The Brains Behind It Episode 100 - Carol Ann Hamilton
The World Memory Tournament Federation is in 7 countries and counting. It is not the only test for memory but it is the only one designed with young people in mind. Its fun, exciting and just might change the world.
Dave Farrow is a two-time Guinness Record holder for Greatest Memory. In 1996 he memorized the order of 52 decks of, randomly shuffled together, and recalled them correctly under Guinness Record (a total of 2704 cards).
In 2007, Farrow reclaimed this record by memorizing 59 decks of playing cards making him the current record holder for Greatest Memory (a total of 3068 cards).
Farrow is featured in the 1997 and 2009 editions of the Guinness Book of World Records.
As a teenager, Canadian Dave Farrow was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia and faced great personal learning challenges. Dave nearly dropped out of high school before discovering and using standard memory improvement techniques and inventing new techniques for memory and focus. His grades improved so quickly that teachers thought he was cheating! Dave developed and used the Farrow Method to improve his marks and graduate and is the only expert in the last 200 years to invent new memory techniques. In addition to the Farrow Method he also created the Farrow Focus Burst method to overcome his own ADHD and focus challenges.
The Farrow Method combines Classical Memory Techniques & Oral Tradition, with the Farrow Focus Burst Method, and Brain-Plasticity and Cognitive Neuro-Science Research -- it is the top selling speed learning and memory improvement program in the world.
Today Dave is a two-time Guinness World Record Holder for Greatest Memory and a leading expert in Memory Improvement, Speed Learning, and Self-Directed Learning.
NEW -- Fall 2012 -- Completion of a Double Blind Neuroscience Study of the Farrow Memory Method with McGill University in Montreal, Canada: After just 20 minutes of instruction in the system, and tested a week later, people who use Farrow's system scored 3 Times higher than the control group on clinical memory tests.
In today's competitive job market the most sought after job skill that companies look for is the ability to learn and Dave teaches the Farrow Method for Memory and Speed Learning to companies and corporations. Human Resources departments with goals of employee health and wellness hire Dave to deliver the Farrow Method to their staff. The Farrow Method has been taught to companies such as: Sony Corporation, E-Bay, Coldwell Banker, ReMax, Royal LePage, Century 21, Realty USA, Prudential, Bank of America, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Toyota, Bank of Montreal, Bombardier, Bristol-Myers Squibb Co, Johnson & Johnson, City of Whitby (Toronto, Canada), York Region (Toronto, Canada), Citi-Group and many more.
Dave and the Farrow method have been featured on 1000's of TV, radio, and print interviews such as:
Daily Planet, Live! With Regis and Kelly, Today Show, The Dr. Oz Show, Winging It Buffalo, Breakfast Television (City TV, Canada),Province Wide (CTV/CKCO, Canada) CBS Early Show, The 700 Club, CBC Doc Zone Where Did I Put My Memory?, WGN, CW, NBC, ABC, Reader's Digest, Esquire Magazine, Canadian Health And Lifestyle Magazine, The Globe And Mail, and many more.
As a speaker, trainer and media expert, Dave Farrow has worked with or been compared to celebrities and speakers, doctors and scientists and fellow memory experts and enthusiasts such as: Brian Tracy, Forest Whitaker, Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa, Michael DeLuise, Kathy Lee and Hoda, Jay Ingram, Rick Green, Daiene Vernille, Ann Rohmer, James Malinchak, Alicia Stanton, Zig Ziglar, Napoleon Hill, Fran Capo, Tom Antion, Les Brown, Charles Adler, B.O.B, James Brown (sportscaster),Dr.Oz, Dr. Perlmutter, Dr. Dainel Amen, Dr. Majid Fotuhi, Deepak Chopra, Tony Robbins, Chester Santos, Ron White, Dominic O'Brien, Nelson Dellis, Bob Gray, Tony Buzan, Dave Thomas, Harry Lorayne, Matthew Gerk, and Jim Kwik.
A self-directed lifelong learner, Dave Farrow is known by his friends as a walking encyclopedia for his ability to remember large amounts of information, speed read with full comprehension and focus at will. The Farrow Method is based on: brain plasticity, speed learning, self-directed learning, memory improvement, speed reading, the Farrow Focus Burst Method -- all in one cumulative system. After using Dave's brain-training program, everyone will triple their memory and be an auto-didactic (self-directed) learner.
Dave has also incorporated Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) into much of his work.

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada - June 28, 1975.
Pink Floyd open with two new songs (works in progress) that will end up on their next album, Animals.
So you have two songs from Animals, most of the Wish You Were Here album, Dark Side, and Echoes. That’s too cool to pass up. Even if you’re a casual Floyd fan, this show will make you happy.
It has, basically, every Floyd song the average dude knows (not counting The Wall) in one concert.
this show is from 6/28/75 in Hamilton, Ontario during their Wish You Were Here Tour. The sound quality is EX. It's an incredible audience recording that is virtually indistinguishable from a professional record.
The stereo soundstage is wide and well defined. Aside from the sound quality, another reason I am sharing this show is the setlist.
You get the Animals album in the form of Raving and Drooling and You Gotta Be Crazy, almost all of Wish You Were Here in Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Have A Cigar, all of The Dark Side of the Moon,
and half of Meddle with the Echoes encore. What more could you ask for? And the performance is top-notch. Gilmour's guitar work is incredible. The tone and sound quality overall is simply outstanding

June 28, 1975: British rock band Pink Floyd brings out 55,000 to Hamilton’s Ivor Wynne Stadium
By the thousands, they lined up the day before the concert with their $8.50 general admission tickets. And when the turnstiles finally stopped, more than 55,000 fans deluged Ivor Wynne Stadium for the most infamous rock concert in the city's history. It was the final night of the North American Wish You Were Here tour in 1975, and the city was not up to the challenge of hosting such an event in a facility that was designed for far fewer people. Neighbours of Ivor Wynne were not impressed with all-night partying and damage to their properties. Nor were they appreciative of open drug use and the collateral effects of a shortage of port-a-potties
Public outrage with the concert made city council reluctant to allow future concerts at Ivor Wynne. Even plans for a Bob Hope show, shortly after, were scuttled. But Pink Floyd was not the last concert by any means. Rush headlined in 1979 with 8,000 fans, as did the Tragically Hip with the Sam Roberts Band in 2012 for an audience of more than 10,000. In September 2014, Keith Urban and Darius Rucker brought out more than 20,000 well-behaved people at the newly opened Tim Hortons Field. And while future concerts are expected, they will always be negotiated with memories of a June evening

World's most severe Tourette's case doesn't want a cure | 60 Minutes Australia
No one forgets an encounter with Bianca Saez. When Tara Brown first met her 11 years ago, Bianca was 16 and had the worst case of Tourette Syndrome doctors had even seen. She was a hostage to uncontrollable, violent tics and sudden outbursts of extraordinary expletives. Bianca lived at the mercy of her troubled mind until doctors performed radical brain surgery. Instantly, and for two miraculous weeks, she was free of her Tourette’s. But then, cruelly, infections set in and the operation had to be reversed. Today, Bianca still suffers severely from Tourette’s, but she has learnt to navigate the near impossible. She has found love, independence and happiness… even though she still swears like a trooper.
