British Cemetery Christmas Party
Every year the British community (Brits in Bahia) throw a big Christmas bash. They chose this location because it’s the one time of year all the Brits in the area get together on their own land. The Cemetery is located right on the All Saints Bay in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. It’s a beautiful garden like churchyard with an even more incredible view of the sun setting over the water. It was wonderful having a Christmas party on a warm tropical night overlooking the ocean! Video 18

Hidden Utopia in Brazil
Today we took a beautiful boat ride to Ilha dos Frades and Ponta do Areia on the Ilha de Itaparica. Both are islands in the Bay of All Saints, off the coast of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The boat ride was awesome with fruity drinks and fun Bahian music. The islands were awesome with warm, clear, tranquil water and lazy beaches. At Ilha dos Frades we climbed the stairs to the top of the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe and checked out the awesome view. We ate an incredible traditional Bahian cuisine buffet lunch at Ponta do Areia. We spent some time relaxing in hammocks and horseback riding. It was utopia! Video 15

Underground Lake - Poço Azul
Poço Azul is one of the most incredible things we’ve seen in Brazil yet. We have lived here for 4 months and this tops the cake so far. Poço Azul (blue well/sink) is in the Chapada Diamantina National Park and is actually an underground lake with slow flowing crystalline waters. Not only could we see down to the very bottom but the surrounding bugs and wildlife blow our minds as well. We loved it!! Vidoe 26

Chasing Waterfalls in Brazil
There are lots of waterfalls of different sizes in Chapada Diamantina National Park (located in the state of Bahia). Some waterfalls require a tour guide and a rigorous hike. We found 3 waterfalls (with the help of locals) easy to get to with the kids. None of them were more than a 15 minute hike from the car. We had a lot of fun exploring this national park and the cute little towns.
The dark coloration of the water is due to decomposing organic matter from the rocky soil. Despite the color the water is very clean. Video 24

Urban Graffiti Tour in Brazil
Eder Muniz is a talented graffiti artist for over 16 years. (Instagram @calangoss) He has traveled all over the United States and Brazil sharing his unique and inspiring art. His goal is to bring love and happiness to our community by painting brilliant nature art on inner city walls and buildings. He is a big advocate of the free art movement. Um cemitério cheio de história | História da Bahia | Desfrute Salvador
Nesse vídeo vou contar a história do Cemitério dos Ingleses. Para muitas pessoas, cemitério é o último lugar a se ir na vida - literalmente. Entretanto, quem conhece o o espaço, localizado na Ladeira da Barra, em frente à Baía de Todos os Santos, se surpreende com tamanha beleza. Fundado no inicio do século XIX, o cemitério resiste ao tempo e hoje é atração turística.
Barra, Salvador-BA
O bairro localiza-se na entrada da Baía de Todos os Santos e tem mais de 500 anos de história. Aqui começou a colonização portuguesa da cidade. Em 1501, o padrão de posse português foi instalado no local do atual Farol da Barra. Era 1º de novembro, dia de Todos os Santos. Depois surgiu o primeiro povoado, com Caramuru.
Em 1549, Thomé de Sousa desembarcou no Porto da Barra para fundar a primeira capital do Brasil. O bairro possui três fortes históricos e uma das igrejas mais antigas da Cidade: a Igreja de Santo Antônio da Barra. Em Dois de Julho de 1823, foi o último solo dos soldados portugueses na Bahia.
Os imigrantes ingleses tiveram importante papel no desenvolvimento de Salvador, no século 19. Construíram várias moradias no bairro e o Cemitério Britânico.

International Women’s Day 2018
I have never experienced International Women’s day like today! I loved to see the energy and force behind so many passionate women. A large group of Brazilian women came together bringing different women's organizations and beliefs. There were speakers, performances, rallies, and marching. No matter what group they were there to represent. The event was a gathering of beautiful women supporting each other. I loved being part it and I love the culture here in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil!!
International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. Video 35

4 Best Places to Visit in Rio - 1 Month Update
Number 3 was our favorite. Rio is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world! I love being surrounded by thick, rich, green vegetation everywhere we go. The plant life is so incredible, we all just stop and stare. All these places are great and easy to enjoy with the family. Video 8
1. Copacabana Beach. One of the most famous beaches in the world. It is beautiful, perfect for surfing and sun bathing. The wide sidewalk is lined with incredible black and white cobblestone. Great for scenic walks.
2. Parque Lage (where Snoop Dogg and Pharrell filmed their video “Beautiful”) Parque Enrique Lage is a public park in the city of Rio de Janeiro, located in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood at the foot of the Corcovado. The land was formerly the residence of industrialist Enrique Lage and his wife, singer Gabriella Besanzoni. We also enjoyed playing at a playground on the perminses where we saw monkeys in the trees.
3. The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden or Jardim Botânico is located at the Jardim Botânico district in the Zona Sul (South Zone) of Rio de Janeiro. The Botanical Garden shows the diversity of Brazilian and foreign flora. There are numerous greenhouses. The garden also houses monuments of historical, artistic and archaeological significance. The 140-hectare park lies at the foot of the Corcovado Mountain, far below the right arm of the statue of Christ the Redeemer and contains more than 6,000 different species of tropical and subtropical plants and trees, including 900 varieties of palm trees.
4. The Vista Chinesa (Chinese Belvedere). It’s in the same neighborhood as Jardim Botânico and the Parque Nacional & Floresta da Tijuca. It has a beautiful traditional Chinese structure overlooking the amazing views of Rio.
