East Lancashire Railway Santa Specials - 25th November 2017
This season's Santa Specials begun on Saturday 25th November and I was there to get a bit of filming done in between beers at the splendid Buffer Stops pub at Rawtenstall station. I was with the missus so couldn't go out for a proper filming session.
First up we see 45108 departing Rawtenstall and looking rather dapper with a few matching blue & greys behind it. 33109 is up next followed by the arrival of the Crab, I tried to be a bit artistic with that one as a shot from the platform end would be blocked by the water tower so tried to frame it with the platform lights & signal box instead. We then find ourselves at Bury where we get a quick shot of the DMU departing on one of the Burrs Country Park shuttles.
The first day seemed to go rather well and was generally busy, I'm on next week, should be fun ;)

East Lancashire Railway - Rawtenstall Station
A look at Rawtenstall station - the northern terminus of the East Lancashire Steam Railway - on Friday 21st June 2013.
The video starts with a brief look at the River Irwell before moving to the station. The locomotive featured is Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST number WD 132 'Sapper'. Sapper was built in 1944 for the war department by the Hunslet engine company of Leeds. Works number 3153, the WD gave her the number 75103. She was renumbered 132 after the war. After her military service, she was purchased by the National Coal Board for colliery work alongside many of her sisters. She has the distinction of being the last steam locomotive in industrial service in the UK, being taken out of use from Bold Colliery in 1984.
Next to the station is the 'Babarella' bar which contains a model railway so we go in and take a brief look at this.

East Lancs Railway Spring Diesel Gala Day 1 Saturday 7th March 2015
On what was a busy day for me, Shap in the morning, East Lancs in the afternoon and Llangollen in the evening, here is my capture of the middle portion of the day, a number of workings on Day 1 of the East Lancs Railways Spring Diesel gala, 2015. All shots are caught at Summerseat and in order we see:
D9531 hauling a seemingly dead 50015 with D9537 on the rear;
Recently returned 37418 still not completed liveried up but looking good;
D7076 on the freight working.
