My Home's Across The Blue Ridge Mountains- Ronnie Williams and the Carter Family Sound 04252019
(song begins at 2:15) This unedited selection from the 25 April 2018 ACMA Pickin' Porch show begins with one of Ronnie's Carter Family stories- this featuring Helen and Maybelle. Ronnie Williams and the Carter Family Sound then perform the Carter Family classic My Home's Across The Blue Ridge Mountains that was written or collected from the tradition by A.P. Carter.
Longtime Carter Family friend and musician Ronnie Williams along with musician friends making up The Carter Family Sound made an April 25th stop in Kingsport, Tennessee at the ACMA Pickin’ Porch, hosted by Rick Dollar, in The Mountain Music Museum at 316 Broad Street. This two hour concert of Carter Family standards preceded Saturday appearances at the Carter Family Fold for the Spring 2019 Clinch Mountain Music Fest (one of the annual Carter Family Festivals). They were essentially the house band scheduled for the 5 PM opening preceding the evening performance of the four headlining old-time bands. Ronnie Williams had been in the area for the entire week assisting Rita Forrester in preparing for the Clinch Mountain Music Fest.
This is an extract from a 2018 public relations release for Ronnie Williams and Lori Carter Bennett appearance at the Carter Family Fold:
[Ronnie] Williams and the Carter Family Sound have been performing in and around the Central Virginia region for the past 25 years. Though some of the group’s members have changed over time, Williams has been playing and singing Carter Family music since 1975.
Williams became close friends of country music legend Mother Maybelle Carter around 1969. Soon after, the friendship extended to the rest of the famous family: Mother Maybelle’s daughters, Helen, June and Anita; and Janette Carter (daughter of A.P. and Sara Carter) and her children, Rita and Dale.
The Carter Family Sound has performed at many schools, churches and fairs around the area. They have also been featured performers on the television show “Song of the Mountains.” Williams plays the autoharp, guitar and accordion, honoring the “Carter Scratch” style of playing guitar and autoharp. It was Mother Maybelle who created the Carter Scratch style out of the necessity to play lead and rhythm parts at the same time. During Williams’ career, he has shared the stage at one time or another with all of the Carters as well as “adopted Carter” Johnny Cash.
Each year Williams travels to Bristol, Tenn. and Hiltons, Va. to play at the Carter Family Festival held at the Carter Family Fold. He performs three to four times annually at The Fold, taking time to do TV interviews and question-and-answer sessions with local college students, discussing Mother Maybelle and her famous picking style.
the following link brings up an interesting interview with Ronnie Williams about the lifelong relationship of Ronnie and member of the Carter Family:

The Carter Family Tribute
(Please consider tipping the musicians )
The Carter Legacy is the third in a series of concerts based on the music of the Appalachian Mountains of the eastern U.S. Although they were essentially folk musicians, the Carter family is widely considered to be the first family of country music that helped to inspire the development of modern Nashville recording; they put over 200 songs to wax between 1927 and 1956. Simple in design and treating a variety of subjects common to all people, many of these songs were chart hits and many became classics.
In the Mountain Music tradition, music teacher and historian Tom Fair is joined by flatfoot dancer / vocalist Rebecca Stout, bassist June Kato, multi-instrumentalist Rob Sandiford and the Wimberley Bluegrass Band for a high-energy tribute to the Carter Family through their extensive catalog of fine songs.
The Carter Legacy tribute takes place on Saturday, March 1st at 7:00 pm -- a rousing celebration suitable for the entire family.
