A Trip Onboard Blue Train in South Africa
The Blue Train in South Africa is said to be one of the most luxurious trains in the world. The 27 hour train journey takes you from Pretoria to Cape Town in South Africa (or the reverse). On board each room has two single beds or a double and comes with a full sized bathroom and shower, with deluxe sweets even having a full sized bath tub. While on board all of the guests needs are taken care of by a butler. Drinks and high tea are served in the lounge car with gourmet breakfast, lunch and a formal dinner being served in the dinning car. Onboard the train there is also a Club Lounge which is a great place for an aperitif or digestif along with a fine Cuban cigar.

SOUTH AFRICA: CELEBRITIES ATTEND LAUNCH OF REVAMPED BLUE TRAIN
English/Nat
Celebrities from around the world joined South African President Nelson Mandela in Pretoria on Friday for the launch of the revamped Blue Train.
They're joining Mandela -- and his companion Graca Machel -- for a 1,600 km (1,000 mile) journey to Cape Town on what is said to be the most luxurious in the world.
The refurbished train is part of a plan to boost tourism in the country.
Fiddling in the forecourt of Pretoria railway station, South Africa.
With international celebrities like Imran Khan and his wife, Jemima, arriving, you might have thought it was South African fashion week.
Especially when top supermodel Naomi Campbell turned up.
But, while a whiff of glamour was in the air, it was actually quite a different event.
The only platforms to be seen here were of the old-fashioned station variety.
Not launching a line of new clothes, but a luxury train.
President Nelson Mandela -- and his companion Graca Machel -- were here to inaugurate the new, refurbished Blue Train.
One of the world's most famous trains has been completely upgraded at a cost of nearly 15 (m) million U-S dollars.
While there was a light-hearted atmosphere, President Mandela struck a serious note.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
The new train shows that South Africa takes seriously the challenge of the world market and in particular that it is ready to meet the exacting standards of quality and service required in the highly-competitive market of luxury rail travel.
SUPER CAPTION: Nelson Mandela, President of South Africa
It's part of a government plan to boost tourism in South Africa, especially at the top end of the trade.
Speeches over, it was time to get on board.
The assorted celebrities and top South African politicians are now heading relatively slowly, but in luxurious surroundings, to Cape Town, 1,600 kms (1,000 miles) to the south.
