Mount Gambier is full of Surprises - sink holes, blue lakes & Ewens Ponds - E18
This week after setting up camp and getting stuck into a bit of work, we wake the next morning with a super flat battery. Push starting doesn’t work, jump starting doesn’t work so Matt gets a lift into Mount Gambia to buy a new battery
After a quick change over we are back on the road and our first stop is the blue lake. From here we check out the various sink holes around the city before heading to little blue lake for an arvo dip
The next morning after we fix the resistor and buy some more food we head to ewens ponds to check them out. From the outside it doesn’t look like much but we still put on our wet suits and jump in. Next thing we know we are so surprised with what we see

Mount Gambier - South Australia
Mount Gambier is a city in the southeastern corner of South Australia. It’s known for its limestone, volcanic landscape and crater lakes. One of these, Blue Lake, turns cobalt blue in summer. Nearby, the Centenary Tower offers panoramic views of the area. The Umpherston Sinkhole contains a lush sunken garden. The Lady Nelson Visitor Centre houses a full-size replica of a late-18th-century ship.

For the Easter break we spent time on the coast of South Australia near Mount Gambier. While we were there, we went to the Little Blue Lake, just off the road from Mount Gambier to Port MacDonnell, turn off at the pub next Mount Shank Volcano.
We jumped in off the edge, it was a lot of fun. Just be sure not to swallow any of the water!
