Bruce Trail End-to-End Hike 2017
In the Spring/Summer 2017, my son and I both completed an End-to-End of the Bruce Trail in Ontario, Canada. The Bruce Trail is a continuous footpath, approximately 900 km or 559.2 miles in length, which follows the Niagara Escarpment from the Southern Terminus at Queenston Heights along the Niagara River to the Northern Terminus in Tobermory at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Bruce Trail that was officially opened on 10 June 1967.
My son and I started the trail together at Queenston Heights on 21 May 2017. By 25 May, my son had developed a significant knee injury and eventually on 29 May at Hockley Road near Orangeville, Ontario (approximately at the 313 km point) we made the decision to get off the trail and return home to have his injury assessed. On 9 June after reorganizing my work schedule to take time off, I returned alone to finish the rest of the trail and ultimately completed my End-to-End hike on 21 June. After fully recovering from his knee injury, on 20 July my son returned to the trail alone to finish his adventure and he reached the cairn at the Northern Terminus in Tobermory on 5 August.
This video is presented in geographical order from South to North and captures some of the beautiful scenery we had the privilege of enjoying on our amazing adventure.

Bruce Trail Thru-Hike RedBeard's Adventure from Niagara to Tobermorny
Hello, my name is Brad Perkins aka RedBeard this is a photos and video compilation of my 32 day/ 900+ km adventure along the Bruce Trail. I begin my journey in Niagara Falls and traverse along the Niagara Escarpment all the way north to Tobermory. This hike was tough, one of the hottest summers I can remember. For the first few weeks water was almost impossible to acquire from natural sources, which meant detouring into towns/communities to refill and restock. This hike was a life changing experience that I would do over and over if I had the chance. I met incredible people, saw amazing beauty in nature, and reestablished my inner connection with the outdoors. It is a long video to be sure, but I can assure you that it is worth your time to enjoy. I truly encourage anyone who thinks they'd like to have an adventure like this to do it! Its the greatest thing I have ever accomplished! Thanks for taking the time to check out my adventure!

The Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath, provides the only continuous public access to the magnificent Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Running along the Escarpment from Niagara to Tobermory, it spans more than 890 km of main trail and over 400 km of associated side trails.

Our Adventure in Tobermory!
We finally went to Tobermory for the first time! We were actually in the Bruce Peninsula National Park. We camped at the Cyprus Lake Campground, and hiked to the Indian Head Cove and The Grotto to swim and cliff jump. The cliffs and water were amazing! Thanks for watching our Bruce Peninsula camping, Tobermory Grotto, Sauble beach vlog :) Subscribe if you haven't already! Drove 6 and a half from Kingston over to the Bruce Peninsula, camped on Cyprus Lake, checked out the grotto! Super nice place, the water was so clear. Those boys were doing flips of the 50 - 60 foot ledge, I wanted to try just jumping off of it but it was too scary fo me. Saw so many snakes, ate some salad, struggled to open a beer. On our drive back we stopped in at Sauble beach which was super fun.
Just a little geographic context, the Bruce Peninsula is 4 hours north of Toronto Ontario and seperate the Georgian Bay from Lake Huron. We camped on Cyprus Lake which is in Bruce Peninsula National Park and Tobermory is a small town adjacent to the park. Sauble Beach is 1 hour south of Tobermory on Lake Huron :)

The Grotto of Bruce Peninsula National Park in Ontario, Canada is one of the most beautiful swimming areas in all of Canada. It's a cave the features clear, blue water that gets illuminated from an underwater tunnel. If you get there when the sun is in the right position, the water will be illuminated from above and below and looks otherworldly. This place seems like something you might find in Europe on the Mediterranean Sea, but it is found surprisingly in Canada, on the Great Lakes.

Bruce completed the first third in the fall of 2018 and was forced off the trail with an injury. Starting in July 2019, Bruce attempts to complete the last 2 thirds.
This time he is wiser, better prepared and hiking with a friend.
