective work and turns back to the primary sources in an attempt to separate the truth from the fiction. She builds the real story of Jane Grey and those dark figures that surrounded her, tracing her world, and the nine days she spent on the throne.

NOTE: Unfortunately, part of the original video was blocked, therefore, I was unable to upload the original documentary. Rather than not uploading this great documentary, I have replaced the blocked video (around one minute) with a portrait of King Richard, leaving the audio and everything else as in it's original state.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but I feel this was the best way to be able to add this documentary.

Britain's Bloody Crown: The Mad King Ep 1 of 4 (Wars of the Roses Documentary) | Timeline
Check out our new website for more incredible history documentaries: HD and ad-free.
Historian Dan Jones tells the story of the Wars of the Roses, a 30-year civil war between the House of York and House of Lancaster during which the crown changed hands seven times. Using a combination of documentary and drama, he begins by looking at the reasons for the start of the conflict, revealing it was not caused by scheming Yorkists and belligerent Lancastrians trying to snatch the crown, but by two people fighting to preserve the rule of the ineffective King Henry VI - his smart French wife Margaret of Anjou and his powerful cousin Richard, Duke of York.
