Mugwumps 1st gig Boars Head Stockport
A fairly subdued Jamie (aka Ray Dansa) fronts Mugwump on our very first outing in the early 1990s This was our shortest ever gig as we were warned about 20minutes in that if we did not stop the Landlord (a most unpleasant chap by all accounts)was going to pull the plug. Our crime was apparently we sounded like Public Image (I thought that was a good thing myself).Ironically I later found out that said Landlord was being wound up by someone in the adjoining bar whining about how crap we were and this person, a certain Mr Bolt Upright ,is now in my current band and on the receiving end of similar criticism from some of the more discerning members of our admittedly miniscule audience. Guitarist Snod is in the Lucha Libre masked ,surf/metal band The Unshaggables. Captain Falldown (looking rather portly in the foreground here) has hung up his bass for good. As for Jamie I last saw him when he knocked on my door to seek refuge from some kids who were throwing stones at him...they must have been at this gig and remembered him.....Sorry about the quality it was very dark with only the slide projector and a Strobe light for illumination...The first tune A Soldiers Lifewas described in Manchester magazine City Life as being a Nasal John Cooper Clarke wannabe ranting over a tinny drum machine and they predicted that it would be a sure-fire hit with Gulf War Veterans. Well they were right about the first part. The 2nd tune Take your Tablets was severely truncated when we recorded it at Jerusalem Studios in Manchester (we got rid of the dreadful vocals) which is what happened eventually to the band when we became an instrumental 3 piece...If only Autotune was around then....good times though
Middlewood Way - Middlewood Station to Boars Head - SAVE Middlewood Way
Please support SAVE Middlewood Way at middlewoodway.co.uk
This video is the second stage to our campaign to save Middlewood Way. Stockport Council have decided to remove the rangers who maintain Middlewood Way between Rose Hill Station and Middlewood Station.
This video shows the well maintained Cheshire County Council side of the bridleway from Middlewood Station to the Boars head pub. Stockport Council hold approx. 2 miles Whilst Cheshire hold approx. 8
The route is well used by all forms of life, walkers, disabled groups, horse riders, cyclists, children and is closely linked with the Macclesfield Canal.
We feel the route should be saved from neglect as it forms part of the health and wellbeing of all Stockport residents.

Journey on the MB&M railway
The Macclesfield Bollington & Marple railway closed on 3rd January 1970. This film has been discovered in 2018 showing the view from the train from Bollington to Macclesfield, then returning to Rose Hill, Marple, and on to Marple aqueduct on the lower Peak Forest canal. I believe that all this film was taken in the months up to closure of the railway. The film is in colour but silent.

Leeds Boys Quest For Knowledge Ep1
The first of hopefully many!
Its my first week back in England after 7 crazy months traveling.
Feels good to be back training with everyone, ill try making these as regular as possible so you can see what a typical 1/2 weeks of training with us is like and one day i can look back through them and have a good laugh!
Let me know what you thing, very little editing or effort went into this and same goes for future videos. I like the raw fast cut feel and it will most likely stay like this through out but id still like to hear your feed back!
Enjoy!

The Godley to Woodley Line, 27/10/2012
A walk along the old railway line from Godley to Woodley (first changing at Guide Bridge).
The line was opened by the Cheshire Lines Committee (CLC) in 1866, and closed in 1981, although as far as I know, there hadn't been any passenger services on it for many years by then. These days most of it is a footpath / cycle track.
Maybe one day I'll do the whole Middlewood Way or the Fallowfield Loop, although they're both much longer than this.
I've put it in the People & Blogs category because there isn't a Walking around on old railway lines category.
