Walla Crag
Overlooking Derwent Water in the north of the English Lake District lies Walla Crag, one of Alfred Wainwright's Central Fells and a perennially popular walk from nearby Keswick. Join Neil on a brisk April day, taking a a gentle bimble up the hill from the lake side.
Famously, for Wainwright, if you could count up to four, you would know its height (1,234 ft), it's now regarded as the less numerically neat 1,243 ft (379 m).

Have a great 2019 on the hills!

Lake District 2010 part 3
Day three of our Lake District adventure from April 2010.
The previous good weather had deteriorated slightly, but we were not deterred. We decided to walk from our campsite at Seatoller across the Borrowdale valley to the Bowder Stone ( a local attraction ).
Our walk took in forests, a cave, a crossing of the River Derwent and a route back over the windswept hills.
Later we dried off in the Yew Tree Cafe in Seatoller where we had a couple of beers and some lovely cake.
Day four will be uploaded soon.
Until then, cheers for now.
Chad.
More info on the Bowder Stone, strange how a big rock can be so interesting.
Here is a link to the campsite we stayed at. A perfect spot to use as a base for exploring the fells. The shower was a brisk jog away at the farm house, but otherwise an awesome place to stay.
I believe i incorrectly referred to my camera as a fuji finepix. I was wrong, sorry. It was actually a Konica Minolta Dimage Z1. This link is a review from 2003. They rate it pretty well, and explain that the clickety clack noise is due the AF (auto focus) being on all the time i was filming. It was a great camera for those early digital years, still have it in my drawer of old tech!
** The Yew Tree Cafe has since closed, which is a shame as it was a nice little place to grab a Tea and cake or a few beers. Not sure if it has been replaced, next time i'm up that way i'll check it out.**

YHA Borrowdale, Lake District
Stayed two nights here. It's a well-run hostel with a full bar, restaurant, and entertainment room in a superb location at the heart of Lake District. It's also a major hub for C2C and other thru walkers. My plan to climb Scafell Pike and Great Gable from here was rejected by bad weather. But still managed to do some fun walks and meet interesting people. Thanks to Alison from Lancaster for preparing for me a lovely meal and giving me rides.
