International Cat Exhibition held in St. Petersburg
It must be heaven for cat lovers at the International Cat Exhibition held in St. Petersburg, Russia on Saturday.
A variety of precious breeds including Russian blue, Scottish Fold, British Short-hair and Cornish Rex were on display at the exhibition venue. Among the cats, the most expensive was priced at 1.4 million rubles (about 23,787 US dollars).
According to local media, Russia is among the countries with the highest proportion of domestic cats, with more than one third of Russian households owning at least one kitty. In Russia, people need to register for buying a cat, as cats have their own passports and medical records. Lucky cats which hold passports and have vaccinations on time are permitted to take public transportation with their masters.

Gay rights activists in New York have dumped vodka onto the street as part of a growing global protest over new laws in Russia that target homosexuals.
A growing number of gay bar owners across the United States have also vowed to stop serving Russian vodka.
Protesters are angry about a controversial law signed by President Vladimir Putin banning the promotion of non-traditional values to children, the refusal to allow gay pride events and harassment of gay activists.
