A day at Lone Rock Beach - Lake Powell - Page - Arizona - Utah - LeAw in the USA //Ep.44
We are living the American dream driving the Historic Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica but we are doing some detours to visit some places we like.
In this 44th episode, we spent a day at Lone Rock Beach at Lake Powell - Arizona - Utah. Enjoy the ride with us! ;)
Lone Rock is a solitary rock in Wahweap Bay in Lake Powell in Glen Canyon Recreation Area less than 10 miles (16 km) from Glen Canyon Dam. It is located within Kane County, Utah, United States.
Facing Lone Rock is the Lone Rock Campground accessed from Route 89. The beach is one of the few places in Glen Canyon Recreation Area where people can drive right to the water's edge.
Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River, straddling the border between Utah and Arizona, United States. Most of Lake Powell, along with Rainbow Bridge National Monument, is located in Utah. It is a major vacation spot that around two million people visit every year. It is the second largest man-made reservoir by maximum water capacity in the United States behind Lake Mead, storing 24,322,069 acre feet (3.0000830×1010 m3) of water when full. However, due to high water withdrawals for human and agricultural consumption, and because of subsequent droughts in the area, Lake Powell is currently larger than Lake Mead in terms of volume of water currently held, depth and surface area.
Lake Powell was created by the flooding of Glen Canyon by the Glen Canyon Dam, which also led to the creation of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a popular summer destination. The reservoir is named for explorer John Wesley Powell, a one-armed American Civil War veteran who explored the river via three wooden boats in 1869. In 1972, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area was established. It is public land managed by the National Park Service, and available to the public for recreational purposes. It lies in parts of Garfield, Kane, and San Juan counties in southern Utah, and Coconino County in northern Arizona. The northern limits of the lake extend at least as far as the Hite Crossing Bridge. A map centered at the confluence of the Escalante River 37°17′22″N 110°52′20″W with the Colorado River gives a good view of the extent of the lake.
Lake Powell is a water storage facility for the Upper Basin states of the Colorado River Compact (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico). The Compact specifies that the Upper Basin states are to provide a minimum annual flow of 7,500,000 acre feet (9.3 km3) to the Lower Basin states (Arizona, Nevada, and California).
Lone Rock Beach Campground is a large primitive campsite located on the shores of Wahweap Bay and adjacent to Lone Rock, a large isolated redrock formation. It is accessible to vehicles—you can drive right onto the sand and set up camp on the beach or nearby sand dunes. It is “Primitive”, meaning no designated camping spots, but you’ll find toilets, outhouses, RV dump, cold showers, potable water in the camp area. Jet Ski’s, boats and personal watercraft can be operated and/or anchored conveniently at the beach. The beach is about an 8 mile drive from Wahweap marina, but about half the distance by water. Many people use this location on holidays / weekends, so plan accordingly (no reservations). Remember to bring a porta-potty if you’re camping more than 200 yards from the outhouses—the park service regularly patrols this site and you’ll face fines if you don’t obey this rule. We also recommend driving on already-established car paths, as many people will tell you about getting stuck in the soft sand! Click Here for a printable guide with images and maps.
Park Operator: National Park Service
Fees: $10 per car.
Reservations: None.
Limitations: 14 consecutive days allowed per visit. 30 days per year.
Public Toilets: Yes. Flush toilets and rinse showers at campground info center. Outhouse toilets located on beach. Be sure to bring a Porta-Potty if you plan to camp a few hundred feet away from the porta-potties – Rangers regularly patrol the area to enforce.

California Condor at Horseshoe Bend (Page, Arizona)
California Condor at Horseshoe Bend (Page, Arizona). We saw this condor flying around and were able to locate where he landed. There are 83 (listed) California Condors in Arizona/Utah. Largest flying bird in North America. Up to a 10-foot wingspan. Footage is a bit shaky as I had a long lens and no tripod. At the end of the video I have inserted a number of epic photos of the condor taking off and in flight. November 2017. Music from Epidemic Sound.

Backpage.com Stings in Arizona - Castillo Law
Start Transcription:
Hi, my name is Cindy Castillo, with Castillo Law. Today I'd like to talk to you about back-page ads.
The State of Arizona is preparing for the Super Bowl in 2015. In an effort to clean-up our state, the State of Arizona and law-enforcement officers has said, We are not going to tolerate any type of offenses against children, which include sex offenses. In an effort to do this, law enforcement has started using back-page ads in order to try to trap individuals in situations where they be pursuing young children.
It's very important that if you are visiting these back-page ads that you know what you are getting yourself into. Some individuals have used these back-page ads for escorts. While an escort may have a license, that is one thing, but many of the individuals who post on these back-page ads don't have a license, and if you are pursuing individuals on back-page ads for anything that is illegal, you may find yourself negotiating with a law-enforcement officer.
The back-page ads where law-enforcement has been targeting individuals have usually been situations where an individual is either offering massages or services that are questionable. Even though the back-page ad says that the poster is 18 years or older, eventually what happens is once you start communicating with this individual, the person will tell you that she is not actually 18 years old, but rather 15 or 16 years old.
Usually it comes in a scenario such as this. Hey, my driver's license is not working, or, My fake ID is not working. Could you stop and pick up a package of cigarettes for me? In that conversation, usually the decoy divulges their age. The individual is quickly turned to, what kind of services the individual wants, and it normally is missed by the person pursuing the services.
Eventually, when the person gets to the hotel room, that person is told, again, the age, and asked if it's okay. They'll usually require that the person put money down, and as soon as the person puts money down, law-enforcement comes in and takes over. This is a problem because while the individual may have thought that they were just soliciting a prostitute, at this point they have now solicited an underage prostitute, which is a felony in the State of Arizona, and it can carry some pretty harsh consequences.
If you are going to these back-page ads it's very important that you understand that there are consequences with going to these back-page ads that may be offering illegal services. If you are in this situation, please feel free to contact me. I have a lot of experience in this area and have been successful in negotiating these cases.

Kayaking - Antelope Canyon (Lake Powell)
#antelopecanyon #kayaking #lakepowell
Antelope Canyon is often considered one of the most beautiful slot canyons in the world. But many people don't realize that the canyon extends into Lake Powell and is one of over ninety canyons you can kayak when visiting Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. All of which means one thing: Lake Powell with more than 2000 miles of shoreline, is one of the Best places to kayak in North America.
Begin by putting in at the Antelope Canyon Marina, then paddle west from the boat ramp and enter the first side canyon on the left. Depending on the water level you can paddle more than three miles up the canyon. Just remember if you want to exit your kayak and hike further to the most popular section of the canyon then you will need both a permit and a guide from the Navajo Nation.

Stories from the Dust Bowl (2005)
Smoky Hills Public Television produced a documentary titled, “Stories from The Dust Bowl.” Through the use of old photographs, music, film and interviews with those who lived through this time period, Smoky Hills Public Television presents a special program that tells the story of this critical time in history. It is important to capture the recollections and stories from the past to learn of the hardships of those who survived and continued to make a life and home in Kansas and the plains. There are many stories to be told; however many of those will soon be gone.
Visits included Hugoton, Liberal, Great Bend, Hays and Garden City, Kansas and Goodwell, Oklahoma as well as interviews with men and women from across our viewing area. The Wind Erosion Research Unit of USDA’s Agricultural Research Service at Kansas State University has done extensive research on the subject and history consultants from Fort Hays State University, University of Kansas, Barton County Community College and Oklahoma Panhandle State University were interviewed.
“This Program is funded in part by the Kansas Humanities Council, a nonprofit cultural organization promoting understanding of the history, traditions, and ideas that shape our lives and build community.”

US Highway 66 is the road that needs no introduction. Originally running from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, CA, the road traveled more then two thousand miles all the way. The road rose to fame with the Dust Bowl of the 1930's because of residents seeking a better life in Los Angeles. In The Grapes of Wrath, the road was given the nickname of 'The Mother Road', and was made into a musical tune by the Nat Cole Trio's hit '(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66.
The road traveled eight states, and out of 2400 miles, Arizona had the longest stretch of highway, spanning 401 approximate miles across the northern half of the state. Out of those 401 miles, 158 are still linked together making for the longest continuous, uninterrupted segment of Route 66 between the State Line and Ash Fork. The oldest alignment of the road entered at Topock, then traveled northeast to Oatman, situated in the black mountains (known for wild burros), through the city of Kingman. Departing Kingman, the road traveled through Peach Springs and Seligman, the town credited with saving Arizona's stretch, mostly along modern Arizona State Route 66 (the portion in Yavapai County has been returned to the county for maintenance.
Today, we travel one half of the AZ-66 portion from Kingman at I-40 to the old town of Truxton. This portion goes through relatively flat, desert terrain, with very few historically interesting places with mentioning. However, we start gaining elevation - roughly 1,000 feet from Kingman to Truxton.

U.S. Route 66 (US 66 or Route 66,Actual i40), also known as the Will Rogers Highway and also known as the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. US 66 was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year.[4] The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km).[5] It was recognized in popular culture by both the hit song (Get Your Kicks on) Route 66 and the Route 66 television show in the 1960s.
US 66 served as a major path for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and the road supported the economies of the communities through which it passed. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway, and those same people later fought to keep the highway alive in the face of the growing threat of being bypassed by the new Interstate Highway System.
US 66 underwent many improvements and realignments over its lifetime, and it was officially removed from the United States Highway System on June 27, 1985,[6] after it had been replaced in its entirety by segments of the Interstate Highway System. Portions of the road that passed through Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico, and Arizona have been designated a National Scenic Byway of the name Historic Route 66, which is returning to some maps.[7][8] Several states have adopted significant bypassed sections of the former US 66 into the state road network as State Route 66.

Knights Inn Christmas nightmare.
Not my first rodeo with this place. Comes a time when you need to stand up to big money. This place is either racist towards blacks or bigoted towards the homeless. It's one or the other. Personal opinion and egotism makes you money spend differently in racist Mesa AZ.
Or it could be via Mesa pd. They're racist as hell! Nationally known!
So, Merry Christmas America, trust in Jesus.
Happy Birthday Jesus!
