Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.!
The history behind Santa Fe, New Mexico is that it was first founded in1610, along with when the first Romane Catholic Church was built. Then later was destroyed in the Pueblo Indian Revolt of 1680. The people had returned to Santa Fe in1693 to rebuild, but could not until the year 1714. It took 18 years to build from 1869 to 1887. Still active today, and located in Downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was such a lovely place to visit and learn from.

Old Santa Fe New Mexico was a nice stop even though it was a tourist trap. I loved the builds and most of all the Church St. Francis Basilica Santa Fe was my favorite and I sat in there for a while it was a beautiful church.

Day trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and a Epic Fail in the Mountains
I go on a day trip to explore Santa Fe, New Mexico by foot. We visit the historic plaza, the Loretto Chapel and it's miraculous staircase, the St. Francis Cathedral, Artsy Canyon Road, and the oldest house in the United States. Then I get lost in the mountains looking for the Tent Rocks, and the road was closed.

The 9/11 memorial at Cal Expo Fairgrounds, Sacramento, CA. September 11, 2011 (10 year anniversary). First portion is the granite ball floating on a cushion of water, inscribed with the names of the people killed in the attacks, with an I-Beam donated from the south tower of the WTC. At 0:49, the carillon bells started with Yankee Doodle Dandy, then another unknown tune, then a view of a replica of the twin towers. I

Acequias, Trails, Land Grants, and Early Twentieth-Century Urban Expansion: Archaeological and Historical Perspectives on Southeast Santa Fe
Stephen Post
Sparks, SAR Boardroom

The acequias and arroyos of Santa Fe's southeast neighborhood supported an agrarian lifestyle and served as important landmarks for Spanish land grants. Roads and trails through the area connected Santa Fe with settlements near Pecos and Galisteo during the Spanish Colonial period. Early twentieth-century growth and thirst for land gave rise to companies like the De Vargas Development Corporation, which was a major influence on the character of the neighborhood we see today. Stephen Post has spent more than twenty years researching the archaeological history of the Northern Rio Grande valley with emphasis on the Santa Fe area.

The Palace of the Governors: A National Treasure
On January 28th, 2015, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a National Treasure. A crowd of more than 300 was on hand for the official announcement, and we spoke with a number of attendees who told us why the Palace of the Governors matters to them.
***
Originally built in 1610, it is currently a part of the state history museum and a serves as reminder of the many milestones in New Mexico’s storied history. The Palace is threatened by the lack of budget for capital improvements to address the deterioration of the structure. Since the last full renovation in the 1970s, the building requires many much-needed repairs and mechanical upgrades.
Naming the Palace of the Governors as a National Treasure highlights the call to action for the state legislature and supporters to fund the site’s repairs so that it can continue to serve as the living embodiment of a history unique to the American Southwest.

Driving from Deming, NM to Santa Fe, NM via US70 & US285
Before driving to Santa Fe, New Mexico today, I had to make a planned stop in Roswell, New Mexico to meet aliens, and to buy a t-shirt for a friend.
Today's drive was a long one, and it was already dark by the time I arrived in Santa Fe, so I wasn't able to fully appreciate it until the next day.
My Sony HXR-NX100 rode shotgun on a tripod shooting at 4 fps. The tripod was held in place using bungee cords giving it I nice smooth feel, even on bumpy roads. I also used this same camera to shoot various scenes around the country, and to interview folks.

Gathering Up Again: Fiesta in Santa Fe
This film originally sets out to follow four young participants, the Fire Dancer, the Indian Princess, Don Diego de Vargas and the Tesuque Cacique, in the 1990 Santa Fe Fiesta, a three day pageant that celebrates the reconquest of New Mexico in 1692 by the Spanish over the Pueblo Indians. Interviews and scenes of Fiesta preparation, ultimately, raised issues that needed to be opened up for both Native Americans and Hispanics specifically related to the portrayal of the Native Americans in the Fiesta.
