Fort Langley BC - CN Station Historic Site - May 14 2012
A photo and video collage of a quick walk around of the Fort Langley Historic CN Railway Station located at Mavis Ave. and Glover Rd in the heart of Fort Langley, BC. This was done on May 14 2012.
The site was closed for the season, so some of the exhibits were not out. Perhaps later on in the summer I will do another one and capture all the neat stuff there?
Enjoy the video. I know, the music is not that great because I raced to get this video completed, and I really slapped the music together at the last minute.

SP Trains #1048 Fort Langley Station 2 2018-08-11
Hanging out, waiting, at the Fort Langley Station turned out to be a bit of fun. A young lad, 4 (?) turned up with his Grandad (?) and the youngster very much wanted to see a train. We just happened to have the scanner up and running and determined that CN#109 wasn't that far away. There was some discussion as to whether 109 went to Deltaport or if it came through to Thornton Yard. Turns out it's a Thornton Yard train and young Herb was delighted. Grandad didn't need too much convincing to wait for the train, either.
By the way, the camera bounces around a bit as I tried not to get the young one in frame. Even in a public place we need to have good manners when it comes to those under 18.
Recorded with a Canon T5i/700D HD.

N.B.The photographer and cameras did not encroach on the line of the right-of-way in taking this video. It is dangerous, foolhardy (and illegal) to enter on railway rights-of-way. Just sayin' ... You don't stand on a runway to watch airplanes.

Fort Langley National Historic Site, BC, Canada
Trip to Fort Langley National Historic Site -- the birthplace of British Columbia -- in Langley, BC, Canada on National Parks Day on July 17, 2010.
The Fort Langley trading post was established in the early 19th century by the Hudson's Bay Company to trade fur with the First Nations of the West Coast. The trading post grew and lead to the creation of the Crown Colony of British Columbia.
The Hudson's Bay Company shipped furs to Europe through Cape Horn, produce traded to Russians in Alaska, local cranberries found their way to California, and Fraser River salmon sent as far away as Hawaii.
Rumours of a gold rush on the Fraser River caused a huge influx of Americans to the area around 1858. And on on Nov. 19, 1858, James Douglas proclaimed British Columbia a Crown Colony fearing annexation by the United States.

2017 05 03 #784 The Train Doesn't Stop...
Fort Langley Station was built for the Canadian Northern Railway in 1915 and served trackside until 1980. It was declared a heritage site and moved to its present location in 1983. The full story is at
Our story is one mile west of Ken Storey, whose fine pictures of VIA Rail's #1, The Canadian, are in RailsBC on Facebook.
This edition of #1 is running a little over 3 hours late and in the pouring rain I caught it passing the CN Fort Langley station.
Led by VIA6416 in the Canada 150 wrap, with VIA6459, the last in the number line, but not the last built F40PH-2D (now updated to FP40PH-3), the train hustles by with 4 deadhead cars in front of the train baggage car and is terminated by Prince Albert Park carrying the markers.

SP Trains #1047 Fort Langley Station 1 2018-08-11
The crew headed along to historic Fort Langley Station, once a stop on the Canadian Northern and now a museum. We thought the weather was deteriorating as we had got pretty wet at Mile 99 (see #1046) While awaiting the alternate transport arrival, we caught an eastbound train.
Didi I mention that, of course, the weather made a complete turnaround. Oh well, it was time to breakup the party anyway.
